SECOND WARNING – BILL JOHNSON and BETHEL CHURCH by Andrew Strom A couple of years ago we sent out a Warning itemizing a number of facts about Bill Johnson’s ministry and Bethel church in Redding. Numerous witnesses and videos from Bethel show that this church is spreading an “anointing” very similar to Todd Bentley – ie. spiritual ‘drunkenness’, jerking, hysterical laughter, “angel orbs”, ‘fire tunnels’, spirit travel, mystical “portals”, etc. Plus constant talk in their ministry school of bizarre angel encounters and trips to the ‘third heaven.’ All of it has an extremely ‘New Age’ feel. And it is still going on today. (But even worse – as we shall see). Bill Johnson strongly defended Todd Bentley – even after his divorce and remarriage. No wonder, for the ‘anointing’ that both men carry seems almost identical (though their “style” is very different). These facts are beyond dispute and have been confirmed by many witnesses. But whenever I say such things about Bill Johnson, people rush to defend him, saying what a ‘great guy’ he is, and what a great ministry he has. And yes – he is a very charming man who does say good things. If he didn’t, he wouldn’t be so dangerous. Deception always wraps itself in the best “sheep’s wool” it can find. Otherwise it would have no chance of deceiving the sheep! Why do you think the Bible warns of “SEDUCING” spirits in the Last Days – and ‘LYING’ signs and wonders? If the deception was not so ‘seductive’ then nobody would fall for it. And this stuff is very seductive indeed. THINGS Get WORSE Several years ago the Bethel crowd put out a book which we only found out about recently. It was co-authored by Bill Johnson’s administrative assistant Judy Franklin with a foreword by Bethel pastor Kris Vallotton. Bill Johnson wrote two of the chapters and his wife Beni wrote another. In other words, it has Bethel’s stamp all over it. (It is still sold on the Bethel website). So what is this book about? Here is what the blurb says“Exploring the mysteries of God in sound, light, vibrations, frequencies, energy, and quantum physics.” Does that sound ‘New Age’ to you? Yes – and it gets even worse. Please remember that this book has Bill Johnson’s name on it – and Bethel’s strong endorsement and participation. When you open the book you find chapter headings like this“Vibrating in Harmony with God”, ‘Good Vibrations’, ‘Quantum Mysticism’ and “The God Vibration”. And some of the subheadings are even more astounding: “Dolphins and Healing Energy,” ‘The Power of Color’, “Human Body Frequencies,” etc. You might ask, What kind of ‘Christian’ book is this? And the answer is that it is Bethel and Bill Johnson’s kind of Christian book. It literally has Bill’s name on it. This is a peek into the real Bethel behind the scenes. When you look at this publication, suddenly you understand why we see all these weird videos and testimonies from Bethel of strange ‘New Age’ terminology and bizarre spiritual practices. Now we know why. We have the evidence in black and white. We have shown the contents of this book to leaders and people that have been fans and supporters of Bill Johnson. They have verified the source of it. And just reading this content has turned most of them from being a supporter of Bethel into an opponent in a matter of a few hours. It really is that bad. So openly ‘New Age’ you could hardly believe it. With all this talk of “vibrations” in the book, perhaps we can now better understand why Bill Johnson’s wife Beni wrote in her blog: “I was talking with Ray Hughes the other day and was telling him about using a 528 HZ tuning fork as a prophetic act. Someone told me that this tuning fork is called the tuning fork of LOVE… the sound of this fork brings healing.” (Please note that crystals and tuning forks are used in NEW AGE therapy – not Christianity. And by the way, Beni Johnson for years has been CO-PASTOR of Bethel alongside her husband Bill). This might also help explain why Beni Johnson recently released a photo of herself “soaking” (lying down) on the grave of a dead Christian leader – and why Bethel students also put out photos of themselves “grave sucking” (as it is called) – trying to “soak up” the anointing from the graves of dead preachers. I am not exaggerating. They actually do this. I hope you can see how dangerous and unbiblical it all is. Somebody needs to confront Bill Johnson about it. That is why I am including a whole new section of these disturbing facts in the 2015 edition of my book ‘Kundalini Warning.’ And it is also why I am writing this article. When Nadab and Abihu offered “strange fire” before the Lord in the Old Testament, they were consumed by God and died. (Lev 10:1-2). ‘Strange fire’ is still deadly today. The body of Christ needs to be warned. As one of the graduates of the Bethel ministry school (BSSM) wrote to me: “There would be all kinds of distracting behavior (random shouting, laughing, etc.) during school sessions and church services. When any guest speaker came to school, students would flock to the front to get as close to the speaker as possible. We were taught that any anointing we wanted could be received by simply “claiming it” for ourselves… The drunken behavior and questionable teachings from some, if not all, of these speakers was shocking at times… I would always hear people talking about their encounters with angels and how they visited heaven. One young woman I knew said she could see angels everywhere, she talked to them all the time, and she would help her friends to do the same.” In summary, this is a very dangerous movement and the warning needs to be sounded as far and wide as possible. Clearly, some of this definitely sounds like California culture. When I lived there, people were really into forks and bowls that resonated different sounds, in addition to white sage burning. Perhaps, some of their culture is embedded into their thinking. But my question is, could some of this possibly be from God? I mean, the laughing and drunkenness. For example, I was worshiping with my sister down in Texas several years ago when all of a sudden I became semi-intoxicated. It was a pure, joyous feeling (nothing dirty) but I was clearly drunk-like. This has never happened again to that extent. However, another time I was using some oil for prayer and dedication and once the oil hit my hands, I felt giddy. I just wonder if some of this can be attributed to the things of the Spirit. This saddens me. The ministry of Jesus wasn’t about lying on graves trying to get the anointing. Things like this are the spirit of antichrist and they take the eyes of people off Jesus onto works. I don’t see anywhere in the Word of God where any minister called by God laid on a prophet’s grave to get their anointing. Whose grave did Jesus or Paul lie on? ARE WE AWAKE? ARE YOU AWAKE? CAN YOU BE AWAKENED? Mark 14:41- Or shall the Master say, Sleep on now! The all important opportunity is passed! “Wherefore He saith, Awake you that sleeps, and arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light. Do we know this is a most momentous hour in history? Do we realize what God is doing and about to do, or are we swamped by lesser things, by trivial things, by things earthly, by things of time and sense? Has the call of God ever come to you? Did you ever heed it? Are you utterly absorbed and swallowed up with the import of that call? Shall we men, upon whom is the call of God, fail Him in this last crucial hour? Must the Lord close this age, the while deprived of the fellowship and use of the ministry of the men He has chosen to assist in that momentous affair? And we miss the God-given opportunity and privilege of being instruments in His hands, to accomplish His great Divine purpose? The reason being, He could not awaken us; He could not get our blindness healed; we could not be made to realize the greatness, the tremendous of what was going on! As Jesus said: Are ye also without understanding? How is it that ye do not understand? Then opened He their understanding. Is it possible for God to get at you and open up to you His great plans and purposes for this hour, (Amos 3:7) so that you can see and understand, in order that He can successfully engage for you to fulfill your part of what He is doing by His ministries? Great, very important, and far reaching influences, currents, conflicts, and movements of earth and among men, are originating from Satan or else from God; conflicts for control and supremacy. There has risen up a group of nations whose aim is the domination and enslavement of the whole race. Their aims are wholly selfish and diabolical. They deny and defy Almighty God defy His laws and His worship. They have no regard for personal rights… Psalm 79:1 has been repeatedly brought to me: O God, the heathen are come into Thine inheritance. Currents of Satanic origin, psychical cults and familiar spirits are gathering millions into groups, bound and ready for last day worship of the beast. A deadening sleeping power seems administered everywhere. Warning voices find it exceedingly difficult to awaken people to the terrific danger at hand. All hands are asleep! God is also launching wide reaching currents of His power, last day power, for the purpose of the closing the Gentile age; also to perfect Over-comers, bring in the millennium, cast down Satan, rid out the tares, and for the saints to possess the kingdom. To assist in the accomplishing of these revolutionary changes, God is looking for men whom He can use. But so far the Lord has found it exceedingly difficult to bring these men to be understandingly awake to His present new and powerful last day movements. Busy! They are so busy! Not a minute to lose! Like the man who was so busy he had no time to attend to his own personal business! They are so busy for the Lord, they have no time to be with the Lord. They cannot take time to be still and hear the Lord, and know what He wishes to bring them into. It requires an awakening, an alertness, a keenness of vision, insight and perception, attainable only by direct and constant contact with the Holy Spirit. I agree Cory. Yes we hear a lot about and see Heavenly stories and spiritual experiences being marketed and pushed . . . but we need to be discerning. I know from person experience that we can have HOLY encounters with God. For me that’s the point of difference. What kind of God are the people in these movements preaching? Is he reverenced and spoken of with awe, or is it ‘dirty’ ‘easy’ ‘fun’ and all a bit of a laugh? Having observed some of the teachers associated with this movement I was struck firstly by their lack of biblical understanding; particularly of the Old Testament. I was also struck by how ‘cool’ their version of God was . . . how all loving and relatable . . . even ‘down to earth.’ These are warning flags to me. I love enthusiasm in the church and I’m all for experiencing God’s glory, but it has to be the real God, worshipped in truth, reverence and awe. He is Holy! 6. Janet Stanton May 20th 2015

