She's the fairest peach on all the beach, and when she walks down the street all the little birdies go "Tweet-tweet-tweet." And can she roll those eyes and give those sighs and kisses— burning kisses from the sands of Araby! Her love's as strong as applejack, and after her laughter come tears, among her souvenirs. She's adorable. She's a poor little Broadway rose, with singed wings and silken hose. She's a one-o'clock baby. She's nobody's sweetheart now. But can she do the black bottom, and how! WOOD COUNTY On Wednesday June 20, 1928 a Wood County Club was organized for the purpose of promoting social activities during the summer term. Mr. Ralph Lindsey was elected president and Miss Mildred Goughler, secretary-treasurer. An enjoyable social affair, sponsored by the club, was a tea given in the new Library building on July 18. It was especially attractive as Mr. Crowley and Miss LaVier of the Arts department explained the beautiful paintings that are hanging in the corridors of the building. The club has arranged to have a picnic on Tuesday before the close of the term, to which the entire student body of the college is invited.

LUCAS COUNTY The Lucas County Club was organized Thursday June 28, 1928. The officers chosen were Mr. Paul Woodring, president, and Mrs. Bernice W. Shaner, secretary-treasurer. The purpose of the club is to promote a feeling of good will and friendliness among the students from Lucas County and to sponsor social events for the group and for the entire student body. A dance was given by the club Friday evening July 6, in the Womens' Gymn. Bowls of roses were placed at intervals about the gym while the orchestra played behind a border of palms. The music was pleasing and as a whole it was a very delightful evening for those who withstood the temptation of the weekend visit home. A roast or dinner will be planned for the club members at a future date.

HANCOCK COUNTY The teachers and students of Hancock county met in the College Auditorium on Wednesday June 27 and organized their club. The following officers were elected: Raymond Bricker President Dorothy Wiseley Secretary Mr. Sampson Treasurer The Hancock County Club held a dance on Friday night, July 20. Quite a few students and faculty members were present and a good time was enjoyed by all.

AFTERNOON TEA One of the pleasant social affairs arlanged for the students at the State Normal College attending the summer terms was an afternoon tea given by the Wood County Club in the College Library, Wednesday from two to four. In the receiving line were Dr. and Mrs. H. B. Williams, Miss Ethyl Blum, and Mr. Ralph Lindsey, president of the club. During the first hour, Mrs. D. J. Crowley and Mrs. C. F. Martin poured and Miss Rhea McCain and Miss Grace Durrin during the second hour. The teatable was laid in the lower room and bright summer flowers were used to enhance its beauty. Informal art talks describing the pictures in the library, were given by Mr. D. J. Crowley, head of the Industrial Arts Department, and Miss LeVeir, of .he same department.

Williams Hall News A. tea given by the girls of Williams Hall on Wednesday, July 11, was very much enjoyed by those who attended. The girls of Williams Hall wish to express their appreciation for the beautiful Serenades given them by; different groups of the opposite sex. Won't you please come again? We thank you. On Wednesday night about 3:00 o'clock a. m. a great thud was heard by the matron of Williams Hall. The noise seemed to come from the room above her. Upon investigation she found a certain party rubbing her elbow and crying, "Why I must have fallen out of bed." Oh yes, we have some string beans again today. Tonight it will be redbeet tops with vinegar. A queer parade went past our dorm last evening. A man with hands tied behind him, was being led by an automobile. He looked as if he were being pushed also. We do not know whether he was attending a belling, a frat initation, a stag party, or paying a bet, but what ever it was he had our sympathy. Wonder what is was all about??? The night watchman seems to be watching the cars which drive up at Williams. Wonder when he goes off duty? Just another week for eight o'clock dates. Girls you had better hurry, the bell is ringing. Quarterback—Listen, I've got a little play up my sleeve. Halfback—That's nothing, I've got a big run in my stocking.

After this trip we were all ready for our chicken dinner, and then back on the cars to Buffalo. On this return trip "Will you write in my book?" echoed up and down the aisles. Oh, that the N:agara Power Co. had never decided to give out nice little stiff-backed books to visitors. We all had writer's cramp. The return trip to Cleveland was uneventful, but at Cleveland occured our first bereavement. Two of our party went sight-seeing, miscalculated the time, and missed the boat. By great scrambling around they caught up with us at Put-in-Bay and the family was reunited. Fortunately we had good weather for this last day of our trip, so everyone enjoyed the trip to Put-in-Bay, and this time we were able to enjoy our special dinner on the boat. The afternoon was spent in visiting the caves and going to the top of Perry's monument at Put-in Bay. We came back on the "Greyhound" packed like sardines, but nobody seemed to mind greatly, and finally we"were deposited "on our own door-steps," a tired but happy bunch. I'm sure I speak for the whole party in saying it was a most enjoyable trip. I think everyone had a great time; even the people who were sea-sick, got an experience for the same price. And we're ready to give full credit and a vote of thanks to Prof. Holt, who did everything possible to m»ke the trip go smoothly and pleasantly. Mary Mathel Dysart

