For over 21 years the British Horse Foundation (registered charity number 1003290) has financially supported initiatives designed to improve the breeding of British sport horses and ponies and continues to do so. British Horse Foundation This awards celebration is the main fund raising event for the British Horse Foundation (BHF) which is a small charity whose aims are to encourage quality horse and pony breeding, as well as selective breeding of performance horses and ponies. In addition, BHF aims to support and advance education, research and welfare in the equine industry by offering a small number of undergraduate research bursaries and supporting selected projects. With additional funding from Mrs Pilkington’s Charitable Trust, and in collaboration with a number of UK equine welfare charities, BHF is putting together a programme aimed at educating young people about all aspects of breeding in order to reduce uninformed breeding, now and in the future. The benefits of this work will extend to many parts of the industry and the Trustees are sure this project will have widespread support.