I just want to say that I agree with everything you have written concerning Bill Johnson. I attended Catholic School for 12 years and then was involved in the New Age Movement for 15. I thought that when I repented of my sins, I was safe! I then got involved in the Prophetic Movement for the next 30 years. I had angelic visits and prophetic dreams, gold dust, etc. I went to Toronto about 9 times. When I first walked in the building, I said to myself, God is not in this but shortly after some people prayed for me and I was drunk for the next 3 days. It felt so good that I kept going back. I acted like a fool while at Toronto. I had been all over the country following all the prophetic teachers and soaking it all up. I thought I was moving in the gift of prophecy and was as good as the best of the Prophets in the country. This later turned out to be divination, not prophesy. When Todd went to Florida, I began to question things and seek the Lord. I read Andrew’s website and went on a long fast, seeking truth. After tremendous warfare, I finally was set free and began to study the bible for myself and the Lord lead me to a church that preached truth. I was baptized in the Name of Jesus and since then have stayed away from any teaching by this movement. I thank the Lord for your website and esp. for God’s grace. 7. ValleyAnt May 20th 2015

Cory, you’re right: culture does play a part in the beliefs of believers. God does do similar things; satan copies Him in order to appear real, but revivals and moves from God always feel holy and promote reverence for God, not a constant high for the people. Someone told me to read Bill Johnson’s ‘When Heaven Invades Earth’ in 2012. From the title, the book didn’t sound right; so rather than waste my time reading it, I read the back where Johnson writes, “Anyone can walk in the miraculous– even you!” I knew something was wrong about that statement and asked God what it was. He then took me to 1Cor. 12:28-29 where Paul, a much more credible source, tells us that not anyone can orwill walk in the miraculous but that walking in the miraculous is reserved only for certain people. The person who gave me this book to read attended a church connected to Johnson’s Church, and the godless practices of his church, promoted by Bethel, were sufficient enough to indicate what type of church Bethel was. The thing about Bill Johnson and fallen ministers like him is that they don’t really care whether or not what they practice and preach is biblical as seen in the above article; for them, as long as it gives a spiritual high, it is good. The Bible talks about ministers like Johnson and the other large number of them who operate in pride and substitute lies and their own preferences and private interpretations for God’s truth in 2Pet. 2 and Jude. These ministers are almost as anti-Christ (i.e. against and opposed to God and the things of God) as satan himself is. Though many Christians are asleep concerning this apostasy, the judgment of these ministers, as the Bible says, is silently stalking them and does not sleep, only waiting patiently, like a sniper, for the appointed time to take effect. 8. I love you brother Andrew. I went to the youth revival meeting with u in cambridge in 2005, and had a wonderful time with the Saints there. Ive been through a lot of different things over the years that God is growing me in. I know the spooky spiritual false anointing stuff has to go. I have seen Jesus and angels in my dreams, but I also focus on the Truth of clear defined scripture. I tend more towards the charismatic side but also love the old hymns and even enjoy baptist churches. I know that every christian has areas of darkness in their doctrine and theology because we see through a glass darkly. Are these guys legitimately Born Again and filled with the Spirit? I think some are and some aren’t. A few charismatic preachers definately speak in false tongues. Or they are so immature in it that it doesnt sound like any sort of prayer language. Is there a revival on the scene? YES most definately. The reason revival is happening is because its so hard to survive spiritually that people are growing in the faith because persecution is beginning, not because people are seeing gold dust in their houses. 9. Knight’s compound in Yelm, WA ~ the “haunt” of the famous and infamous alike, among whom you’ll find Shirley Maclaine & Linda Evans. At the Ramatha School of Englightenment (https://www.ramtha.com/) you can delight in the same stuff offered by Bentley and Johnson only on a much grander scale. Spirit Guides and astral projection are elementary. There’s a good reason the scripture is full of caution about false teachers and unsound practices. By such seductive and destructive means the Whore of Babylon will establish a beachhead. Thank God warnings are being sounded. Thank you for the comments and information. I grew so to speak in the prophetic movement. The Lord pretty much pulled me out in 2007 and since then I can see clearly. We are to be witnesses, and my question to those involved in those things are they glorifying The Lord and bringing people to Christ? What kind of impact do the manifestions bring? I think the truth is seen fully in scripture. I am all about Gods presence and glory, I love his gifts and presence. But when I hear this stuff still going on it grieves my spirit. It’s like immature children. We need to grow up and reflect the Character of Christ. For judging, I don’t think it’s judgement when we expose what’s wrong it’s what he’s called us to do. Bill is very tuned into the supernatural and the laws of the supernatrual. That is why what he says resonates with Christians. However, the supernatural is inhabited by both the good and evil. He not only crosses border, but is either clueless or wicked in his mixing of all things supernatural. In many ways, I have never heard someone so in tune with the “deeper” things and ways of the supernatural. Fortunately, as much as I identified with some of what he said (years ago), God told me I could not listen to him, so I did not. I am so grateful to God that his true colors are being made so obvious (I thought his endorsement of the New Mystics/Crowder). I came out of a lot of the same. The reason for our stupidity was we were looking for God in our flesh, rather than allowing the Spirit of God to transform our lives. But the problem remains all of ours; as long as we see ourselves as the center of Christianity we are deceived in our attempts to find God. Andrew, I really enjoy your emails and appreciate you standing on the truth of the word of God. I also agree that the New Age stuff is totally “out there” and not biblical and let me be clear, I am not condoning any of these activities. That being said, I also believe that we can’t condemn every believer that has anything to do with Bethel because some have gone astray. We are one body serving one God. If satan attacks them and they are deceived, isn’t he also attacking us? Our enemy will find the weakest link in our chain and come in. Once he’s in, he contaminates the whole body and Christ is coming back for a spotless church. My point is that it’s not just black and white (we are right and they are wrong). We all must pray for Bill Johnson and all of Bethel. We must pray that God will be merciful and bring them back to the truth of His word. It’s important to pray and ask God for wisdom, discernment and humility and then do what the bible says: Matthew 18:15 “If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. Andrew, as a leader in the Christian community, have you gone to your brother, Bill Johnson and spoken truth in love to him sharing areas in your life where you were once deceived and then came to truth? Let’s be like Jesus. Yes, we can warn others, but we also must be going to our brothers and sisters in Christ so that we can truly say to the Lord one day that we did as he told us to do. Galatians 6:1 Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. It is part of Andrew’s ministry to produce and provide exposes of these things. My q is always: “and where and what are your ((all of us reader armchair spiritual greats who would be the envy of the Sanhedrin)) works of righteousness” do not look to others and point at what they are doing or not doing and that’s the extent of your ministry. What are YOU doing, producing accomplishing, besides bewailing, for example, that “others are asleep” What is your commission? What are YOU supposed to be accomplishing? are you after it? A birthday candle lit on the 50 yard line will illuminate an entire stadium, not much, but more than an unlit one. So do what you can, work while you can…. have SOMETHING to show for your time here more than nods and agreement of how others are not getting it done or doing it wrong…. and i fully relate to Andrew’s cry, – have avoided some popular things things like the plague…. making me “just about as popular as a hawk in a henhouse or a skunk at a picnic” (Tozer) look, these self proclaimed prophets and their “big” churches and followings (ministry) are what? celebrity nonsense? we give them too much credit… and the fool(ed) that run after them get their reward for preferring the dainty treats of the lies rather than the truth. and Who is allowing and giving them over to it? They love the lie and are not guitless. So be busy shedding light and truth and do what you can,, you wont be judged by another person’s standard. but if all u ever are is “anti” …. where will your results and affect be found? There is nothing remotely spiritual about any of this it all panders to the flesh. The lusts of the eyes, flesh & the pride of life! It is purely sensual and demonically inspired. If the Devil only copies God, where are God’s crystal balls? Where are the genuine tarot cards? The true horoscopes? Etc. This is sorcery dressed up in Christian garb. Bill Johnson, Patricia King, John Crowder, Benjamin Dunn, et al, are all occult