Saturday, July 19, 2008 Scavenger Hunt- Ancient Rome Instructions: Your job today is to learn about Ancient Rome by completing this scavenger hunt. You will use the internet to find all different types of information about Rome. You may work with a partner, but everyone must turn in their own papers. Make sure to provide answers in complete sentences on your own paper. 1. Go to this webpage http://rome.mrdonn.org/romulusandremus.html Read the story of Romulus and Remus aloud to each other. Talk to your partner about the following questions and then answer them in complete sentences. a. Did the twins really exist? b. Why were the twins important to the people of Rome?

2. Rome is divided into three time periods by historians by what kind of government they had. Study the information at http://www.historyforkids.org/learn/romans/history/history.htm

Now, draw a timeline on your paper that has the names of the three time periods, what year each began, and what year they ended. Hint: Some dates will be exact, and some will be approximate. You may access other websites if you need more information with this.

3. The Romans were polytheistic, that is, they believed in many gods. Go to this webpage http://rome.mrdonn.org/index.html and find out about some of their gods. Write down three of their names and a brief description of what each does. 4. Here is a link to some fun activities. 5. Technology is things that we make or use to make our lives easier. Google is a great way to find information. Find out about Pax Romana by entering it into the Google search bar. Write a paragraph about it by answering these questions in complete sentences in your own words: · What was the Pax Romana? · What years was the Pax Romana? · What were two good things that happened during this time?
