SIRI ADAB/AKHLAK [1] - ADAB MAKAN RASULULLAH S.A.W ‘Dan Engkau (Wahai Muhammad) sesungguhnya mempunyai akhlak yang tinggi’ (Surah Al-Qalam : 4) (Dipetik daripada Kitab Ihya’ Ulumiddin – Karya Hujjatul Islam Imam Muhammad bin Abu Hamid Al-Ghazali) Adab Makan Rasulullah SAW menyukai dlafaf – makanan yang banyak tangan memakannya Membaca doa yang bermaksud :- ‘Dengan nama Allah, Ya Allah Ya Tuhanku, jadikanlah hidangan ini nikmat yang disyukuri yang sampai nikmat syurga ke atas nya.’ Makan cara hamba – semasa duduk makan, baginda merapatkan antara kedua lututnya dan antara kedua tapak kakinya – tapak kaki kanan di atas tapak kaki kiri. Tidak memakan makanan yang sangat panas kerana tiada barakah diumpamakan memakan api. Tidak memakan dengan dua anak jari kerana demikian adalah cara makan syaitan. Menyukai kueh faludzaj – ramuan – minyak samin, madu lebah, tepung gandum. Menyukai roti syair, mentimun dan ruthab (kurma yang belum kering) di cecah dengan garam. Menyukai anggur dan semangka dimakan bersama roti dan gula atau ruthab. Memakan ruthab dengan tangan kanan dan biji di tangan kiri baginda diberi makan kepada kambing yang lalu lalang di tempat baginda makan. Memakan anggur dengan memegang tangkainya sehingga air anggur kelihatang pada janggutnya seperti benang mutiara. Menyukai susu dengan tamar (al-athyabin – dua yang terbaik) Menggemari daging – penghulu makanan di dunia dan di akhirat – khasiat menguatkan pendengaran. Menyukai roti bekuah dengan daging dan buah labu dan bersabda bahawa labu itu adalah pohon Nabi Allah Yunus a.s. Pernah menyarankan Aisyah ra memasak gulai dengan membanyakkan labu – akan menguatkan hati orang yang berduka Menyukai daging burung (tetapi tidak pula ikut menangkap burung berkenaan) Tidak menundukkan kepala semasa memakan daging burung tetapi mengangkatkan daging ke mulutnya dan menggigitnya. Menyukai roti dengan minyak samin. Menggemari daging kambing – bahagian lengan dan bahu Kurma madinah (al-ajwah – berasal dari syurga) – penawar racun dan sihir – adalah antara yang paling digemari di kalangan tamar. Sayur-sayuran yang digemari baginda pula ialah al-handaba, al-badzaruj dan al-hamqa’/ar-rajlah. Tidak menggemari bahagian daging spt. buah pinggang, zakar dan biji zakar, ghudad, darah, hempedu dll. Tidak menggemari bawang putih, bawang merah dan daun bawang prei (al-kurrats) Tidak pernah mencela makanan – kalau disukai, dimakan – kalau tidak disukai, ditinggalkan. Tidak menggemari dhab. Suka menghabiskan sisa makanan dengan anak jarinya – makanan yang penghabisan banyak barakahnya. Menjilat sisa makanan pada anak jari – yang tidak diketahui makanan mana yang paling berkat. Tidak menyapu dengan sapu tangan. Selesai makan – dibaca ‘Segala puji-pujian bagi Allah. Ya Allah Ya Tuhanku, bagiMu segala pujian. Engkau anugerahkan makanan, maka Engkau anugerahkan kekenyangan. Engkau anugerahkan kepuasan (kehilangan haus). Bagi Engkau segala pujian yang tidak dimungkiri keutamaannya, yang tidak ditinggalkan dan yang diperlukan kepadanya’ Membasuh tangan dan menyapu lebihan air ke muka. Minum dengan tiga kali teguk dan dibaca sebelum setiap teguk : Bismillah – dan selepas setiap teguk : Alhamdulliah. Minum senafas dan tidak bernafas dalam bekas minuman yang diminum melainkan semasa menghisap. Memberikan lebihan air kepada orang yang lebih mulia kedudukannya samada di kiri atau di kanan baginda dan bersabda kepada orang yang tidak mendapat air bahawa sunat mengutamakan (orang yang lebih mulia kedudukannya) Tidak menggemari air susu dan madu dibawa bersama kerana tidak melambangkan tawaddak. Pemalu dalam perihal makan – tidak meminta kepada keluarga baginda makanan/minum – tetapi kalau diberi, baginda makan atau minum. Kadangkala bangun sendiri untuk mendapatkan makanan/minuman Wallahu'alam Semoga Bermanfaat