practitioners. Faith is not about belief in supernatural phenomena, it is about believing what God says without the need for experiences. A thing is so because God said it is and not because we feel it to be so. If the appearance of mere angels struck fear and dread in the hearts of men and women of God, and the presence of the almighty caused them to fall down as if they were dead, then none of what these people are peddling is of either angels OR God! 17. I have a question… has Andrew Strom, or any of you reading this, actually been to the Bethel, Redding site and seen it first hand? It’s easy to complain about non-Biblical terminology, and I’d say Quite Valid. But, should not one go with an open mind “What might the Lord actually want to say to me in all this? Can I sense His presence in my spirit in this? ” Because, what we see (usually) is a MIXTURE. Some True, and some false. I used to be involved in the Prophetic ministry in Seattle. I saw some really weird things– but also saw and experienced some really true and deep things of God, that He used to draw me closer to Him. Now, I am much more suspicious of that movement and doubt whether I could receive ANYTHING from it… certainly not the rubbish (we don’t want that) but probably not anything from God, either… because I do not seem to be able to operate the TRUE stuff in Faith, because I am on the defensive against the bad stuff now. So… has anyone been there to give some feed-back, e.g. “Well, there was this, that was just Heavensent… and, there was that, that I wouldn’t touch with a ten-foot barge pole!” Something like that, with Substance…? 18. This my friends is “THE WHORE OF BABYLON!” – THE APOSTATE CHURCH, Yes I know many claim the whore of Babylon is the Catholic church and yes she has her place deeply rooted within much of the apostasy we are witnessing today and the coming One World Order Beast System, she has so many abominations against God. as does most all denominations out there today do. These abominations against our God finds the whore intoxicated with such awful deceptions, her being indoctrinated with doctrines of demons and sadly she likes it that way having hardened her heart she is not willing to search God’s word for the truth that could save her and set her free. She likes her Freedom and Power and the awful works of darkness she walks in. Jesus said it this way. She thinks she is rich and in need of nothing, and he says one in this lukewarm state is “wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked” and he asks her to reconsider the state of her nakedness, which latterly makes him sick, while there is still time before she completely hardens her heart. So many of our churches are sick and have been flooded with pagan practices, witchcraft, meditations, and guided visualizations into the spiritual side of darkness the Kundalini spirit, angelic worship, unholy laughter, gold dust feathers, new age practices, portal travel, chasing demons, through spiritual mapping, commanding demons to leave certain areas of land, giving the demons names , this is not only un-biblical but forbidden. all this giving way to spirits of darkness, whom are out to destroy and manipulate those caught up in these abominations. In so many of our churches spirits of darkness have replaced the Holy Spirit. We even have many preaching a different Jesus one the apostles would not even recognize, many lying against the Holy Spirit. So much of what you have seen taking place here has come from the fallen Prophetic Movement and the New Apostolic Reformation Movement . Self appointed and ordained by men, not ordained by God. False Prophets, False Apostle’s, False Teachers today whom God has never called claiming to be Apostles and Prophets, many prophecy falsely, many caught in homosexuality, sexual abuse and drunkards, and adultery. holding huge Mega Conferences selling their latest books and videos as they take in millions of dollars as they continue to deceive the sheep. Jesus tuned the money changers tables over and sadly he may have very well turned these deceivers over to their lusts for money and fame. All this mentioned above we see in many of our churches today, Saints beware, if you see such as this, RUN! These carry with them Spirits of darkness, spirits of deception. I know, I myself was almost caught up in all this for a season, years back. Praise be to God I was spared, severely chastised by my Lord. Lets take a close look at what the Lord himself had to say about this “WHORE OF BABYLON” that is so strongly upon us today. We have seen this “RELEGIOUS BABYLON” the Whore Whom Rides the Beast identified as Apostate Christianity whom is spoken of in Revelations who will become a mixture of all the worlds religions as she will reject the true Christian faith. Jesus speaks of her as an adulterous Prostitute. She will eventually follow and serve the antichrist One World Order Beast System eventually under the Man of Lawlessness/antichrist, as she will commit adultery with the kings of the earth, causing the inhabitants of the earth to become intoxicated with the wine of her adulteries. She will be joined with the worlds political, economic, and social religious system. Saints compare this to the Manifest Sons of God teachings and the Kingdom Now teachings Replacement Theology and the Seven Mountains Teachings. Most all of these BIG Conference teachers are caught up in these teachings of darkness. The Whore will ride the Beast, she will be the enemy of and hate the Lords precious Remnant his faithful saints and will persecute them. She will be Head over all the religions united together under the guise of peace, full of sorceries astrology and all kinds of abominations. Even the Pope has called for all religions to unite together. He is a very dangerous man!!! Darkness and Evil Spirits will follow the whore wherever she goes. Revelation says this is the “TITLE WRITTEN ON HER FOREHEAD” BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. She adorns herself with luxuries, wealth and power She is very enticing. seducing many as did Jezebel of old. Well I have to tell you my story. About 7 years ago my son’s piano teacher told me to go to this great conference — all the heavy hitters would be there….Patricia king, James Goll, Larry Randolph (I think) & forget the others. I went with a friend. The first speaker came on & was actually pretty good. But the women sitting next to me seemed weird. They had long curling dark red finger nails & dark red lipstick & kind of looked like death. I felt in my spirit they were psychics. They laughed through the whole thing & I thought maybe I was missing the point. Later in the afternoon I went back with my friend & my 15 year old son to see James Goll speak. Mr. Goll laughed through the whole talk. My son said, “Mom this guy’s high.” I said, “No he’s not!” And my son insisted, “This guy’s smoking pot.” So we left & were planning to return to the night service. In between I looked up some of these speakers on the Internet & fortunately came across Andrew Strom (who I never had heard of) and his book. I read on his website about this “prophetic movement” and all the traits he described (like that holy laughter) I witnessed at this conference. I met my friend at the diner and said I don’t think we should go back there. But she wanted to so we went. So we were sitting there and now it was Larry Randolph. He said, “everyone named Bob stand up.” So they all stood. Then he said, “All of you will have a very prosperous year.” Next he said, “everyone named Sue stand up.” So they stood. Then he said, “All of you will be healed of your sicknesses.” With that, The Lord put into my head the scripture in Acts about the woman who told people that these Apostles preach Jesus & Peter rebuked her & said spirit of divination, come out of her. God was warning me loud & clear, even though this didn’t happen to me often. And I said to my friend, “These people aren’t prophets, they are psychics — we need to get out of here!” But my friend wanted to stay….so after about 5 minutes, I insisted we leave and I threw all their material in the trash on the way out. The next day, my friend told me that something had come over her and she was like “drugged” and could not get herself out of bed until 2:00 in the afternoon & felt terrible. She said she wished she would have listened to me & left when I said. She also said she’s so new in the Lord & doesn’t understand all this stuff so she said she needs to be more careful about what she attends in the future. Thank God for Andrew Strom & his warnings. Sorry about the last… I must have hit Enter twice, the computer was not co-operating… Portals: NOT in the Bible, in the sense of “we are opening a portal”. The only “portals” mentioned are in Genesis 28:17 where Jacob said the place in his dream (of the Ladder reaching between Heaven and Earth) “none other than the House of God [BethEL in Hebrew] and this is the Gate [Sha’ar, gate, door, port/portal] of heaven.” And JESUS said, “I am the Door [or, portal] of the sheep.” (John 10:7) In no place did MAN do anything to open it! Jesus IS the door– it’s already open for those who enter in by His blood! Third Heaven: ONCE in Scripture, in II Corinthians 12:2 where Paul describes a man (probably himself, because 14 years prior he was in Lystra and Derbe, and was stoned nearly to death– Acts 14:19). Paul says that what he (or the un-named man) saw was “unspeakable… not allowed to utter” (II Cor. 12:4) In Jewish lore, 1st heaven meant the sky, 2nd heaven meant either outer space or where angels and demons dwell, 3rd meant God’s Realm. While we ARE to be “sitting in the Heavenlies in Christ Jesus” (Ephes. 2:6) any visions we might see in that realm don’t compare to II Corinth. 