The incoming freshmen and senior high school students were greeted with encouraging messages and plenary inputs as the faculty and staff led by the College President, Dr. Doracie B. Zoleta-Nantes represented by the College Vice Presidents, Dr. Ma Luz F. Cabatan, VP for Academic Affairs and Dr. Oscar C. Barawid, Jr., VP for Administration gathered at the ASCOT Covered Court to give them a warm welcome during the General Orientation Program which was held yesterday, June 13, 2016. It was the first student activity for SY 2016-2017 which aims to formally welcome the new members of the ASCOT community and to brief them with the ASCOT vision, mission, goals, and objectives as well as the core values and attributes of being an ASCOTIAN and to orient them with the academic standards and policies, student services, library services, students’ rights, medical services, and general campus rules. The members of the ASCOT Faculty and Staff were first introduced by Ms. Maria Lucia A. Ramos, Head of the Human Resources and Management Unit to familiarize the newest ASCOTIAN with the College officials, school personnel and with their respective Instructors. The orientation program formally started as the Academic Directors took their turns to introduce to the new members of the ASCOT community their

respective Department including their program offerings, academic policies, and activities. A student services orientation was also conducted in the afternoon to address the common concerns of freshmen students specially the senior high school students. The Coordinators of the various Student Services including Socio-cultural Affairs, Auxiliary Services, Accounting Department, Sports, Gender and Development, Health Services, Registrar Office, Library, Guidance Office, Scholarship Program and Student Discipline discussed the services and the programs of their respective offices. Furthermore, the Student Publication and Supreme College Student Council also presented their organization’s services and encourage the new students to join and actively participate in the different activities of the College. 0

ASCOT is K-12 Ready! Posted on June 1, 2016 by Cristelita Panlilio-Lombres
Pursuant to the provisions of RA No. 9155 (Governance of Basic Education Act of 2001) and RA No. 10533 (Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013), Aurora State College of Technology was granted Provisional Permit to operate the Senior High School Program effective SY 2016-2017. The Senior High School program comprises the additional two years to the existing 10 years of basic education, which aims to strengthen the basic education system in the Philippines. It is in accordance with the DepEd’s Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013 also known as Republic Act No.10533. Students will choose their career tracks in academic, technical-vocational-livelihood, sports, and arts and design. These tracks will help Filipino high school graduates prepare for higher education, for higher chances of employment and even better chances on entrepreneurship. ASCOT has been preparing for this transition since 2014 through the initiative attending series of necessary trainings relevant to the implementation and already started forming partnerships with companies to employ its graduates. ASCOT Participates in the Regional Roll-Out for Senior High School Teachers’ Training Program for State and Local Universities and Colleges Posted on May 31, 2016 by Cristelita Panlilio-Lombres
ASCOT Faculty members, Mr. Sherwin Glorioso, Dr. Rowel Olila, Ms. Malou Angara, Mr. Ryan Abesamis, Mr. Jomer Mangawang, Ms. Bianca Tallafer, Mr. Arjay Oblino, and Engr. Raymond Dela Rosa participated in the recently concluded Regional Roll-out for Senior High School Teachers’ Training Program for State and Local Universities and Colleges held last May 25-28, 2016 at the President Hotel, Lingayen, Pangasinan. The four-day training program covered the eight core subjects (English, Math, Science, PE, Arts and Humanities, Filipino, Media and Information Literacy, Social Science) for Grade 11 of the K to 12 program. It was designed to focus on enabling the teachers to model best practices of facilitation and learner-

centered delivery of instruction, where the teaching-learning process and assessment can be observed. The core of the plenary and parallel sessions was the discussion of the pedagogical and content knowledge on SHS Curriculum Framework, 21st Century Learning, Outcomes-Based Education, Learner-Centered Instruction, Differentiated Instruction, and Assessment in the SHS Curriculum, which is in time for the implementation of Grade 11 of the Senior High School program this June 2016. 0

Mapalad ang ating lalawigang Aurora, tayo ay nagkaron ng opportunidad sa katauhan ni Virgilio Almario. Ito ay sa pamamagitan ng Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino ng Aurora State College of Technology. Si Kgg. Virgilio Almario, mas kilala rin sa kanyang alyas panulat na “Rio Alma”, dalawa pang dalubhasang propesor na sina Dr. Edgar C. Samar, at Gng. Lourdes Zorilla Hinampas at iba pang kasamahan ay sumadya sa Aurora State College of Technology Mayo 13- 15, 2016 para magbahagi ng kaalaman sa malaking populasyon ng mga guro at experto ng lingwistikang Filipino sa Aurora. Ang pagsasanay ay tinawag na USWAG 2016 : Pambansang Seminar at Pagsasanay sa Ortograpiyang Pambsansa, KWF Manwal Sa masinop na Paguslat at Korespondensyia Opisyal

A group of new and young faculty researchers recently attended the Capability Building for New Researchers of State Universities and Colleges in Region III held in Central Luzon State University, Science City of Moñuz, Nueva Ecija last May 12-13, 2016. Joining the participants from the different State Colleges and Universities in Region III were For. Michelle Resueño, Ms. Amparo Roberta Espinosa, Ms. Malou Angara, Ms. Cristelita Lombres,Mr. Mark Joseph Rafael, Mr. Mark Lester Cunanan, and Mr. Mark Vincent Padilla, Research Coordinators from the different Departments of the College and Mr. John Ryan Abesamis, CIRPS Coordinator.Topics discussed include, Harmonized Regional Research and Development Agenda by Dr. Julius Caesar V. Sicat, Tools and Techniques in conducting Quantitative and Qualitative Research by Prof. Lyndon Morales and Dr. Janice Morales, Statistical Tools and Analysis by Dr. Arnold N. Velasco and Writing for Publication by Dr. Roberto C. Pagulayan.
ASCOT Participants on the Capability Building for New Researchers of State Universities and Colleges in Region III
The two-day multi-disciplinary seminar-workshop was steered by the Developmental Council of State Universities and Colleges in Region III-Center for Interinstitutional Research and Policy Studies (DC-SUC III/ CIRPS) to support new, young and aspiring researchers by equipping them with the basic
knowledge and skills necessary to come up with quality researches in their respective fields of specialization. Moreover, it also aims to sustain and strengthen the capability of SUC III in the area of research. 0
