Plitt -Using Business for Social Change
“ Jane Plitt told us about her uncovering the story of Martha Matilda Harper, 9irst by hearing some stories and then chasing her curiosity for six years. Jane felt someone had to tell Martha’s story and then the realization came that it was she that would have to do it. As a visiting scholar at the University of Rochester, Jane was in the same town where Martha’s new business venture took place. Martha was a groundbreaking female entrepreneur and advocate for social justice in late 19th and early 20th century. Jane also authored a book for children “It’s never too early to learn about the beauty of franchising! Jane Plitt has tenderly translated the franchising business model into a language that children of all ages can understand. Martha’s Magical Hair deserves a spot on the bookshelf next to Goodnight Moon.” –Steven B. Feirman, Franchising Attorney, Nixon Peabody LLP, Washington, D.C. “In times of uncertainty, Jane Plitt’s magical book instills hope
in children who might feel forgotten or fearful. This book is a wonderful resource for parents to help their daughters embrace Susan B. Anthony’s inspiring words: “Failure is impossible.”

Booker Middle School Principal Dr. LaShawn Frost said, in speaking about the CUBE, students will be able to take career assessments to see their strengths and weaknesses, research colleges, attend guest speaker lectures and participate in after school programs.