12:2– so should not be placed within the same terminology. Spiritual Drunken-ness: YES, it’s in the Bible! But NOT in a Positive way! It’s found in Isaiah 29:9 –“Stay yourselves, and wonder: Blind yourselves, and be blind: they become drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink. For the LORD has poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes; the prophets and your rulers and the seers, He has covered.” This shows that God gives people what they want… if they want Deception, then that’s what they’ll get, sadly. But, I have a question: how does one learn to operate in the Spirit, to “turn on” the Gifts for use? I always assumed, just start praying for things, like healing. What about Prophecy, though? Just start saying stuff? Well, how did you start speaking in tongues when you were filled with the Holy Spirit? At least for me, I “stepped out in faith” by “turning on” my vocal cords, but didn’t actually pronounce any particular syllable (because I didn’t want to make it up out of myself) but then, found fluent syllables just rolling off my tongue… I was in control of loud/quiet, start/stop, slow/fast, speak/sing… but…I wasn’t making up the words from my brain, like I do when I am speaking or writing! So… how do we expect to Prophesy? That is going to be in English of course… so where do they (the Bethel crowd/Toronto/Kansas City) have it wrong? I really need some answers! We know the CHARACTER of God’s Holiness in prophecy… but at least Part of it is for “comfort”. (I think that there is TOO MUCH emphasis on this in the Prophetic Movement) … but surely one can’t dismiss ALL of it… ? Any clarification here…? What IS God’s plan in the End Times? I’ve understood it to be a great Harvest of souls (as in the Parable of the Dragnet, Matt. 13:47-50 angels here CAN mean angels, or it can mean God’s messengers)… but I’ve also understood it to be a final Purification of those who will be in the Bride of Christ group (Rev. 19:7-8). Dear Andrew Strom. I was at one of Bill Johnson’s meetings in Spokane, WA. I didn’t let him minister to me, but neither did I rebuke that spirit in him. I was seeking to be a part of the John D. Lake healing prayer room until the LORD told me to have nothing to do with them back in 02 or 03?? Johnson was a part of that. Way before I heard of or found Revival List, and going back to the late 80’s, it seemed impossible to find a church that was NOT moving in the psychic rather than the Spirit of the FATHER. There are no churches today that follow the HOLY SPIRIT. If any group is following the SPIRIT of CHRIST, they are meeting in homes and are under the radar rather than on the mountain top for the world to see. They will not need to manufacture false other world experiences, their daily life will be full them. Dear Andrew–thank you so much for being brave enough to expose the false doctrine of Bethel Church. I live in this city and attended Bethel years ago when this was all getting going. I fell for it because of my own pride and desire to “be someone” in the prophetic movement. I suspect many of the young people that are drawn here feel the same. I saw them rush to sit “at Bill Johnson’s feet” almost in worship and that was enough for me. He did not discourage them. Perhaps they were after an anointing, but this is what is so sad, the thousands of young people who are gullible and untrained in Biblical Christianity come here in droves. I do appreciate some of the things done to help our community-many from Bethel go out to pray for people on the streets. (But I have to ask, do I really want them praying for me? Some carry an occult spirit.) They reach out to the poor and do many good works. Recently the community of Redding came together for a Good Friday Service and Bethel was involved. I attended and felt sick inside over the mixture of spiritual junk for several days. I even had a dream that night where I believe God was warning me about things there. The bottom line I think is that we need to pray for these people who are deceived. Many have egos the size of Texas and are puffed up on “power” not of the Holy Spirit. Kabbalah came from Babylon, and it is the religion of the sons of serpent, and the vehicle for delivering the satanism today. Andrew, besides being aware of and alert to all this and telling others about this deception, what are we to do? Are we all in a time of waiting for God to move or is there something else we can do? It’s sad to see that so many people prefer to serve self rather than God. I’m now convinced that if a minister is not jealous for God to be glorified (as Jesus said, “Zeal for Your house has eaten Me up”), that minister will automatically desire to glorify himself in at least some small way. Thank you Andrew, Bill Johnson is someone we have felt very uneasy about for a while. He comes across as the more sane one if not a bit smug. The church we were in sent people off to Bethel and we tried to warn people and printed off your book to give some of them. No one wanted to know and thought we were just being judgmental. Andrew, I think we should get back to basics and know that Jesus told us the ONLY way we would know those who are not of Him is by their fruits – Matthew 7. If a person is jerking and shouting and it is not bringing forth the deliverance, freedom and salvation of that person or others, then it is NOT of the Lord and we reject it. I am saying this because we have to be very careful in putting the Lord in a box. If we do we may have condemned him when he put saliva and mud into a person’s eyes to heal them. Some of us may have been concerned that such behavior would drive people away. I don’t support Bill for the only reason that I did not agree with his handling of Todd Bentley’s situation. We are to have the servant heart and humility of Jesus to have His character. When Todd should have been a servant to his wife, he was cheating on her. In such ministry you can be sure the Lord Himself was not welcome. The spirits manifesting were not of the Truth. On the other hand I have exhibited some very “weird” behavior and I know it was the Lord. In Isaiah 30 we are told that The Lord (we as His Body included) will slay the enemy with our breath and with the lighting down of His (our) arms…As an intercessor I have shouted, danced, laughed at the enemy (Psalm 2 – the Lord laughs at His enemies) etc. Are people who engage in such things liable to be deceived? absolutely. If they are engrossed with the spirit realm and don’t have the character of the Jesus – of humility and servant hood etc.they could easily be entertaining other spirits. Remember the magicians in pharoah’s court who did the same miracle as Moses, except that the Lord of Moses showed Himself stronger than their “gods.” Be careful of labels – like frequencies are new age. If you read science and its recent discoveries where everything is made up of waves, you will realize that science is catching up with the Word (frequency) of the Lord. I am also going to add an example, which is meant to make you think. I am from a very conservative south asian culture, though I now live in the US. The picture of your daughter as a bride made her breasts very prominent. We were taught (as unbelievers) not to dress in a way that the woman’s body shape was too prominent. Our blouses therefore were loose and below the crotch of our pants. If your daughter had come into one of our “born again” churches, she would have been rejected. It is based on Romans 14:13 – not to cause others (a man or today maybe even a twisted minded woman) to stumble. Let us judge righteous judgment. Sue Walsh, Jesus was a Jew and He learned and taught about Himself from Judaism…all his earthly followers were Jews. He only ministered in Israel to Jews. Jesus was not a roman catholic christian. He did not believe in doctrines like the trinity because a fundamental declaration of Judaism is that The Lord G-d is ONE. You should understand that the enemy can only act by twisting the Truth, and using labels to deceive many. Kabbalah is from the Oral Law of the Jews. We have in the old testament the Written Torah. Let the Lord teach you and be humble to hear from Him without your preset ideas – you can study Kabbalah and ask the Lord to teach you what is of Him and what is not of Him. Cory, I will share what happened to me. I was first very wary about the laughter in the spirit, when it first hit my country. The only good thing was that I had already decided I would not criticize anything until I heard from the Lord. The following Sunday, I was filled with laughter and fell on the floor. During that time on the floor, I had an understanding of how great the Lord is. From that I knew it was not evil. However you probably know that the enemy imitates every gift or manifestation of the Spirit of the Lord. How did the Quakers get their name? Why was one of the Holy Ghost manifestations during John Wesley and George Whitfield called the “jerks”? If divorce completely disqualifies someone from ministry (as alluded to) 50% of the church is in trouble since forgiveness isn’t considered. Bethel Church in Redding CA, has quite an outstanding record of documented miracles and healings. When confronted by the Pharisees and accused of using Satan to heal, Jesus responded that Satan does not cast out Satan. Does Bill Johnson make mistakes? Certainly! Do I or you or Andrew make mistakes? Certainly! But I’d rather make a mistake than not try. Liz48, I agree that we should judge things primarily by their fruits or outcome rather than what they look like. (Of course, so far in these Charismatic camps, I have not seen deliverance or healing or reasonable effect come out of epileptic-like fits and the like.) Jesus did do some things we would consider definitely strange, but He had effect (whereas people today who do strange things about 99% or more of the time don’t have effect). I don’t support Bill because he posed a lie as the truth on the back cover of one of his books; and I have learned that a person who lies about small things will lie about big things. If Bill calls a lie the truth in one thing, will he not do it in other things? The Lord also led me to worship Him and dance to bring about the deliverance of a person bound by satanism and satanists. I agree that He can lead one to do strange things (He had a prophet lie on both sides for days on end, etc.). Again, what is the fruit? And while it is true that everything has a frequency, etc., the problem here isn’t really the ‘New Age’ wording that these Christians use but the fact that they are not being led by the HOLY Spirit. One of the things I’ve found about God is that except for Himself and His beginnings, which do not exist, He has made everything to be explainable; that means everything can be explained. Naturally, He made His Word and all the frequencies explainable also. But when we are not led by the Spirit and start talking about these things, we are guaranteed to get off track and be led by evil spirits who promise us fame, praise, and glory. If the Spirit led a minister to talk about ‘frequencies’ (the enemy abducted all these terms and activities so that he would corrupt what is originally good), the ministry would