Jadi inilah kisah Madrasahku - Alsagoff&Aljunied di Singapura SYED ABU BAKAR TAHA ALSAGOFF Pada 22 Januari 1956 telah dikebumikan di suatu tempat di Hadramaut seorang yang telah lama bermastautin di Singapura. Apa yang tidak diketahui ramai ialah jasad yang sedang diuruskan untuk ditanam itu telah menabur bakti yang besar jauh dari tanahairnya - di Asia Tenggara. Begitu halnya tidak yang banyak mengetahui ketika itu di Singapura terdapat satu pusat dakwah Islamiah, selain daripada pusat perdagangan yang sibuk. Dan tenaga penggerak di sebalik kegiatan dakwah itu tidak lain dari Syed Abu Bakar Taha Alsagof yang wafat itu. Dilahirkan dalam lingkungan sebuah keluarga yang terpelajar dan terkenal alim lebih kurang 90 tahun yang lalu di bandar Seiyun Hadramaut, Syed Abu Bakar Taha Alsagoff mula mendapat pendidikan asas di tempat kelahirannya. Kemudian beliau telah melanjutkan pengajiannya di kota Mekah dan berguru kepada ulama'-ulama' terkenal yang mengajar di Masjidil Haram buat beberapa lama. BERANGKAT KE SINGAPURA Setelah tamat pengajiannya di Mekah, beliau pulang ke negerinya Hadramaut. Seperti halnya dengan kebanyakkan orang-orang Arab Hadramaut yang suka merantau pada masa dahulu, Singapura adalah menjadi tempat yang dituju oleh Syed Abu Bakar. Di samping berniaga, beliau berdakwah. Beliau menyertai jawatankuasa pembinaan Madrasah Alsagoff.Tetapi bagi Syed Abu Bakar Taha Alsagoff, kecenderungan kepada dakwah Islamiah dan pendidikan mengatasi yang lain. Kerana itu setelah beberapa tahun di Singapura, beliau pulang semula ke negerinya pada tahun 1920. Disana dia mengasaskan sebuah madrasah yang dinamakan Madrasatun Nahdah Ilmiah dengan dia sendiri menjadi guru besarnya. Dari namanya dapatlah diketahui bahawa sekolah yang diasaskannya itu bercorak moden, mengikut kacamata zaman dua puluhan. Pada tahun 1927 beliau datang sekali lagi ke Singapura buat jangka masa yang amat panjang. Kedatangannya yang kemudian inilah yang menampakkan dengan jelas diri Syed Abu Bakar Alsagoff sebagai tokoh dakwah dan pendidik yang ulung.Pada ketika itu, Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah di Victoria Street baru sahaja selesai pembinaannya oleh hartawan terkenal Almarhum Syed AbdurRahman Junied Aljunied. Menurut pandangannya tidak ada orang yang lebih layak mengendalikan madrasah yang baru terbina melainkan Almarhum Syed Abu Bakar Alsagoff yang akhirnya menerima tugas tersebut dengan penuh rasa tanggungjawab. Selama lebih kurang 28 tahun (1927-1955) Almarhum Syed Abu Bakar Alsagof mencorakkan Madrasah Aljunied itu sehingga menjadi sebagai sebuah pusat pendidikan dan dakwah Islamiah yang terkenal di Singapura. Ada dua dasar utama yang digariskan oleh Syed Abu Bakar Alsagoff bagi Madrasah Aljunied. Yang pertama ialah menjadikan bahasa Arab sebagai bahasa pengajaran sekolah dari kelas bawah hingga ke atas. Yang kedua ialah mengajarkan pelajaran-pelajaran Islam mengikut kaedah pendidikan yang moden, walaupun pada masa