DETROIT TRIP By Bertha Swallem

A trip to Detroit under the direction of Mr. Mosely took place on July 6. Students going on the trip, hurried from their classes Friday afternoon to the 3:15 special car, which Mr. Mosely had reserved for the trip. Sixty-three students left Bowling Green at 3:30 for Detroit. Crossed the Maumee one of the oldest rivers in Ohio, and the Miami and Erie canal, which is no longer used for freight. The party arrived in Detroit at 6:55 and went £o the Madison Hotel. That evening, they took a boat to Bell Isle and listened to the Symphony Orchestra. Everyone enjoyed the music there. The party returned to Detroit, then visited the Custom House. From there, to the Book Cadallic Hotel, one of the finest hotels in Detroit. The party viewed Central Park from the twenty-ninth floor of this hotel. Saturday morning, we took a bus to the Parke Davis Co. Guides took groups of ten each through the plant. Here we saw experimenting and manufacturing of all kinds of drugs. The Parke Davis Company is the largest plant of its kind in the world. After the vist there, we took a bus to Belle Isle to inspect the animals. After eating lunch in the Casino, we visited che beautiful flowers gardens and the Conservatory. The Aquarium was also very interesting. Returning to Detroit, we again took a bus to view the beautiful Art Museum and the Library. Saturday evening the party attended the State Theatre and listened to the Vitaphone. Later in the evening Mr. Moseiy took the party to visit the Michigan theatre and other places of interest. On Sunday morning the party enjoyed the breezes on the Detroit River on board the Tashmoo. This was a very delightful ride and many beautiful sights were seen. The party stopped off at (Continued on page 18) .

CHAPEL NOTES The students this summer were very fortunate in having- the opportunity to attend such excellent chapel services as were presented these last four or five weeks. That they appreciated and enjoyed them was evinced by the large attendance on every Tuesday morning. The summer sessions opened June 19 with the usual chapel service in which President Williams welcomed the students and gave us the tentative programs which had been worked out for the summer term. On June 26 Dr. E. E. Lewis from O. S. U. addressed the student body. His was the first of a series of very interesting lectures. His theme was "We Specialize in the Impossible." Dr. Leonard Barrett spoke on "The Spirit of Youth" on July 3rd. He spoke of the spirit of youth as being a spirit of venture, taking supreme courage. He also emphasized the fact that "no man can live alone; the only way to keep anything is to give it away." We heard from our first cousins across the Pacific, on July 10, and are glad to find them so well and prosperous. Captain Kilray Harris brought us word from Australia this morning and certainly created a friendly spirit around here toward the Australians and their "Friendly Ambassador." The chapel program reached its climax when Dr. Frederick Vining Fisher presented and interpreted his pictures of Ultimate America" on July 19. He sold the idea that the future of the United States lies on the other side of the Rockies and put new life into Horace

The Coffer Miller Players

LIBRARY PARTY

On Monday afternoon and evening, July 16th, we were again delightfully entertained by the Coffer-Miller Players. It will be remembered the same players were with us last summer and interpreted for us on the stage Goldsmith's "She Stoops to Conquer" and "Love in Swery." The entertainment given this summer did not disappoint us in the least in fact many have considered it even superior to that of last year. The players in the afternoon gave us, Molie's "She Stoops to Conquer," and in the evening Sheridan's "The Revals". The entire student body and faculty are wishing them to return another year and we hope to see some of Shakespear's presentations.

Miss Ethyl Blum librarian at the Normal College and her assistants spent i very happy evening in the home of Miss Lucy Veler, South Church street, Thursday. Their plan had been a picnic at Otsego Park on the Maumee, but because of the rain, they were entertained at Miss Veler's. At six o'clock a picnic supper was the feature and during the evening bridge, music and dancing were enjoyed. -o-

Miss Eloise, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Fromme, of Urbana and Mr. Henry C. Manning, of Cleveland, were united in marriage at Cleveland Monday morning at 10 o'clock. For the past two years, Mrs. Manning had been an instructor at the Bowling Green State Normal college.

The Tea at Williams Hall

Dean Dorm

The second tea of the season was held at Williams Hall, Wednesday, July 11, from 3 to 5. The reception room? and hall were tastefully decorated with baskets of red, pink and white rambler roses and cat-tails, yellow lilys and dahlias. Guests were welcomed at the door by Mrs. Dalton, Mrs. Bowen, Mrs. Baker, Miss Whiteman, Miss Henkel and Miss Click. Nearly two hundred were served by Mrs. Hill, Miss Musser and Miss Johnson. Dancing was enjoyed by all.

Miss Olive Walrabenstein was honored Thursday night when Mother Dean gave a party in honor of her graduation from the Normal College. It is an old custom at Dean Dorm to celebrate the graduation of its members by a party and the presentation of a gift to the graduate. An informal program by a number of the girls was greatly enjoyed. Contests and games were participated in which made the party the most enjoyable one held for a long time. During the social .iour dainty refreshments were served oy Mother Dear-