first be to the spiritually mature who are not inclined to go chasing frequencies and experiences (and are the people of Johnson’s church spiritually mature) and would secondly have godly effect in that the hearers would grow in zeal for God, fruits of the Spirit, and love for their fellow man. We see zero of these good fruits among Johnson’s people. I understand what you’ve said about judging, and judgment is only truly righteous when we don’t speak on a thing till the Lord has spoken to us on it (there are not many practicing this yet): “Judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes who will bring to light EVERY hidden thing of darkness and will reveal the counsels of the heart” (1Cor. 4:5). Jesus said, “You will know them by their fruits.” But which one of us knows just what those words mean? Only the Lord can say in one or few words why Johnson is false; the rest of us can often only see bits and pieces. There are many ministers who are doing what Johnson is doing with the ‘frequencies’ and such: hungry for glory, fame, and recognition, they distribute things that may be true but that the Lord has not told them to teach or has not told them yet to teach. The Lord may show them a revelation that many don’t know, and they share it without waiting on the Lord, because in their deepest heart, they are in competition with Him for glory but don’t know it. Others may receive nothing at all from the Lord but from evil spirits who seek to poison everything that God has made (e.g. frequencies and the fact that many things that the New Age teaches are taken from the good that God created but are defiled by the demonic and the soul); they naturally then share such things, desiring glory for self as the Lord “is in none of their thoughts.” Finally, Jesus made it clear that there are only two types of shepherds (or pastoral leaders): those who will lay down their lives for their sheep and those who won’t. I have found it necessary to get closer to the taproot of issues rather than hacking at branches, trunks, or even roots. If a man or woman claims to be a pastor but will not lay down his life (i.e. his time, reputation, finances, and well-being) for the sheep in his care, is that man a genuine pastor or a man of God? According to Jesus, he is not (though sometimes he may simply be a godly pastor still in a state of maturing). That standard is more of the taproot of the tree as to discerning a minister by his fruits; let us use that one if we are brave. How many pastors do we know who is willing to lay down his life for his flock? The notion is a concept, so there are few. It isn’t so much what Bill Johnson or ministers say or do but what is in their hearts. When Jesus told His stories and parables, He often shot right to the heart or root so as to make discernment and understanding easier for all of us: “By their fruits, you will recognize them… Which one of those men was neighbor to that wounded man… But inside, they are full of dead men’s bones… Why do you think in your hearts… He marveled at their unbelief (hardness of heart)… Why do you call Me good? No one is good but God… Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord’ but do not do… The man who hears My words and does them I will liken to a wise man who built his house on the rock… The one who has My commands and does them, HE is the one who loves Me… The good (godly) shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” The more we learn to look for and discover the roots of things, people, issues, etc., the faster we will be able to know people after the spirit and recognize people by their fruits so that we don’t have to sit around waiting for Bill Johnson to buy angel wings and try to fly off a ten-story building before we can finally say, “Yeah, he has missed it.” He missed it a very long time ago; it’s just now becoming more manifest to our eyes of flesh when it should have been manifest to our spiritual eyes from the beginning. 40. One should simply ask BIll if he believes that demons can cast alternate realities (like dreams) and deceive Christians into believing that they are experiencing truth. Randall Rathbun, I am sometimes amazed that God did not record certain things in the Bible and that Jesus did not explain many things either (though He did say the Spirit would do so as it was too much at the time, but the other things He did and said, which John spoke of, were not recorded either). One of those things that Jesus did not explain much was when He began to talk about the end by saying to His disciples, “Beware that no one deceives you…” He said that men would come saying that He (Jesus Himself) was indeed the Christ but that these men would still deceive people. Right there is sort of a signpost that says, “There is a lot more to this story than is recorded in the Pages”, because many say that He meant there that many would come claiming that they themselves were Jesus Christ. One of the things Jesus did not explain for us (but left to the Spirit who is well able to do the job) was HOW satan would deceive the churches and bring in the anti-Christ, etc. I know that myself, thinking alone, would– if I was opposed to God– seek to preempt every good plan He had, already understanding the spiritual principle that people tend to prefer what they are accustomed to as Jesus said: “No one after drinking old wine wants the new, for they say, ‘The old is better'” (Lk. 5:39). After satan has acted to serve his old wine, many will not want Jesus’ ‘new wine’ when He pours it out, because they will say, “The old is better.” satan is well-versed in spiritual principles and has more than one mind working for him to oppose God and the formation of Christ on earth (in the Church); that means he has a lot more to do with all this mess than we’ve been told. (Of course, also because of his presence and control of many churches, the position he plays in all this last days stuff is rarely mentioned.) What am I saying? Well, there is another facet to this nightmare which is that satan began planning from the beginning how he would get back at God, prevent God’s Kingdom on earth, and usurp Jesus’ lordship in the churches. His plan is actually to bring in the anti-Christ (the religious side) through the Christian church itself, not just through Islam or Catholicism. In other words, he and his evil empire are well able to appear as angels of light and create theater and 3D anything and trances and signs and wonders in order to deceive Christians. They are and have been doing worse or ‘greater’ (more ‘wonder-full’) things. So, false prophets, Charismania, and unChristian Christianity aren’t always the result of Christians gone wild; satan also has human workers (satanists, you can call them) who have been working diligently for years to oppose and destroy the churches and who masterfully manipulate people, things, and events in order to achieve their own ends. They have therefore begun ‘Christian’ ministries, churches, and movements that were bad from the roots and so cannot truly bear good fruit. These movements are meant to turn people off to God, bring people into bondage, and bring in false doctrines and spirits to damn those who thought they were turning to God. To conclude and summarize, there is a lot of satanic wisdom at work in what is going on including Bill Johnson, Patricia King, and the rest (when I say satanic wisdom, I don’t mean that these ministers mistakenly caught an evil spirit; I am saying that some of these ministers knowingly work directly for satan’s kingdom and for his anti-Christ agenda while others who are not aware are manipulated to do the same). I have also been surprised that Jesus said so little about this particular aspect of things, especially as I see all of it called things like kundalini and New Age. The roots of it are downright satanic with literal satanists working to promote the lesser evils of kundalini (and other false ‘holy spirits’), the New Age, etc., for the real satanic agenda. Hello all! Here in Sweden we have the same problem with the profetic movement. Christians get crazy and attend meetings with such speakers mentioned here above. Years ago I went to a gathering arranged by the movement New Wine, and I couldn’t stay for more than half an hour. I could hear inside: “They are playing with the Spirit”. Liz48 Thanks for your reply. Yeshua was not a Jew in that he did not practice Judaism. The term, “the Jew,” in the Bible does not mean “the Jews” of today. It meant either “the Judeans” OR those who practiced “Judaism of the Pharisees. As the Lion of the tribe of Judah he was a Judean but he actively spoke out against the traditions of man that they practiced. Jew is a relatively new word, it first appeared in the word in the 18th century. The word Jew was originally written as: Ioudaios ( Strong’s which finds its roots in Iouda ( Strong’s G2448) meaning Judah – he shall be praised. In Hebrew it is Yehuwdah ( Strong’s H3034) . Or Yĕhuwdiy ( Strong’s H3064) . Both have the same root: praised. That is who was on the cross, the one to be praised.. When Yeshua our Lord walked on the earth and later when Paul was ministering, “the Jews” were those who practiced Pharisaic Judaism. Yeshua called them a brood of vipers so you can see the connection to the serpent seed. Modern day Judaism began with a mixture of orally transmitted interpretations of “Mitzvot” (613 biblical laws) and ‘Talmudic laws’. It later included the rabbinical laws. Talmud consists of “Gemura” (“learning by tradition”), Mishna (“oral” Torah), and Torah. The actual Torah or truth is the smallest part of the whole teaching. This verse shows Yeshua’s stance on extra biblical traditions. He said do what comes from Moses’ seat, in the other words the Torah but not what they do beyond it which was Pharisaicalism or Judaism Matthew 23 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: 2 “The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. 