CONDITIONS AND INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES CANDIDATES MUST: 1. report at the examination room at least 45 minutes before the scheduled time of commencement; 2. produce original pilot licence and Identification/Passport document; 3. sign the attendance register; 4. provide their own writing and ancillary equipment; 5. remain silent during the course of the examination; 6. stop writing at the instruction of the invigilator; 7. hand in examination script, scrap paper and related documents where applicable when so required; 8. check that their examination number and necessary information are correct on the computer; 9. comply with all examination instructions during the course of the examination. 10. Ancillaries allowed into the examination hall: 10.1. pencils; 10.2. eraser; 10.3. ruler, 10.4. computer (mechanical), i.e. protractor, dividers; 10.5. allowed electronic computer calculator.

CANDIDATES MAY NOT: 1. retain notes of whatever nature during the examination; 2. communicate with another candidate; 3. pass any object to another candidate; 4. look at the work of another candidate, 5. enter the examination room if more than 5 minutes late; 6. leave the examination room within the first hour of the examination; 7. leave the examination room without the invigilator's permission; 8. make any notes or marks on the manuals; 9. direct any question regarding the questionnaire to the invigilator; 10. *use or retain in their possession while in the examination room, a programmable computer/ calculator; 11. take any electronic device of any nature, other than authorized computers/calculators, into the examination room; 12. smoke or behave in an unsatisfactory manner; 13. tamper with or damage any equipment; or 14. disobey the instructions of the invigilator.

NOTE: Calculators are allowed in the examinations, subject to the following conditions (i) Calculators shall be non-programmable, non-alphanumeric and preferably of a scientific type; (ii) No Navmaster calculators are allowed; (iii) If a candidate wishes to use an electronic calculator and is unsure whether it complies with the requirements of paragraph (5)(d)(i) above, written approval for the use of such calculator must be requested from the CAA Examination Section at least 30 days before the examination date. (iv) An invigilator or enforcement officer may prohibit the use of a calculator in an examination if reasonable doubt exists as to its acceptability. NOTE The CAA has absolute confidence in the integrity of the computer examination programmer and wishes to remind candidates that the only manner, in which an incorrect result can occur, is when a candidate’s selected answer is not accepted by the system due to the candidate’s incorrect operation of the computer mouse. If a candidate wishes to contest any result, the onus to prove an error rests on the candidate. WARNING: If the rules and instructions mentioned above are contravened, candidates subject themselves to disqualification from future examinations for a period not exceeding 36 months and the candidate may be deemed to have failed the examination to which such contravention is applicable. (See the RSA Civil Aviation Regulations, 2011 (SA-CAR). 1. I hereby request to enter for the examinations indicated and accept the above-mentioned conditions. 2.
