Andrew Drummond (/people/64bef62fdb35661a) If you’re asking about converting a bike frame into a pedal-power (/people/64bef62fdb35661a) generator for over 100W of electrical power, then a one-size-fitsall schematic might not be available, since frames tend to vary, but you could adapt something like one of Hugh Piggott’s wind turbine alternator designs (https://kat.cr/hugh-piggott-a-windturbine-recipe-book-the-axial-flux-windmill-plans-jan-2009-metricedition-t2907485.html) and mount a ring of a dozen magnets on a rear wheel in alternating polarity, with a set of 9 coils fixed in a corresponding ring a short air-gap from them, plugged into a 3phase rectifier to produce a decent amount of power for you to charge a home battery with - easily enough to run a couple of laptop computers and a lamp. If you would like to run a small kitchen machine with a bicycle, then you may want to look into the kinds of direct power transmission used at Maya Pedal (http://www.mayapedal.org). Then of course there are always those dynamos mentioned and mini-turbines if you just want to keep a phone or GPS working while out cycling, but I think those generally are not worth the effort to build them yourself for how little power they produce.