3 So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. The man of God who brings forth this prophecy was mightily used by the Lord some years ago. He moved in the realm of the prophetic in the Lord, his journeys took him in the midst of what some have known as the “latter rain revival”. When I come I shall not find faith upon the earth but in a few, for when the time of testing comes many will depart from their Lord. Fear not, for I have given you the power whereby you may tread down the powers of darkness, and come forth victorious through every trial. As you are on the cross then you are victorious. I am showing you truth that shall cause you to overcome, to have power over the wicked one, this is the truth that will liberate you and those around you. You shall know also the fellowship of My sufferings. There is no other way whereby you may partake of this heavenly glory and to reign with Me. My word says that If we suffer with Him we shall reign with Him. I desire to make this truth real within you. As you keep them before you, you will in turn liberate many who are in bondage. You will have revelation of those who are in darkness and will have the keys to liberate the captives. Many seek to liberate but do not have the keys. Upon the cross continually you will know the power of My resurrection. If you will indeed judge yourself you shall not be judged. As you seek My face and desire to be cleansed by Me in all truth and sincerity of heart, I will judge you in the secret place, and the things that are in the secret place of your heart shall not be made manifest to others. I will do it in the secret place and no man will know it. The shame that will be seen on many faces shall not be seen on your face. Therefore in mercy and love I am instructing you in order that you may partake of My Glory. As you are willing to walk with Me and rejoice in your sufferings, you shall in turn partake of My Glory. Look unto Me for you have need of power to overcome the wicked one and the bondage in others lives. I said that if a man will judge himself he shall not be judged. It is not My good pleasure that the shame of My people be seen by all.How can I judge the world if I judge not first My own house? Hearken unto these things that I am telling you, for if you will not hearken unto Me thy shame shall be evident to all. God’s Part and Our Part I would have you consider My life on earth — the anointing upon Me was great and yet the temptations were great on every side; they came in one form and then in another, offering Me first the glory of the kingdoms of the earth and then in the form of reviling and persecution. There will be great glory given to My people but also the temptations will be intensified on every side. Think not that with the glory there shall be no temptations or persecutions. The glory to My church shall be great and so also the temptations from the enemy to turn My people from My paths. I warn you again that when the glory shall be manifested the temptations shall be great until very few that started shall finish the course. First of all they shall be offered great worldly possessions and then will come great reviling and unbelief. Consider your Lord, that as He walked so it shall be for you. There shall be need of great intensity of purpose. At times it will seem that everyone is rising up against you, trying to turn you from the course that I have set for you. It is written of Me that I set my face as flint to go in the direction that My Father had prescribed for Me. If you will finish the course the Lord has laid down for you, you too will have to set your face as a flint. With great determination you must walk in the course laid down for you. Many of your loved ones and those who follow with you will seek to persuade you and try to turn you from the course. With many words that seem right in the natural they will speak to you. Did not Christ rebuke Peter who would turn Him from the course God had prescribed? Understand these two things and meditate upon them solemnly — the persecution and the darkness shall be as great as the glory in order to try to turn the elect and the anointed ones from the path the Lord has laid down for them. Many shall start but few shall be able to finish because of the greatness of grace that shall be needed to be able to endure unto the end. The temptation and the persecution of your Lord was continuous. He was tempted by Satan in many forms throughout His entire life and even to the cross where the ungodly cried out ‘if thou be the Christ come down from the cross’. Think not that there will be a time of no persecution, for it shall be from the time of your anointing until the end. Difficulties and great persecution will go on to the end. The Lord must prepare you to be an overcomer in all things, that you may be able to finish the course. The persecution shall increase even as the anointing shall increase. In paths of judgment and righteousness shall the Lord God lead His people and bring them into that place which He has chosen for them. The Lord has chosen a place for His people, a place of righteousness and holiness where He shall encamp around them. All who will be led of the Lord will be brought into this holy place. For the Lord delights to dwell in His people and to manifest Himself through His people. The holiness of the Lord will be manifested through His people. Let the Lord lead you and He will lead you in the difficult places. He led His people of old through a place where no man dwelt, where no man passed through, in a place of great danger and in the shadow of death. The Lord will indeed lead His people again through such places, and at the same time will bring them out into a place of great glory. Understand that the way toward the glory is fraught with great danger and many shall fall to the right or the left, many shall camp on lesser ground. But the Lord has a place of holiness and no unclean thing shall dwell among His people. Put your trust in Him and He will bring you into a place of holiness. He desires to bring His people into a great glory — the likes of which has never been seen, for this is what the Lord will do for those who put their trust in Him. It is a place of darkness and great danger and it will separate His people into the place where He would have them walk. He will protect them from the voices that would turn them from His path. He will bring them through the dark places and treacherous paths and lead them out into the light of His glory. He will rejoice greatly over His beloved and cause them to be filled with joy unspeakable. He seeks to lead His people into a new place of grace and glory where He will indeed encamp among them. Put your trust in Him and He will surely bring you into this new place. Fear not the days to come, but fear this only — that you shall walk in a manner pleasing to the Lord. In this time I am ordering and setting up My church and it shall indeed be pure, without spot or wrinkle. I will do a work in My beloved that has not been seen since the foundation of the world. I have shown you these things that you may seek the Lord diligently with all your heart, and that you may be a preserver of His people. Run not to this one or that one for the Lord has so ordained that salvation is in Him and in Him alone. You shall not turn to this shepherd or to that one, for there shall be a great scattering upon the earth. Therefore look unto Him for He will indeed make these things clear to you. You shall not look here or there, for His Wells shall increase your strength and your faith as He prepares you for the times that are coming. Pavlot, the prophecy said, “The minister of righteousness shall be on this wise — his LIFE shall agree with the word… The deceivers speak first the truth and then error, to cover their own sins which they love.” (Caps mine.) This is exactly how you discern who is a true or false minister: 1.) A genuine man/woman of God will reflect in their ‘lives’ the Word they preach. ‘Lives’ here is much greater than actions. Anyone can act and talk and pretend and perform and seem righteous. ‘Life’, on the other hand, is everything regarding a person– the actions and words that issue from the inside of the person, not just the surface: “By their fruits, you will recognize them.” The minister who ACTS righteous but is false is like the man who goes to work and clocks in; after so many hours, he clocks out and goes home, retiring from work. He only works (ministers, acts, performs) on certain days, at certain times, in a certain environment. The minister who IS righteous and true is like a man who goes to work, clocks in, and throws out his time card, having devoted himself to the company to work 24/7. Jesus said that no one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the Kingdom. A false minister will be ‘godly’ only at certain times; godliness will not issue from his inward being: “Surely, You desire truth (integrity, righteousness) in the INWARD parts” (Ps. 51:6). God desires good works to issue from the inside, not to simply be on the outside. A true minister will be godly at all times; the Life of Jesus will emanate or issue from him whether he is preaching the Word or working a secular job or grocery shopping. This is never true of a false minister whose ‘anointing’ only comes out in ‘Christian’ environments. This is what it means that “by their fruits (the life that issues from within, not the life that is simply observed on the surface and in public) you will RECOGNIZE them.” 2.) False ministers cover their sins “which they love.” It never ceases to amaze me that God has set laws up in such a way that no one can bypass them. If a minister loves sin, it will actually be evident on the surface no matter how many powerful works and words issue from him. The thing is that people are accustomed to judging by the outward and noticing the louder or more pronounced traits in people and in their environment; therefore, if a minister is constantly preaching fiery words or performing genuine miracles, most people stop right there and look no further, thinking, “This is definitely a true man of God.” Simon of Samaria deceived the people the same way: because his ‘miracles’ were the loud and apparent part of him, people didn’t think to look closer and called him, “the great power of God.” We are the same today, even when we are Christians. If a minister loves sin, it doesn’t matter how he tries to hide it; it will always show on the surface (though one must stop following ministers and signs if they will take note of such things). It will be like a bad smell (it is his character, and you can’t go anywhere without that) that is always issuing from him no matter the circumstance. And if a minister is walking with God, it will always show on the outside also, even if it is hidden. Jesus, hidden from recognition, preached to the men on the road to Emmaus. When He revealed Himself, then the burning in their hearts made sense to them. Though He was hidden, His righteousness was