Business Arising From the Minutes There was no further business arising from the 2015 minutes.

5.

Program Year-End Report Jessica reported that our membership stands at 221 members. We ran a total of eight courses for the fall session and one seminar, all of which were fully attended. One course was cancelled due to insufficient enrolment. For the winter session, we ran 10 courses. One course was cancelled due to an issue with the professor. There were 33 audits by All members in 49 courses.

6.

Brown Bag Lunch Lecture Report Grant Lohnes reported that ALL has had a very good year of BBL’s with interesting lectures and good winter weather. There has been a good amount of positive feedback. Anthony inquired as to whether some lectures might be held offsite; however, we have tried this in the past without success. There was discussion as to whether Room 242 is large enough, as it was filled to more than capacity on several occasions, with attendees standing. Grant will look into whether we should have a larger room for the BBL’s.

7.

Last Year’s Changes to Advisory Board Calendar, Procedure & 50+ The changes appear to be positive for ALL. Heather suggests that weekend seminars could likely be another positive addition to our changes. Susan commented that we may consider to partner with local inns to promote our future weekend seminars as weekend getaways. The new Board meeting schedule has been a popular change for the Board members.

8.

New Advisory Board Members Carolyn Mallory introduced Ilze Andzans and Jim Prime to the meeting. Susan Surette Draper moved to elect Ilze Andzans, Jim Prime, as well as Alison Scott Butler to the Advisory Board. The motion was seconded by Anthony Harding. Carried unanimously.

9.

Program Suggestions Suggestions were: world religions, mindful meditation for physical and cognitive health, art history, genealogy, baseball history, gardening, independent travel, conversational Spanish, Nova Scotia immigration history, native culture, Acadian history, the history of Acadia University as well as the architecture of the university. Heather McNally suggested weekend workshops and/or seminars would be of interest to those who cannot commit to a season of courses. With respect to the proposal of helping those who cannot afford ALL courses due to disability/financial issues, Heather will investigate further information from the Valley Learning Association. Gisela suggested that the ALL Board could reach out to other local organizations who could cull needed volunteers for their programs from our pool of ALL members. Ilze suggested the topic of wine/cheese making in the Valley. She will look into this and report back at the next meeting.

10.

Adjournment There being no further business, at 1:35 pm Heather McNally moved to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Susan Draper.
