Dwelling in the border(s), sensing coloniality, enacting decoloniality. Walter Mignolo, Duke University Not all borders dwellers crossed borders. And not everyone who crosses borders is border dweller. Dwelling in the border(s) mean to inhabit the colonial difference, and the colonial difference is an experience people began to feel (whether they were aware or not), from the beginning of the sixteenth century when the partition of the globe (its regions, peoples, beliefs, knowledges, languages) was activated and materialized in and by global linear thinking (international law). Sensing colonial differences means sensing coloniality. Activating decoloniality is not deterministic. It requires awareness and will. And decoloniality could be activated in many ways. There is no blue-print road to decoloniality. I will present one road to it: the decolonial option.