not. So it is with ministers who are true and ministers who are false. Their righteousness and unrighteousness will always (always) be evident for those who will look beyond outward noise and things. “Fruits”, if that had to be translated into one singular word, means ‘character’. One’s personality can hide their character to the undiscerning, but the character (fruit) is always ‘manifest’ or evident on the surface. The character (fruit) of the Spirit is Love (etc.), and the fruits of the flesh are “manifest” as Paul said. I have spoken to people who thought Bill Johnson and Bethel were fine until they visited the site and saw the blatant deception. Occultic and new age beliefs and practises are touted as lost treasures and signposts etc to the church. Be assured the book is way worse than the sites promotion. Andrew you are gathering a group of dissenters. I wonder if you have made an attempt to go to Bethel or approach the leaders there. Matt. 18 We are all so good at reducing other leaders to ash. I went to an open heavens conference at Bethel in the fall of 2013. I saw or found nothing that was unscriptural and disturbing. There was a fellow earlier on in this post who said that walking in signs and wonders is only for a select few according to 1 Corinthians 12. That is totally incorrect, not sure how he came to that conclusion. But regarding excess or error in Bill Johnson’s ministry, I have found none so far. I haven’t read the most recent book that apparently talks about New Age phenom, although I believe there is measurable data within physics that can explain certain supernatural events. But if these facts or data take our eyes off of Jesus, then error could certainly enter in. Please, brothers and sisters, most of us agree that some of what is being indulged and taught at Bethel Church is not of the God of the Bible. As I wrote way above, I left this church years ago for that reason. But wouldn’t the Lord want us to pray and pray hard for our brothers and sisters that are caught in deception? Here’s the thing, when you are attending this church, there is a twisted explanation of everything that goes on. You will never be able to pin them down because they believe wholeheartedly that every single thing is from God Himself. And if you try to bring things to their attention, you will be labeled and mistrusted–not the mark of a healthy congregation. The brother above says to “go to Bethel and see the fruit”. Well, I saw the fruit with my own eyes. Yes, some good works, but a lot of confusion. I’d say mostly because the whole thing went wrong when they based everything on dreams and visions rather than the Scripture. Hi Wanda (and everybody), Thanks for your testimony. I see Brent and Lloyd are quick to judge those who they consider are judgeing. I wish they would check out http://www.heavensphysics.com which is the premotional site for “The physics of heaven” Bethel authored book before commenting. The bible is littered with people who seemingly were on track and then went off the rails and vice se versa. The point I am trying to make is that no person apart from the Lord should be relied apon to be consistant. Thats why we are to discern and judge all things spiritual. When people are looking into the occult,witchcraft and new age as stated and promoted in their book “the physics in heaven” they have gone off the rails. Bill Johnson and those Bethel leaders are decieved in doing so. No one is speculateing they make it absolutely clear in the book what they are doing. Also of note Bill Johnson has at the end of April 2015 rebuked his star Bethel student Jason Westerfield … for operateing in a false demonic impartation (and Jason seems to be doing just what is oromoted by them in the book). Does Bill rebuke his wife and students for the practise of laying on the graves of dead saints to soak up the anointing (as they put it). What I say is from a place of being deeply grieved about these people who are deceived themselves and being used to deceive others. I don’t think any true Christian takes delight in exposing these things. Secondly, these people are deceived into not listening to correction. Look at Rick Joyner, and Todd Bentley. They are blinded by the prince of darkness. From the very first sight of Bill Johnson, in the early 2000’s, I knew he was a pretender. The very first time I saw Todd Bentley on Daystar being interviewed by the Lambs, back in 2001, I saw the demons in his eyes. He was talking about people getting healed when he prayed for them. He talked of how he received the anointing and I knew he was counterfeit. The same is true of John Paul Jackson. To me, these people are very obvious pretenders. I am deeply troubled when Christians cannot and do not discern the lying, seducing spirits. Why? Because they are being deceived. Their spirits are being contaminated by demons and that causes curses of all kinds to come upon them. And, ultimately they risk loosing their souls. The bible states, “The Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit” as to counterfeits. The anointing comes with a severe price. It is very costly. It isn’t easily obtained “at will.” One is subject to the Holy Spirit’s will. He moves as He wills. You can’t turn it on and off. You can’t move in and out of the third heavens or see angels readily or at will. That is astro-projection, and demons who come as angels of light! That is occultism. Stop and ask yourself, “What is the great apostasy” the bible speaks of? What will be the great falling away? Jesus said that even the very elect was at risk to be deceived. There is also a scripture in Ezekiel that states God will divide the sheep from the sheep! The anti-christ will be one who deceives through sorcery. Sadly some people think that those who are warning others are just anti Holy Spirit gifts etc, but this is just not true, I think most people here would agree that the Lord still does miracles. However, Jesus warned us warns THREE separate times in Matthew 24 ALONE that many false prophets will arise and will mislead many and in His love for us He really wanted His followers to get this!! Matt 24 v 24 ” For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders so as to mislead, if possible even the elect. ” Look out! The tragedy is so many young people are being caught up in this and deceived. It is possible to get out of it, but it is a terrible trap. How do you try to deceive the elect? You appear as an angel of light with signs and wonders and say all the right things then use that cover to do do your dirty work. As Wanda said it is confusing. One of the most sure ways to discern whether or not someone is walking in the (Holy) Spirit, is to listent to what they say and teach about Jesus Christ, because Jesus told us that the Holy Spirit will speak not of himself, but of Jesus (Jo.16:13). Bill Johnson teaches (emphatically and many times over) that Jesus did NOT perform any miracles as God, but as a man in right relationship with God. Bill says that Jesus had NO power of His own while here on Earth, only that which the Father gave Him through the Holy Spirit. I don’t have time to do more than post this quick comment, but what Bill Johnson preaches about Jesus Christ, is called ‘Kenosis’ and I urge everyone to look it up, as it is NOT a Biblically sound doctrine and it has been refuted from scripture by many, many, people throughput the last 20 centuries. Once you grasp the fact that this is a demonic doctrine and that Bill Johnson teaches it, the rest of the picture is pretty easy to see. To those who defend BJ, please do some simple research into his teaching on the most important person of all; our Lord and Saviour. What you will find reveals that the ‘Jesus’ BJ talks about is the same as the ‘Jesus’ the New Age talks about and not the Jesus revealed in scripture as unchanging; the same, yesterday, today, and forever. 65. Sue……the question for me is to search my heart and ask myself, which glory am I seeking, God’s glory or the glory of kings? Consider that the very definition of occult is hidden knowledge. In other words there is knowledge we can search out that comes from the wrong Tree. The Lord showed me one time to see how Solomon for all his knowledge it led to a bad end. Though it may have been in type only, a living parable of the kind of Wisdom that we seek……….which is the Person of Christ for He is the Tree of Life and He alone is what we should seek. His word and knowledge is a light unto our path…in other words He gives us what we need when we need it as we walk along in Him. It is not for us to know everything for the sake of knowing everything, but to understand what God gives us to understand and what we need to understand either for our own walk or to help others along with theirs. Knowledge can lead us very far astray, when it is of a sort that takes our eyes off Jesus and onto itself and only serves to exalt self. It can begin small but lead to going very far off course all the way to perdition. The deception that is under discussion on this board right now began with just a little bit of leaven, that was left unchecked and blossomed and grew into what we now see. Adam and Eve were real people………see how they are mentioned in genealogies, along with their very real children. And it says in the epistles that Eve was deceived but not Adam. To Alan Heron: I am not defending B. Johnson, but your allegation in this case is incorrect. Jesus, NOT Bill Johnson, himself said, “The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do, for what things soever He doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.” (John 5:19). When he forgave the sins of the paralytic let down through the ceiling, the Pharisees said, “Who can forgive sins, but God only?” (Mark 2:7) But Jesus replied to them, “So that you will know that the Son of MAN has been given Authority to forgive sins… I say unto you [to the paralytic] take up your bed and walk.” (Mark 2:10) So whatever spiritual errors Bill Johnson is into, this theological observation isn’t one of them. And to “His Truth…” when you said that Eve was deceived, but Adam was not– you are correct… BUT, Adam was right there WITH Eve, “…gave to her husband WITH HER” (Genesis 3:6)… so, apparently, although Eve was DECEIVED into sinning– ADAM blatantly CHOSE to sin with his wife rather than to Trust God 1)either to “fix” Eve, or 2) or maybe “make him a new one” ! The discussion about new age is one that is very much needed. It is shocking to