beliau sendiri belajar di Masjidil-haram kaedahnya adalah cara halaqah. Tetapi keistimewaan Syed Abu Bakar sebagai seorang pendidik ialah dalam pelaksananya. Dia menggunakan dua kombinasi yang mustahak; ketegasan pada masa yang diperlukan dan simpati pada waktu-waktunya. Dengan demikian displin pelajar-pelajarnya dapat dikawal. Selain itu keikhlasannya kepada ilmu menjadikannya seorang yang dihormati. Untuk meramaikan bilangan pelajar yang datang ke Madrasah Aljunied, beliau mendirikan sebuah rumah tumpangan pelajar-pelajar dagang. Rumah tumpangan itu didirikan di Java Road yang cukup dengan kelengkapan-kelengkapan asas. Dengan demikian ramailah para pelajar dari luar negeri belajar di Madrasah Aljunied. Ini termasuklah mereka datang dari ceruk rantau ini dari Indonesia, Filipina, Brunei, Malaysia sand Singapura sendiri.Pelajar-pelajar luar negeri yang datang untuk belajar dibenarkan tinggal dengan percuma sepanjang masa mereka belajar di Madrasah Aljunied. Makan minum mereka ditanggung oleh para dermawan. Beberapa orang penguasa kedai telah didekati untuk mendapatkan makanan percuma bagi pelajar-pelajar yang sangat susah kehidupannya. USAHA MEMBUAHKAN HASIL YANG BAIK Usaha-usaha yang dimulakan oleh Syed Abu Bakar ini ternyata amat berjaya. Pelajar-pelajar yang tamat dari Madrasah Aljunied samada yang belajar sebelum atau sesudah perang dunia kedua telah pulang ke tanahair mereka masing-masing. Di tanahair mereka sekarang para pelajar itu mencurahkan bakti menyebarkan agama Islam. Diantara ratusan (mungkin ribuan) nama yang tersenarai sebagai bekas pelajar-pelajar Madrasah Aljunied itu terdapat nama beberapa orang yang terkenal dalam bidang dakwah di negeri masing-masing. Diantaranya: Di Filipina selatan - Yahya Rajai (guru agama); mengikut laporan yang diterima, sepanjang hayatnya beliau ini telah mendirikan sebanyak 106 buah madrasah meliputi seluruh kepulauan Sulu termasuk Palawan. Ismail Badahdah dan banyak lagi. Di Serawak - Haji Abdul Kadir Hasan (Mufti), Haji Murtadha (Yang dipertua Pejabat Agama) serta beberapa pegawai agama yang lain. Di brunei - Pehin Haji Muhammad Zain (Yang dipertua Pejabat Agama), Pehin Haji Abdul Hamid (Mufti) serta ramai lagi. Di semenanjung Malaysia - Haji Arshad Masjuri (Mufti wilayah persekutuan), Haji Hasan Azhari (Qari terkenal) dan lain-lain Di Singapura - Syed Isa Semait (Mufti), Haji Abu Bakar Hasyim (Presiden Mahkamah Syariah), Haji Daud Ali (Pensyarah terkenal), Ahmad Sonhadji Muhammad (pengarang kitab tafsir Alquran dan pensyarah), Syed Abdillah Aljufri (Pensyarah, Mudir dan Presiden PERGAS) dan ramai yang lain yang sedang memberikan khidmat mereka. Selepas perang pasifik pelajar-pelajar luar masih datang belajar di Madrasah Aljunied sehingga tahun-tahun enam puluhan bila berlaku perubahan-perubahan yang besar di Singapura. Selain dari Madrasah Aljunied, semasa hayatnya Almarhum Syed Abu Bakar sangat aktif dalam masyarakat dan juga penulisan.Sebagai kenangan kepada seorang tokoh dakwah yang besar dan jasawan yang ulung serta pendidik kepada ribuan murid-muridnya maka diturunkan di bawah ini sepotong syair klasik Arab yang berbunyi: Ahlul ilmi hayyun khalidun ba'da mautihi wa ausoluhu tahtat turabi ramimu Ahli ilmu kekal hidup selepas kematiannya. Jasanya yang baik dikenang sepanjang zaman. Mudah-mudahan ruh yang kukuh dari Almarhum itu ada bersama-sama ruh-ruh para solihin.

