>>165506869 oh yeah that reminds me, the next GitS series will be CGI too. I have a theory that the main reason why so much shit is being done in CG these days is because there's a shitload of CG animators who weren't good enough to make it in the video game industry, and are now willing to sell their services to anime producers at cut-rate prices. Which is why the CGI animation in anime series is a LOT WORSE than in video games. The good CG animators are already working in the vidya industry. Am I right on the money? View Same

>>165476670 None. Reboots are shit. Just continue off from the last episode (if an adaption). You will NOT recapture the style, ambience or quality. It's a by gone era and attempting reboots (remakes) is just cash grabs. Just look at kino this season, can't fucking recapture the original magic. Continuations on the other hand can deliver some level of closure, but it's not going to feel the same. Look at how jarring it was when they did slayers in 07/08, the up coming FMP could go either way, same for fucking LOGH . Shana's 3rd season suddenly skipped character introductions after a squandered and filler filled second season. Look at OVA birdy and TV birdy, totally different things, same for the various changes in OVA/TV tenchi. Tone of 99 HxH and 2011. Japs already reboot things and it's almost always inferior to the original. When you continue something decades or even 5-10 years later the staff have moved on, style has changed or some are dead. So you just never can get it to be the same. It might be hypocritical for me to say, but I do prefer continuations over reboots. Only for adaptions that never completed/ended on cliffhanger that has never had full translations of source material (and are good, so that excludes the thousands of manga/VN/LNs that get one season). >>165506962 Doubt it. I'd say it's more the time. You've got months if not years to build models for games, and like 3~ months turn over for anime. There could also be more unique animations in anime (that also need to completely break the model/physics when a scene needs to). Just don't think studios are giving enough lead time to make models look good and compose them together with background/2D foreground (so you sometimes get that rather plastic looking CG (be it people, cars, mecha) on pastel 2D, the colours just don't match). Or giving scenes multiple redos to merge them smoothly, we know it can be done, TV just can't/won't. Think I was watching a video about a game that blended CG into looking like a 2D game, think it was a recent soul calibur. So the technology does exist in some manner. Just creating models and then animation for 20min*12+ (and yea I don't think CG should be used for comedies or scenes of merely flapping mouths) is already more than a movie and dreamworks/pixar takes like 2+ years for 90miuntes. TV CG of that tier is decades away for nips. View Same

>>165509897 Also, I really think that trying to make CG look like cartoons is misguided as fuck. Like, you can make cartoonish CG models, but cell-shaded CG with outlines is going to look so wrong 99% of the time that you'd have to sink even more time and money into CG to make it look like an actual anime. CG animation is basically just programmed puppetry. That's what it is, and that's how it looks. Trying to force it to look like drawings in motion is unwieldy, misguided and awkward. The appeal of traditional animation is that there's a specific aesthetic appeal to moving drawings that's very different from the aesthetic appeal of seeing puppets move like autonomous beings. Traditional animation is fun because we see 2D pictures move and behave like 3D pictures even though they shouldn't, when we see them keep a consistent shape and move in a smooth and precise manner. CG is fun because we see puppets move seemingly on their own in a realistic manner even though they aren't autonomous. There is nothing wondrous about seeing 3-dimentional things behave like 3-dimensional things, there's nothing special about seeing puppets keep a consistent shape and move in a steady manner, the wonder of puppetry comes from how realistic and expressive those movements are, from seeing them overcome their own stiffness. Trying to force puppets to look like 2D pictures misses the point of both mediums entirely, because 2D is impressive when it looks ALMOST like 3D (whether it's lifelike or not) because the animation is very precise and smooth, while 3D is impressive when it moves like real objects, in a lively and erratic fashion. So when you try to force 3D to imitate the limitations and constraints of 2D, you lose the appeal of both and you force your puppets to behave in a more robotic manner, which is boring and banal. Unless it's really good enough to genuinely fool you but at this point you might as well just do traditional animation. View Same

>>165513518 '80s relied heavily on having the Crush Girls (and Dump Matsumoto as a heel) and the pop idol deal to draw in the teenage girls. Chigusa's one of the greatest babyface wrestlers of all time too. In the '90s things were going well economically until the housing bubble burst which is when attendance started falling. But because they had nobody to appeal to the girls the way wrestlers like Chigusa or Jackie Sato did the girls instead damn near killed themselves with a highly dangerous style of wrestling. Plus the multiple cross-promotion shows. Modern joshi doesn't have anyone that athletic or that charismatic and so hobbles along and I say that as someone who watches plenty of modern joshi (i.e. a lot of Ice Ribbon and Mio Momono matches).