many of us here to see blatant new age in the church…..but I think the reason those on the inside of new age churches can’t see it for what it is, is because they have been slowly steeping in it for years. It began small and gradually increased and so now they are comfortable with something which to us is a horrible affront to the holiness of God. This is why the apostles were always constantly addressing any little leaven, before it had a chance to leaven the whole lump. As it happens I have just returned from a funeral for a friend of my son’s and it was a woman minister in black robe with white collar who conducted the service………who along with a mention of God also mentioned Buddhism and some “how-to” instructions about one of its practices. No hymns were sung, and no prayers to God other than a rote Lord’s Prayer at the end. The name of Jesus was not mentioned at all. Thankfully one of the dead boy’s acquaintances had learned a little bagpipe and played a couple of hymns as his own personal farewell to his friend. That was the only light in the darkness in that awful empty comfortless service. It also came out that the whole family seems to be involved in this kind of new age belief system and that the boy had died while participating in a new age drug rehab program….he had relapsed and overdosed tragically. It looks to me that new age has steadily moved into the vacuum left by rejecting Christ and true Christianity and that the devil is playing for keeps to kill or take captive the descendants of Christians here in the western formerly Christian nations. The sad fact is that new age is now mainstream in both churches and secular society……..and it’s poisonous fruits are being reaped in all kinds of cursings. I see how desperate the situation is now and that the gospel has never been more badly needed since our ancestors were pagans and Druids, and i pray the Lord of the harvest to take pity on our peoples and send forth labourers into his harvest fields, because how can they go lest He send them. 69. Sue………I was tired this morning when I responded to your comments and forgot to say the most important thing, that the Tree of Life is Christ and the gospel – simply Christ and the gospel – and not knowledge of anything other than that, and in knowing Christ is all the knowledge we need. I have stepped in dung-pile after dung-pile in my walk, only to finally by God’s grace to see the light that knowledge leads us astray of our first love, and is no help to anybody. The gospel is our first love and we should just stick with that. It is the only answer for anyone, just Jesus Christ and Him crucified, and our lives submitted to Him, not knowledge. Just think, our thoughts are to be taken captive by Christ, not “expanded” by knowledge. Where it talks about and extols the seeking of knowledge and wisdom in the Old Testament, I believe it is a type of seeking the knowledge of Christ. Just like the temporal riches in the Old Testament were only a type of the spiritual riches in Christ. Hi Alex, Good point about Adam and Eve. So then Bill Johnson will have no excuse for not rebukeing his wife for publicly promoteing unholy acts like, lying on graves to suck up anointings. But then they both encourage people to look into the new age,occult etc for lost knowledge or treasures as their book “The Physics of Heaven” advocates. Shouldn’t bells be ringing amongst the wakey wakey followers that this is just the same knowkedge satan promised would be given by the forbidden tree in the garden of Eden, but then they are convinced they get new revelations that supercedes the scriptures because their god is doing a new thing. People have to have a healthy respect for the Word of God to avoid deception and deceivers. And for clarification I am a born again Holy Spirit filled, tongues talking christian who moves in the gifts and practises deliverence…. L Alex Smith, I’m not sure where your comments about Adam and Eve fit into an attempt at refuting my remarks about Bill Johnson’s Kenotic heresy, but despite your ‘proof-texts’ showing that he is in line with scripture, you are incorrect. We are told to take in the whole counsel of scripture, which means we must take all the texts on a given subject into account when we are investigating such things as the Incarnation. The heresy of Kenosis is exactly that; a heresy, and it has been shown to be a completely unscriptural doctrine by many scholars of God’s word throughout history, which absolutely defines it as heretical. I won’t go to the lengths possible to show how far from the truth revealed in God’s word Kenotic theory is, for the sake of brevity, but here is a brief rundown of scriptural truth about the nature of Jesus Christ, the God-man. The Bible states very clearly and emphatically, that Jesus Christ IS Almighty God and therefore cannot diminish Himself in any way, at any time, for any reason. God cannot ever be less than totally God and as the Bible tells us that ‘in Him dwelleth (continually present tense) ALL the fulness of the Godhead’ (Col.2:9), that would mean that Jesus could NEVER, EVER, AT ANY TIME, have been ‘merely a man in right relationship with God’, as Bill Johnson puts it. The Bible says that ALL creation is maintained by Him:Col.1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. If He ever, for even a brief instant, ceased to be the Omniscient, Omnipotent, Omnipresent Creator, Creation would cease to exist. It also says that He is Eternal and unchanging:Heb.13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. We are told that God is ‘immutable’ in Hebrews 6:13-18. ‘Immutable’, according to Webster’s Dictionary means:‘Not mutable; not capable or susceptible of change; unchangeable; unalterable.’ The Bible also attests to this fact of God’s nature:Mal.3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed . The Bible does NOT teach that Jesus was powerless to do anything, but it does teach that Jesus submitted Himself to the Father’s authority, as those verses you quoted attest. There is a VAST difference between those two positions. Bill Johnson also teaches the abhorrent doctrine of Jesus dying spiritually and needing to be born again. This is absolutely false, as God’s word says that He was sinless and that no corruption touched Him. BJ also teaches that Jesus could not raise Himself from the dead, but that contradicts Jesus’ own words:John.10:17-18 17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. 18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father. Bill Johnson is one of the most dangerously deceptive false prophets in the world today, as his teachings on the person of Jesus Christ are an exact replica of the teachings of Helena Blavatsky, Annie Besant, and Alice A. Bailey, all of whom were occultists. Blavatsky was the founder of the Theosophical Society and Besant was a disciple, as was Bailey, who coined the term; New Age. Their teachings about the person of Jesus of Nazareth all speak of a man, who became ‘an ascended Master’, by which they mean that He ATTAINED Godhood. Johnson’s Christology insists that it wasn’t until Jesus was baptised and the Holy Spirit descended on Him that He was anointed of God. This Word of Faith heresy had it’s birth in the teachings of E. W. Kenyon in the 19th century, who was educated at an institution riddled with teachings such as those promoted by Blavatsky, et al. He is the one who popularised the teaching that Jesus had to go to Hell for thee days and be tortured by Satan and his demons to accomplish our salvation (spiritual death teaching). This is ridiculous for so many reasons, but firstly Jesus told the penitent thief that that day he would be with Jesus in Paradise, NOT Hell. Also, when Jesus uttered the words; “It is finished!”, the veil in the Temple was torn, symbolically removing the barrier between God and men. His words also mean; “All is accomplished”. There is NO Biblical justification for the idea that Jesus’ death on the cross didn’t accomplish atonement for the sins of the world. All this is by the by, but Jesus is God and He is man and there has never been a time when He was ‘powerless’, or lacking in any way. To teach otherwise is false. This is quite easily researched, but the Bible teaches us that Jesus was 100% God and 100% man at one and the same time. How that works out is beyind my grasp, but I accept it as true, because God’s word says it. The theory of Kenosis that Johnson espouses reduces Jesus (at least for SOME part of His earthly life) to that of a mere man, without any divine power at all. The Bible does NOT teach this! Alan, Great Scott! I was aware of some of this false teaching (Blatavsky, Kenyon, etc.) but did not know that Johnson meant it in that sense! I was only going on your comment about it. When you say that he believes that Jesus wasn’t anointed until he was baptised and the Spirit of God came upon him… I wonder how he gets around Luke 2:11 where the angel tells the sheperds “…unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Saviour, which is Christ (the Anointed One) the Lord.” However, I don’t see that “By Itself” that whether he was always Anointed (but didn’t use it) or whether he was titled “the Anointed One” but didn’t receive it until his baptism… by itself, it makes little difference. What DOES make a difference is whether B. Johnson believes that Jesus was ONLY a man anointed by God, or whether he was a man, AND God at the same time. Jesus said, “…if you do not believe that I AM, you shall die in your sins.” (John 8:24) and in 8:58 said, “Before Abraham was, I AM.” Isaiah said, that his name shall be “… the mighty God, the everlasting Father…” (Isa. 9:6) and John wrote “this is the true God, even Jesus Christ” (I John 5:20) and Paul wrote “looking for that blessed hope and glorious appearing of our God and Saviour, Jesus Christ.” (Titus 2:13) So HOW does he get around all these and is his belief system REALLY that Jesus is only a man and NOT God at the same time– or is that perhaps a mis-representation of what he is actually saying? Hi Andrew, Totally agree with you but its only now that people are really starting to recognise it because of the obvoius fruit, discerning the spirit at the begining and speacking out about it would have done much more sooner but then the “judge not” crowd influenced many to keep silent or waterdown anything they said. Never under estimate mans need for acceptance and popularity… its slowed down the preaching of the Gospel for 2000years.