I couldn't help it but to cry.. neither from sadness nor from disappointment.. but crying out of shame towards my ungrateful soul.. crying out of awe towards this physically fragile but spiritually strong woman.. The fisherman & the businessman There was once a businessman who was sitting by the beach in a small Brazilian village.As he sat, he saw a Brazilian fisherman rowing a small boat towards the shore having caught quite few big fish.The businessman was impressed and asked the fisherman, “How long does it take you to catch so many fish?”The fisherman replied, “Oh, just a short while.”“Then why don’t you stay longer at sea and catch even more?” The businessman was astonished.“This is enough to feed my whole family,” the fisherman said.The businessman then asked, “So, what do you do for the rest of the day?”The fisherman replied, “Well, I usually wake up early in the morning, go out to sea and catch a few fish, then go back and play with my kids. In the afternoon, I take a nap with my wife, and evening comes, I join my buddies in the village for a drink — we play guitar, sing and dance throughout the night.” The businessman offered a suggestion to the fisherman.“I am a PhD in business management. I could help you to become a more successful person. From now on, you should spend more time at sea and try to catch as many fish as possible. When you have saved enough money, you could buy a bigger boat and catch even more fish. Soon you will be able to afford to buy more boats, set up your own company, your own production plant for canned food and distribution network. By then, you will have moved out of this village and to Sao Paulo, where you can set up HQ to manage your other branches.” The fisherman continues, “And after that?”The businessman laughs heartily, “After that, you can live like a king in your own house, and when the time is right, you can go public and float your shares in the Stock Exchange, and you will be rich.”The fisherman asks, “And after that?”The businessman says, “After that, you can finally retire, you can move to a house by the fishing village, wake up early in the morning, catch a few fish, then return home to play with kids, have a nice afternoon nap with your wife, and when evening comes, you can join your buddies for a drink, play the guitar, sing and dance throughout the night!”The fisherman was puzzled, “Isn’t that what I am doing now?”

BRIEF BIO ON THE SPEAKER Ustazah Halimah Alaydrus from Jakarta Indonesia. She had studied in various pesantren (traditional madrasah) in Indonesia before pursuing her studies in DaruzZahra Tarim Hadramaut Yemen, studying for 5 years from the renowned Habaib and Hubabah. She was from the first batch of earlier students in Daruz-Zahra. Known by her students as a faqih, she had hand-written and compiled the explanation (syarah) on Fiqh from the lectures of her Sheikh, Habib Umar BinHafidz. She also taught many subjects in Daruz-Zahra to students and the women of Tarim for 4 years. At present, she is very active in teaching & doing dakwah all over Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia & other countries. Her approach in dakwah is soft but articulate. Her speech is eloquent and moving. Alhamdulillah many had benefited from her talks and knowledge. Apart from being a teacher and a motivator, Ustazah Halimah is also an author of a bestselling book. Her book entitling 'Bidadari Bumi' is based of her encounters with celestial women (assolihaat) in Hadramaut and Mecca. Activist for anti-muslim movement became a Muslim The swiss politician who was active in building anti-Muslim sentiments throughout Switzerland is now a Muslim.. Streich attempted to understand the Qur'an and Islamic teachings in order to argue against Muslims on tenets of their faith. In the course of his efforts, he began to agree with and acknowledge the proclamations of the Qur'an.. Allahu yahdi man Yasha'.. Allah guide whoever He wills.. & it needs effort from our part to find that guidance.. [apply to anybody, even Muslims by birth ;)]
