Inggris,Skripsi | 0 Comment OLEH : IDA AYU INDAH DAMAYANTI NPM: 13.8.03.5.1.31.2.5.5241 PROGRAM STUDI BAHASA INGGRIS FAKULTAS KEGURUAN DAN ILMU PENDIDIKAN UNIVERSITAS MAHASARASWATI DENPASAR 2017 ABSTRAK Writing is important to be mastered; however, the English teachers in SMP PGRI 3 Denpasar gave writing test that only provided some topics which made the students faced difficulty in generating and developing their ideas and they were easy to browse on the internet or they could cheat their friends’ work. In the present research, the researcher used picture cued tasks which was intended to figure out the achievement of descriptive paragraph writing ability and it should follow the generic structures of descriptive text such as: identification, description, and conclusion. The present research used an ex-post facto research design. The samples of the present study were the eighth grade students of SMP PGRI 3 Denpasar. There were 45 students taken as the samples which had been chosen by using random sampling technique with lottery system. The obtained data were analysed by using norm reference measures of five standard values. The result showed that 64.44% of the samples were successful; meanwhile, 35.56% of the samples were unsuccessul in writing descriptive paragraph which was assessed by using picture-description test.
