1) The previous meeting minutes and agenda were approved by the committee. 2) Two session proposal were submitted last year. One by G. A. Rassati and one by J. F. Hajjar. The session proposal submitted by J. F. Hajjar, "What's new in 2010 Specifications for Composite Structures," was accepted. The session was scheduled on Thursday May 13 from 1:15 to 2:15 pm in Sun C. The session was well attended by about 30 people. 3) The hybrid coupled walls (HCW) design guideline was developed as part of a special project through the committee. It has been authored by Sherif El-Tawil, Patrick Fortney, Kent Harries, Bahram Shahrooz, Yahya Kurama, Mohammad Hassan and Xiangdong Tong. The design guideline has been published by ASCE. It is available in the ASCE bookstore and is selling quite well. 4) There have been no new applications for special projects. Applications are encouraged and requested from the committee members. 5) The ASCCS 2009: 9th International Conference on Steel Concrete Composite and Hybrid Structures

was held in Yorkshire, England in July 2009. There were 120 attendees from 22 countries. The conference was a success. The next conference will be held at the end of 2011, most probably in Singapore with the help of Richard Liew. 6) The 4th International Conference on Steel and Composite Structures will be held in Sydney, Australia in July 2010. The conference chair is Brian Uy, who is an active member of the committee. There are 150+ papers that will be presented from various countries. 7) There was some discussion of updating the technical side of ASCE 3. Action Item: The Chair will communicate with the Codes and Standards Activity Committee (CSAC) for update / reballoting for ASCE 3 (Standard for the Structural Design of Composite Slabs), and ASCE 9 (Standard Practice for the Construction and Inspection of Composite Slabs). Will Jacobs, Amit Varma, and Max Porter (original editor of ASCE 3) would like to help. Consider the diaphragm design publication from NCSEA with the help of Tim Mays or Rafael Sabelli.

8) There was considerable discussion of current research by members and friends of the committee. From this discussion, two session proposals were identified for the next conference. Action Item: Amit Varma and Sherif El-Tawil will collaborate and submit a session proposal focusing on the effects of composite slab behavior on structural integrity, robustness and collapse of building structures. Action Item: Mina Dawood will submit a session proposal focusing on advances in steel concrete and steel FRP composite structures. 9) Roberto Leon commented on the possible joint ASCE / ACI committee on composite construction. The action items from last year still need to be addressed: Action Item: (i) Roberto Leon will write a memo to the chair explaining the rational and advantage of merging the ASCE and ACI composite construction committees. (ii) The committee chair will forward Roberto’s email to the membership and conduct an email poll to evaluate interest in the merger. If merged, the committee will be housed with ASCE. 10) Amit Varma has been nominated by Judy Liu to be the next chair of the committee. The nomination has been approved by the EXCOM. The news was well received by the committee. 11) The committee thanked Judy Liu for her years of leadership and service as the committee chair. 12) The meeting adjourned at approximately 10:00 AM.
