Proper education and correct enlightenment according to which standards? It is easy to speak of these things without having any explanation as to what is actually meant - thereby rendering the entire proposal basically meaningless.

[Mod1-Mike] I agree Johnny. As I have written before: We are all tired, dismayed and disgusted over the hardheadedness of Filipinos. We never seem to learn. Rizal wrote about it, Jacinto and Mabini lamented on it, Bonifacio died of it. Over a century hence and we're still at it. We keep on looking for heroes and saviors but what we all fail to do is to take it upon ourselves the responsibility of making a nation we can all be proud of. DF stands by it's call and reminds every Filipino to rise from the prejudice that divides us through proper education and correct enlightenment moreover to remind our government that they mandated not to serve a few.

", the many who blindly follow religious dictates without any regard for the true concept of who is God." As opposed to *your* understanding being the "true" one? I cannot hear anymore of this "listen not to your religious leaders, but to us" nonsense. Has it ever occured to you that it is precisely because of understanding that certain people have a firm trust in the authority of their respective religious leaders?!

[Mod1-Mike] To add and to reiterate, the Nation's colors is EVERYTHING that symbolizes Filipinos, in marketing this is what you call branding. It has a lot to do with the unification of Filipinos, because under the flag there is no rich and poor, there are no religions and there are no political affiliations. Read on how flags affect the unification of a people during the war, so you will know about this fact.

@Johny. Johny, I think you missed the entire point of the post. This has nothing to do with 'literally' wearing either yellow. The admin could not be anymore right with this article. It was not meant to be taken literally, but figuratively. Keep up the good work guys.

I got your point, my friend. But then I still don't consider your proposal of wearing the national colors. What is really needed is for Filipinos to change all their bad habits to good ones and so on that blocking our way to progress. That is the best action that we should do. But can every Filipino really wants change?

Definitely Filipino ... • 7 years ago

[Mod1-Mike] To answer your question Johnny, It is by breaking away from ignorance and arrogance that breeds prejudice. Ignorance, I have answered above. Arrogance is the many who blog about change but confine such passion online, the many who blindly cast their confidence based on media hype, the many who blindly follow religious dictates without any regard for the true concept of who is God, the many who go to school but fail to benefit their motherland and instead contribute to her debauchery, worse of all the many who exclaim Proud to be Filipino but continue to disregard the beautiful land Filipinos had been blessed with thus the flash floods, the importation of rice and the fish kills. Rizal has asked us over a century hence to break free from the shackles of ignorance but what do we do we do? We replied to the call with arrogance and what did we get? Politics marred with the pageantry of the hypocrites. Rise from the prejudice that divides us through proper education and correct enlightenment; to accept that we are a third world nation that needs foreign investors to oil our economy because truth is, we can not forever rely on our OFW's; to learn humility because that is fundamental for a people who know God; to empower the countryside with proper land reform and finally enable the majority with sustainable development which Thailand has benefited from, thanks to the rice technology that PH pioneered and most of all, to provide a system of government that is not tipped to serve a few.

Then what kind of ACTION that you would want the Filipinos to prove of what they are? As I have said colors has nothing to do wether for physical show or not. It is more on us how we should act, speak for our country.

Definitely Filipino ... • 7 years ago

[Mod1-Mike] You have missed the purpose of the advocacy, Johnny. I reiterate: Wearing the country's colors doesn't mean that the President or each one of us should wear it physically but each Filipino should wear our Nation's colors proudly THROUGH ACTION and not through empty rhetorics of Filipino pride. Wearing a barong is symbolic but what counts more is translating that pride into serving the Nation and doing away with prejudice that divides our people. The DF blog and community is composed of diverse ideas. DF offers the arena for a free flow of ideas as contributed by our members. It is in this regard, that DF endeavors to allow the readers to be critical of what they read. Followed by empirical thinking. In invoking Wayne Dyer: "The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don't know anything about."

Going back to that National Colors you mentioned I will sight in here an example that what you proposed will not exactly give the true sentiment among the Filipino people if they chose to wear clothes signifying our national colors. Just after the so called edsa revolution in 1986 the then PNP-INP Chief, General Fidel Ramos introduced to our AFP the wearing of that Filipino Flag badge in our soldier's uniform. That was to show that the AFP was reformed and united. The word NEW was also included in the title of our PNP-INP. I think it is on us itself if we really want to be united not in the wearing og dress/clothes with our national colors.

If your intention really is for all Filipinos become more united I suggest that you post items or topics here that are not divisive among the Filipino people. Like for example the planned to be buried in the Libingan Ng Mga Bayani the remains of the late President Marcos. What have you done when you posted in your space about the late President? Very divisive among the Filipino people when you stated in here those allegations against him during his time as President. Lalo tuloy nagkawatak-watak ang sambayanang Pilipino dahil sa inyong one-sided comments against Pres. Marcos.

No. I beg to disagree with you on your proposition that if the President wears a dress showing our nation's colors will reflect the true sentiment of every Filipino which will in return the Filipinos will do the same. Wearing the Barong Tagalog is enough to show how every Filipino is proud to be a Filipino being the Pambansang Kasuotan. I personally believe that since you mentioned in here that it is also a way of calling each one to be united by wearing the nation's colors such proposition has also nothing to do for us to be united.

[Mod1-Mike] Johnny, the letter is not only to be read literally but also figuratively, as it suggests that : "Our Nation's colors are flying defiantly against the prejudices that fragment our beloved country" Although this is addressed to the president, it is also a call for unity for every reader to reflect on. Wearing the country's colors doesn't mean that the President or each one of us should wear it physically but each Filipino should wear our Nation's colors proudly through action and not through empty rhetorics of Filipino pride. The President as the mandated Chief Executive of the country should be the exemplar of this.

There is something irrelevant with your link. One thing more you are trying to suggest? or dictate the President as to what proper attire that he should wear to show that he is really a Filipino and to convince his countrymate in showing their love of our country.. I don't think that thing has nothing to do in showing how every Filipino would want to prove that he is a Filipino or love our country.
