If I have some bloody X-wing lined up in front of my Defender can I shoot both the lasers and the ions or just one? If I ahd two kinds of lazers could I shoot them both? Would I require a cogunner I know there's not one on the Defender but bare with me to shoot more than once? Capital ships how the piss do they work? The Vigil-class has three dorsal light Tubolaser batteries and the CR90 has two on it's port side. Now these can be differentiated in the concentrated barrage which would give +1 damage to that portion of the Vigil's armament. However the difference would be much greater if these weapons were fired separately and hit independently. This however mystifies me as to the purpose of the various barrage manoeuvrers especially in ships where there are plenty enough crew for each weapon. >>48971353 >can I shoot both the lasers and the ions or just one If you were an experienced enough pilot to have the Master Pilot talent, then yeah, you can fire two different weapon systems in your ship as long as you have reasonable access to them. Otherwise, you've got to have gunners or astromechs (check Stay on Target for NPC astromech rules). >Capital ships how the piss do they work? [...] difference would be much greater if these weapons were fired separately and hit independently It's up to the GM to decide what is necessary. If you want to be tough then you might let a capital ship fire more weapons (more than 1 above the number of players ships, up to its max number of weapon systems), if you want to be less tough, you might only let a capital ship fire some of its guns (equal or less than the number of player ships). Blanket and Concentrated are like mid-points. Blanket is in-between firing 0 and guns equal to players since it makes the ship seem like it's doing something, but it'll only ever hurt the players if they roll particularly poorly. Concentrated is in-between firing weapons equal to number of player ships and firing more than that, since similarly, it makes it seem like the ship is doing more than it is, but there's much less potential damage since the bonus damage from the other weapons can only be applied once. So maybe you might want to just roll once for all of the guns and just apply the same result to each of them. And so if you want to get more granular, you just divide it; 2 rolls = each result applying to half of the same weapon system type, 4 rolls = each result applying to 1/4 of the same weapon system type. This way capital ships can still trade the heavier damage with each other without being too obscene with dice rolls. If players are actually in one of the capital ships, then if you wanted it to follow the combat rules as written, then the most you can do to speed up combat are the barrages or handling guns with minion groups where say you have 5 minions on 5 different turrets of the same weapon system type, then they'd make a single roll using normal minion rules and would only be hitting the target once. Either options speeds up the rounds in capital ship combat, but it doesn't particularly make it shorter since you're cutting down on potential damage. So again, if you wanted to speed everything up a lot more, you'd need to go with what I mentioned above and just make dice rolls that apply to larger number of guns. And yes, that is intended with the silhouette comparisons. View Same

>>48974912 Different scenarios and scenes the PCs go through are pretty interesting and varied. If you include the continuation adventure, it gives a nice taste of EotE/AoR focused missions to give players and the GM a better idea of what kind of game they might prefer to continue in. Kind of skips out on rules more than the others; like EotE had starship combat in a freighter, but AoR had vehicle combat in separate and shared vehicles, and then FaD had force powers; TFA doesn't give an introduction to any of them, which isn't that bad, but it's still kind of... meh. If you plan on having it be more of an introduction to a campaign as opposed to just giving everyone a rules primer, it'll be a bit of effort given how little of the setting's information is given to support a full campaign, but you do have a certain amount of freedom to pull make things up. As just an introduction to the system, it's pretty good and should keep the players engaged enough. So as long as none of the players is inherently against TFA's setting, it should be good. Is there any account of what it feels like, legends or canon? I wonder if an imprisoned Rebel on an ISD in a cell could feel the number of jumps to guess a possible destination. Some stuff has it being fairly obvious, while in other stuff literally nothing happens, so it's really up to you Also, the trick is that the number of exits and reentrys on a long hyperspace trip is heavily dependent on what route you are taking, so while you would probably not be able to tell where you are by pure number of jumps, assuming you can tell when a jump happens, a very experienced spacer could probably tell which major and minor hyperspace routes a ship is taking by jump spacing, which would be a cool plot point in a story, I think Anonymous Thu 25 Aug 2016 09:25:02 No.48982771

Specifically I remember one bit in the Thrawn trilogy where they say "And for once [Luke?] did not notice the jump to hyperspace" due to having something to think about However, in that very same series we get this scene after she's confined on a VSD: "there was similarly no way of knowing where they were going, but from the labored sound of the engines she could guess they were pushing uncomfortably far past a Victory star destroyers normal flank speed of Four five (OOC this speed is nonsense compared to the hyperspace speeds later established as canon but whatever, since a lower hyperspace measurement is better than a higher. Is there a fictional language from Star Wars which was fully fleshed out, and could actually be used as a fully functional language to speak in, like the Klingon language was for Star Trek?

