Alex Rexrode (the evolved version of our VP, Andrew Rexrode) will discuss what projects the 120-year-old construction company has taken on in the past, and what it will take on in the future (internships and coops). ASCE Kickoff Meeting The meeting will take place in 1800 Engineering Hall at 7pm. Pizza, soda, speeches, it's everything good about kickoffs minus the football. Hear important info on the golf outing and the two Civil Eng clubs associated with the branch, Concrete Canoe and Steel Bridge! We are going to break more ice than the Titanic, drop more info than a textbook, and try to overthrow the sports chairs and sign the ASCE up for a soccer team. Guaranteed fun or your money back! ASCE Great Lakes Student Conference - Chicago, IL
4/14/2016-4/17/2016 UW-Madison ASCE had another successful Regionals this year! For the overall conference UW-Madison came in first place. The achievements that lead to this victory are as follows: Technical Report and Presentation- 2nd Place for Sarah Wichman Mystery Design-6th Place Surveying- 6th Place Environmental Design- 5th place Materials Design- 5th Place Concrete Canoe- 1st overall and swept all the paddling races Steel Bridge- 1st Place overall and swept all the categories Below are pictures of the winning Steel Bridge and Concrete Canoe teams. Congratulations you should be very proud of your accomplishments!
After all the competitions were done the awards banquet was held at the Shedd Aquarium which was a very nice end to a great weekend!
ASCE GeoTechnical and Structural Engineering Congress Phoenix, AZ
2/14/2016-2/17/2016 In February 2016, a group of ASCE UW-Madison students (James Zavoral, Grant Dziuda, Andrew Rexrode, and Zack Brady) attended the GeoTechnical and Structural Engineering Congress in Phoenix, AZ. Throughout the congress, the students attended a variety of technical sessions, heard presentations from industry leaders, and networked with professionals from across the country. Most notably, the ASCE UWMadison attendees participated in a roundtable discussion with SEI President David Odeh; learned about the intricacies involved with the construction of the world’s tallest building, the Kingdom Tower, from engineers at Thorton Tomasetti; and attended technical sessions that built upon their specific engineering studies. Aside from the Congress, the students enjoyed a break from the cold Wisconsin climate while exploring downtown Phoenix and the ASU campus. Tonight @6pm is the first meeting of the semester, and it’s going to set the bar high! It runs from 6pm-7pm, and is going to be filled with tons of important information regarding the coming semester, so definitely try to make it. Even if you're on the fence, this meeting is sure to be informational and fun for all types of people and majors, so come and check it out. 1st Annual Mini-Golf Outing
On Thursday, February 5 ASCE had its 1st ever Mini-Golf Outing at Vitense Golfland in Madison. Everyone had a chance to mini-golf 18 Madison themed holes. Along with a great turn out of students, professionals also had an opportunity to come. That interaction and networking was a major plus to our ASCE students. There was more then just mini-golfing, we also held a silent auction that had some great donations, like a signed football by some of the Badger Football Team. It was an all around success, and we cannot say enough to all the companies and people who came out to support the ASCE chapter.

18th Annual Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering Golf Outing This thursday, September 25 our chapter of ASCE participated in the 18th annual Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering Golf Outing at Pleasant View Golf Course in Middleton. Members of our chapter hosted one of the holes on the course, providing entertainment for golfers and networking with the industry professionals, department staff, and civil engineering students that came through. Multiple other ASCE members also participated in the golf outing itself. The event was a great success and provided significant funding for the UW CEE department. We couldn't have asked for better weather!

1 Week to the Great Lakes Conference Regional Competition
Our student chapter will be heading down to Urbana, IL next weekend to compete in our annual Regional Competition! The Univ of Illinois - Urbana Champaign is hosting this year and we will be competing against 15 colleges in events like Concrete Canoe, Steel Bridge, Environmental, Survey, Concrete Mix Design, and a Technical Paper contest. We have 55 students attending the conference so it should be a fun weekend. Go Badgers!

ASCE WI Section Spring Technical Conference 3 of our members attended the annual Spring Tech Conference tonight in Pewaukee, WI. There were 3 technical sections throughout the day followed by a speech from ASCE National President Elect Robert Stevens and a technical presentation on the Leo Frigo Bridge settlement in Green Bay, WI from WisDOT engineers. Thanks to the Southeast Branch for hosting a great event!

Group Alumni Donation in Memory of Robbie Sivak Robbie Sivak was a very active member of ASCE, Concrete Canoe, and Steel Bridge went to school at the UW. He was also the head judge at the Concrete Canoe competition in Platteville a couple years ago and the ASCE student liaison for several years. Sadly, Robbie passed away this October and in his memory, several past ASCE, Concrete Canoe, and Steel Bridge members wanted to make a donation in his name. They decided there was no better way to remember Robbie than make a contribution back to the organizations in which many of them met and knew Robbie.

General Meeting #1 - Spring 2014 Fred Klancnik, PE of Capstone Engineering gave a great presentation on one of his previous projects from when he served as president of JJR Smith Group. He walked us through his Milwaukee Lakefront design and planning project from 2011 at our meeting tonight. Members heard what it was like to work with architects and the community to design a project that everyone was happy with. Thanks for the pizza and presentation, Mr. Klancnik!
