how do you sign off a complaint letter? Discussion in 'Non Photography Chat Forum' started by keanmu, Aug 13, 2012.
Just written a letter of complaint and she's gonna know just how pi$$ed off iI am. How should I sign it off? I guess yours sincerely but it just doesn't sound right. Kam keanmu, Aug 13, 2012

I would use 'Regards' Here is a copy of a letter I sent in complaint to Edinburgh Zoo. This may inspire you with some ideas. Dear Edinburgh Zoo, I will begin by remarking what a wonderful day we had at the zoo today, our family day out was met by great weather and a host of wonderful activities.

Our main visit was prompted by the arrival of the two Chinese panda’s which we have been planning for a few months. As part of the planning we were aware of a free booking procedure but were really disappointed to discover that arriving at 9.20am, the first available slot was 1.30pm. Furthermore at the allocated time the queue was enormous, more like a Harrods spring sale than a daytrip to the zoo, a small H&S talk and a lecture of noise pollution around the pandas ensued. After finally being crammed into the substandard viewing area after being pushed and shoved by another 50 odd people attempting to get the same experience, with no space for photos through the mass of heads & bodies hogging the windows, we were then rushed to the outside enclosure without delay. At last, more room... finally this must be the panda experience? Short lived, for the extra room came at a price. Through poor planning someone decided to plant the noise sensitive panda enclosure bang next to the parrot enclosure which were squawking some anthem in the wrong key. The parrots even managed to drown out our guide who had to stop mid-sentence. Needless to say, Tian Tian had enough and the brief ten seconds outside viewing, turned to the remaining five minutes of her going indoors. We were then hastily ushered off to make way for the next group to be herded in. All in, I waited 4 hours for a meagre 10 minutes… at a push. So, let’s recap - Unacceptable queues - Overcrowded viewing conditions - Extremely short viewing times - Poor geographic enclosure setting
In addition to my panda experience I feel I must note the disrepair of a few backend enclosures mainly aiming towards the walkway towards the zebra enclosure. Not only did I, but our four y/o daughter got stung by the grossly overgrown stinging nettles. The side rows are infested with them but they encroach over onto the walkways. I think nearly 100 years combined experience in the game you could have foreseen these problems in addition to having a contingency plan I look forward to hearing from you regarding your thoughts on my visit.

If you start the letter by addressing an individual, then finish with yours sincerely. If it starts with Dear Sirs, then use yours faithfully. Keep it polite and business-like, and it helps to get a result. JJ

I've written the letter, have nooooooo problem putting my point across lol. I just had a brain dead moment when it came to signing off. I have a hundred things in my head now.

? I use anything from yours faithfully (if addressed to Dear Sir or Madam), Sincerely if a NAMED person of course to Yours annoyed, Yours very annoyed, you decide

It's polite and strictly business like but I've all ready had a run in with her on the phone when she was not polite or business like in the least lol

It's a must to be businesslike, but at the same time you should be assertive and set timescales for a reply. It is often a good idea to ask for the address of the industry regulator (if there is one and even if you know the address anyway) so that the recipient is aware that you are not going to let the matter drop with a quick fobbing off. Now, seriously, polite but firm works. Even had Nikon UK 'fold' and grant me NPS status - even though I don't 'qualify' under their crazy rules. [I don't have a D3 or D4 series body but I've got more glass than the 'Gherkin!'

I've never had any problems getting what I want before and never had any problems signing off before, I just had a blonde moment. It's polite, to the point and I have not asked for a refund, I have simply given her 2 options to return our money. Either direct from her or through the guy we paid the money to. Either way in cash as that's how we paid. Just being translated today so will send it this evening. keanmu