Using the cost/Encumbrance of the Extra Reloads is a solid baseline, and then working up or down in cost/encumbrance/rarity on what seems right (25 credits for a pack of 5 bullets for a pistol slugthrower, for instance, might be a bit high, particularly if the planet you're buying them on uses slugthrowers more than blasters). As for missile costs, portable ones are listed in Dangerous Covenants on page 46. And pg. 45 has a description on how sellers typically sell grenade launcher ammo and such, and can give you an idea on how that might work with buying other explosive ammo, particularly in bulk. If you're looking for the cost of ones in the missile tube, they aren't there, though given the listed prices of other missiles, it might be around 50-100 credits each. If you're adamant on running three aces, keep in mind that Phantoms and Defenders don't mix that well due to both being huge point sinks; both Vader and the Inquisitor are slightly cheaper options while still being very effective. Phantom's most popular build is Whisper with VI+Fire Control Systems+Intelligence Agent+Advanced Cloaking Device, which clocks at 40 points of bullyism and mean attitude against everything but ps 9-10 aces and fat loaded turrets. Fel's universally agreed best build is PtL+Title+Stealth Device+Autothrusters, I've seen some people swap one modification with Targeting Computer or Hull upgrade with mixed results. Now, onto the white whale: Most succesful build with Ryad I've seen used had PtL, TIE/x7 and Twin Ion Engine mk2: a defender with TL, Focus and Evade is a mean mean motherfucker. Vessery with Tie/D is scary good as long as he's not alone due to his pilot ability activating twice, potentially giving both his cannon and primary attack a target lock to spend. Tractor Beam and Ion Cannon are both good and effective, Flechette cannon slightly less so due to its inability to lay double stress on targets. For extra hilarity, give any Tie/D the Ruthlessness elite upgrade and blow up ships just by shooting in their general direction/fuck up horribly and hit your own friendly aces. All good fun. He should always have that, and preferably Autothrusters and shield/stealth. Echo's main build is Vet Instincts with Advanced Acloaking Device, and whatever else you want to add. A secondary, hilarious build, is PtL (or Juke) + Stygium + Advanced Sensors, and whatever crew. You decloak, trigger Stygium for an Evade, PtL off it (if you want), Advanced Sensors and PtL if you didn't alreay, reveal green maneuver clear stress. The action economy and bizarre decloaking makes it unpredictable as hell. Those theee pilots however, do not tend to work well together due to their respective costs. I would recommend dropping one in favor of a cheaper ace, like Omega Leader, Inquisitor, an Advanced x1 (peobably not Vader), or some good ol' ties. Juke is a powerful little EPT at 2pts, and makes it detrimental for your opponent to ignore a tokened up ship. And with Ryad, it has the added bonus of likely producing a greater effect, from focus tokens being spent before her attack. Juke is awesome on anyone who can reliably get evades. It's legitimately brilliant beyond the occasional iffy dialogue delivery and even that's somewhat charming. ANH was carried by it's last half hour, and what a half hour it was, but ESB is just never dull and frequently touching. Everything with Yoda is sublime and the duel in Bespin was even better than I remembered. Also forgot to talk about this last night but was ANH one a one-take budget? I ask because when the stormtroopers break into the control room one hit's his head on the lowered door and it's very funny but obviously non-intentional. Fastest way to learn the core mechanics of the system is the Beginner Game, you can either buy one or just download it from the OP. Hey /swg/, question. For the FFG RPG, In the EotE material somewhere--I think in Fly Casual--there are signature abilities for the Snuggler. One of them lets you tip a die to an Adjacent face and stuff, which is flavorful and powerful and awesome and I want to use it... but how the hell can you use something like that online? I don't have a local group or anything, so if I can't get it to work online, I don't think I can use it even though it's the thing I want to play with the most. >>49016718 Only way you could really do it is if you and the GM assign numbers to similar die faces then basically do coin toss/die roll to determine which of those faces is the one represented for each die, and then you'd have to refer back to either pictures of dice or have dice in front of you. Or the GM could let the smuggler roll every roll (or just the rolls the smuggler thinks before-hand he might be altering) and use the honor system. Basically, unless there's alternatives I'm missing, it's going to be some degree of a hassle any way you slice it. View Same

All I can think of is "pester the guy who makes the roll20 dice script to add a tiny number and/or mouseover tooltip to say which die face it actually is, so I can make my fucking chart." but I don't know if that'll actually happen. And desu, fuck the honor system. Last time I was told to use the honor system, I never once fudged a roll--but other players online blatantly were. So every time I got lucky, I was suspected of cheating by everyone, because they all were. It left a bitter taste. Anonymous Sat 27 Aug 2016 07:37:19 No.49017455

