Students will be exploring and learning about the following lines of inquiry: - Rights and responsibilities of children; - Challenges and risks that children face; - How children respond to challenges and risks; - Ways in which individuals, organizations and nations work to protect children from risks. In this unit, children will be learning about rights of the children; their responsibilities in school, at home and in their communities; about the difference between needs and wants. They will be learning about the children living in different parts of the world and the challenges that these children face. The following activities would be included to explore the unit: - Viewing “Anne” (a story about an orphan girl who faces challenges in her childhood and how she gets adopted by a kind hearted family) - Looking at pictures showing children in different situations. - Making a collage using such pictures. - Understanding the various rights of children like the right to live, right to education, right to safety etc. - Comparison using Venn diagram between rights at home, school and community. - Going on a field trip to an orphanage For the summative task, the students will work on an information campaign wherein they will go to different grade levels to create awareness about children’s rights. For our first unit of term one students will enhance their understanding on the following topics : Punctuation : Use of Capital letters, full—stop, comma, question mark and exclamation mark Nouns : Proper/common Noun , Countable & Uncountable Noun Collective Nouns ex. Pride of lions, gaggle of geese Gender : Masculine , Feminine and Neuter gender Weekly spelling contracts, Reading aloud and Reading comprehension activities would enrich their vocabulary. Students will continue adding new words to their personal dictionary. More emphasis will be given on developing their reading skills and vocabulary enrichment. We will begin our Monthly Spelling Bee after the Idul Fitri break. Students will be given a list of words for this quiz. Best Speller Award will also be given from time to time. Math stand alone—Numbers Read and write numbers up to 10 000 in numerals and in words Recognize place values of numbers within 10 000 Compare numbers within 10 000 Order numbers within 10 000 Round off numbers within 10 000 Recognize odd and even numbers Add and subtract numbers up to 4 digits

Indonesian Studies Di pelajaran bahasa Indonesia, murid akan belajar belajar mengenai hak dan kewajiban anak serta masalah dan tantangan yang dihadapi oleh anak pada umumnya di seluruh dunia. Untuk mengembangkan kemampuan menulis dalam UOI ini setiap minggu murid akan menulis jurnal/buku harian tentang kegiatan yang sudah mereka lakukan. Tanda baca yang akan dipelajari adalah titik, koma, tanda tanya dan tanda seru. Tugas akhir: membuat drama tentang hak dan kewajiban anak serta permasalahan yang sering dihadapi oleh anak. Bahan pembelajaran: Bahasa Indonesia untuk SD kelas 3, Grasindo Sari Kata Bahasa Indonesia untuk Sekolah Dasar Kelas 3.4.5.6

Indonesian Language (BIFL) In Bahasa Indonesia as a foreign language, students will learn about things around the class and school, to tell the time, days, date, and adjectives. They will read and discuss stories related to the current unit. They will interview people around the school to get information about child’s right and responsibilities. In this Unit of Inquiry, Visual Art students will meet the following criteria: Responding: Investigate the puposes of artwork from different times, places and range of cultures including their own. Sharpen their power of observation. Use their knowledge and experiences to make informed interpretations of artworks. Creating: Make connection between the ideas they are exploring in their artwork and those explored by other artist through time, places and cultures. Make predictions, experiments and anticipate possible outcomes Sharpen their power of observation From those responding and creating experiences, the learners will learn color as an elements of Art. The learners will also revisit their understanding of primary and secondary colors. They will be introduced to tertiary warm and cool colors. Their final studio work will be a painting on canvas in the style of the artist, Andy Warhol.

Ayat ini bukan hanya sekadar firman Tuhan tetapi juga janji Allah bagi kita, orang-orang yang dikasihi-Nya. Dengan mengingat ayat ini, para siswa diajarkan dan diingatkan tentang betapa besar kasih Allah kepada mereka, sehingga A ll ah s e n an t i as a m e m e li h a ra kehidupan mereka. Bentuk pemeliharaan Allah bisa ditunjukkan melalui keluarga, teman, guru-guru dan orang-orang di sekitar mereka yang mengasihi mereka. Namun bukan berarti adanya pencobaan, bencana, kesusahan menandakan bahwa Allah tidak lagi memelihara kita.

Pada unit ini siswa muslim akan belajar tentang perilaku terpuji (akhlak karimah) : menyayangi lingkungan dan menyayangi hewan. Pada materi menyayangi lingkungan, siswa akan bercerita terlebih dahulu tentang kegiatan yang mereka lakukan untuk menjaga lingkungan sekitarnya, kemudian di kelas mereka akan praktek memungut sampah jika ada yang berserakan di dalam maupun diluar kelas. Pada materi menyayangi hewan, siswa akan belajar bagaimana cara menjaga, memelihara, juga memberi makan hewan jika mereka memilikinya di rumah ataupun berada dilingkungan sekitarnya. Islam mengajarkan agar umatnya menyayangi lingkungan dan hewan. Tujuan akhir dari materi ini adalah agar siswa lebih peka dan bertanggung jawab terhadap lingkungan sekitar mereka berada, juga lebih penyayang terhadap binatang.

In this Unit, the PE lessons focus on Movement Composition activities such as Gymnastics and Movements to Music. Gymnastics in EL focuses on activity involving performance of exercises requiring physical strength, flexibility, agility, coordination and balance. Group work and partner interaction are encouraged so that students work cooperatively and support each other to create new responses to tasks that may often be beyond their individual physical limits and abilities. The gymnastics program seeks to provide students with an understanding and aesthetic appreciation of artistic and expressive movement. During the lesson, profile such as risk taker and caring, attitude such as confidence will be discussed. At the end of the unit, the students are expected to write a reflection on “how they respond to challenges and opportunities during the gymnastic activities”.

During 23th July to 17th September 2012, Grade 3 students will learn how to talk about family location and telephone number in Mandarin, as well as how to address family members and state family structures in Chinese. In this unit, oral practice is also part of our focus. We will guide our students to practice oral conversation about name, age, family members, phone numbers, and address etc . For CSL class, as part of UOI, we will also extend students' vocabulary in house works like trimming grass land, dumping rubbish, washing clothes, washing dishes and cleaning room, and also learn to apply the verb "帮"-help to construct a sentence to improve students written ability, and also deliver the knowledge for children's different rights and responsibilities.
