Overview This CompTIA A+ Training Suite fully prepares for the 2012 Edition of CompTIA's A+ Essentials exam 220-801 and CompTIA's A+ Practical Application exam 220-802 while covering the latest exam objectives. You will learn how to build, configure, and maintain a PC as well as learn the basics of networking and security. You will also learn through instructional videos and industry-leading lab simulations how to perform tasks such as connecting to a printer from a different office and troubleshooting the configuration of mobile devices.

The simulators include: Hardware EnvironmentTM - Work on personal computers (PC) just like a PC technician would to perform everyday PC repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks. New diagnostic tools include memory tester and power supply tester for hardware repairs. Software EnvironmentTM - The simulators have been upgraded to now support the Windows 7 environment giving the student knowledge of this new operating system. Corporate Office EnvironmentTM - Working in a simulated office environment, you will be required to complete tasks on several computers in different offices. For example, you may be asked to set up a network printer in one location. The Most Realistic and Effective Learning Experience Possible Our new A+ 2012 training has been updated to now integrate our hardware simulations with our OS (Operating System) simulations. This allows for more realistic configuration and troubleshooting scenarios. For example, in order to install a NIC (Network Interface Card) you must first turn off the computer and physically install the NIC. Once installed, you will then boot up the computer and log into Windows in order configure the new NIC. In the actual simulations this translates to a virtual work bench with accessories (NICs, Video Cards, A+ Demo - Click Printers, Cables, etc.) and virtual PCs (Personal Computers) that can either be configured physically on the work bench or logged into and configured within the Windows environment. Here This allows us to push our simulations to the next level where they're not only aware of the Windows environment; but also the physical state of the PC as well as any configuration changes a student makes. Beginning with a brief introduction to “Hardware Basics” and “Operating System Basics”, and then moving into the areas of “PC Maintenance”, “System Components”, “Peripheral Devices”, and “Storage” - among many others, this A+ training suite will prepare the student with the skills needed to succeed both on exam day and on the job.
PC Pro LabsTM The PC Pro Labs is designed to give you professional IT technical support experience. All of the labs combine hardware and software and are staged in a new simulated office environment. You will be required to complete tasks on several computers in different offices. For example, you may be asked to set up a network printer in one location and then go to a different office space and set that network printer as the CEO’s default printer. Also included are new Capstone simulations. Each will put your cumulative knowledge to the test by requiring you to perform true-to-life tasks such as troubleshooting a PC that a customer drops off and simply tells you “It won’t turn on”. You’ll also find new diagnostic tools including a memory tester and power supply tester. Hardware Environment (Hands-on Labs) Hardware devices provide real-to-life experiences and behaviors Real-to-life features on the hardware devices include: Activity lights Power switches (if necessary) Power lights Over 60 different hardware components in the course include: Desktop cases Motherboards Processors Hard disk drives Power Supplies Video Cards Printers Cables Network adapters Security and fault tolerant devices Wireless Access Points (APs) and wireless adapters (A,B,G,N standards) Software Environment (Hands-on Labs) The following operating systems and interfaces are simulated: Windows 7 Ultimate (workstations and laptops) Wireless A/B/G/N Access Point (configured through a web browser) Corporate Office Environment (Hands-on Labs) The simulated corporate office environment allows you to complete tasks in different areas of the office just like the real world requires. It uses an interactive image/diagram to move between six typical offices (workstations and laptops) and a networking closet with a rack.