>>49017455 The only real fuckery is the Obligation/Duty/Morality problem. Here's the skinny: Obligation is negative. You get perks for taking more, but more is worse for you. This is what Han Solo had with Jabba--a debt. Duty is positive. More of it is better for you, and it helps you in roughly the same way Obligations hinder you. Basically, it's your rep with the Rebellion, more or less. Those two are easy--just pick one or both for the whole team as appropriate for the type of campaign. Duty for Rebels, Obligation for anyone else. The tricky bit is Morality. Morality is just your Force alignment, and it only does anything for Force Sensitive characters. That means in a mixed party, some people will have it, and others won't. Here's the rub: You can get a tiny bonus hit of XP or similar from this, as well as potentially getting perks for maintaining a very high (or diving into a very low) Morality. But don't say I never gave you nothin'. kid--here's my houserule that solves the Morality problem: Everyone gets Obligation the same as normal. Force Sensitives get Morality as normal, the others do not. Give everyone who isn't Force Sensitive +5 XP, and +1,000 credits free and clear to represent that they have a more well-rounded life experience. Now everything is in balance, and it's all gravy. You can do the same with Duty-Morality too, but trying to do Obligation-Duty-Morality is a mess and I don't recommend it. I find Obligation-Morality is best because Duty is the easiest one to divorce from it's mechanics and handle in pure roleplay: If the Rebels like you, they like you. If they don't, they don't. Obligations like debts and whatnot can be more concrete and strict, and it makes the meatier in system. Anonymous Sat 27 Aug 2016 07:55:52 No.49017607

>>49017535 Obligation is one those things which is more of a two edged game mechanic depending on how you use it, if you keep it pretty low then it doesn't trigger very often- though if it gets way too high its a motivation for PC's to address their shit and deal with their characters choices. However, in saying that its a line of big credit that they can if they choose to access it. Its completely up to them! For example if Bob the Trando thug decides fuck it, we need some big armour and huge fucking guns to deal with some punks then they can get some obligation which will have some loanshark, arms dealer, crime lord 'sponsor' the group for the creds or gear. Though crossing an arms dealer is generally a really shit idea! Or, maybe the group decides some hard to get, expensive stealth systems for their ship to smuggle stuff- plenty of spice dealers out there will sponsor a good crew with some tricked up shit to run the merch, its just that every now and then they're going to have to do some 'freebie runs' for him. At the end of the day, the cash and gear can be theirs, they just need to accept the fact that its not 'Free Stuff' and there are consequences for their actions. The temporal ability to sneak past Imp blockades, shoot the heck out of enemies and so forth does have a price to it when they decide to access that little power-up. As a GM, I love this shit- that random factor of it come swinging in on doubles can be hilarious, violent and some of the most memorable parts of any campaign, PC's of course go 'aw shit'- but it does make them deal with their characters on a more meta sense that they're not just stats and paper, they have histories. >>49017607 I'd still say just do the Obligation-Morality combo, and let the rest be in roleplay. But that's just, like, my opinion, man. >>49017650 This, basically. Obligation is an open-ended credit card you can use as a player, and the smart GM is always trying to be a clever salesmen--setting them up in situations so they always struggle with that debt. Keeps the plot moving. You can even apply Obligations of the more abstract types too--need special martial arts training, or help with illegal activity? Oath to monks or a criminal syndicate. Need to do something awful to prevent a greater evil? Responsibility is yours. Redback Sat 27 Aug 2016 08:12:50 No.49017741

>>49017698 Course its up to the PC's on 'what' they want to spend Obligation on at start as well- you wanted that extra xp and cash at start, well son, you got to pay for that shit one way or another! A smarter PC will also have someone that can Negotiate the 'cost' down as well, your Friendly Local Crimelord might want 20 Obligation for fat cash and gear- if you're good enough Negotiation you can hammer that down to 10-15 with some fate points, haggling and... god help us, actual roleplaying for once in a while to give them some bonus blue dice. >>49017100 R4-D6 is the better astro for Biggs. Basically it makes it so that if he's going to take at least three hits from an attack, he can convert anything beyond 2 hits into stress. It makes Biggs a lot more survivable, and annoying to kill. Torps fired by ships with GC and a primary of 2, require a bit more to eat through his health. If he does die to the first salvo of JM 5k torps, it's very likely he will be the only ship getting attacked that round. Anonymous Sat 27 Aug 2016 09:49:57 No.49018327
