What’s In My Bag? Posted on November 2, 2012

Curious about what lies inside my bag? Sure you are! Nothing too crazy, but here ya go.

Bag: Michael Kors Mirror Cross-body bag in Rose Gold Wallet: Kate Landry. Yellow patent leather. Little pouch: Betsey Johnson. Yes, this is a bag inside my bag. It holds oil blotting sheets, business cards, Zyrtec, Tylenol, and coupons. Sunnies: Betsey Johnson. Fuschia with leopard print. iPod Nano: Old Nano circa 2007. I use this to teach my fitness classes. Sad, but I would be a total wreck (I’m talking sobbing, rolling around on the ground) without it. Little notebook: I write down meaningful quotes for my yoga classes in here. I also use it for writing down things at my nursing job. Sharpie and pen: Mostly for nursing. Elastic hair tie: Sparkly gold from this DIY post. Lip balm: Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Tiger Lily. Lip enhancer: by Jouer. I either use this or the Burt’s Bees. Both products on my awesome list. Bobby pins: Cool painted ones as seen in this DIY. Eyeliner: Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in Smog. A light, glisten-y brown with olive/gold undertones. I have the same color in UD liquid liner also. Beautiful color. Lip/cheek stain: Cha Cha Tint by Benefit. Everyday on my cheeks! It leaves a natural peach/coral tint with a lovely sheen. ** Not pictured but probably should be: car keys, phone, some food item (nuts or cereal in a bag, banana), gum, stethoscope, and dare I say…Tampax. DIY Glitter Peter Pan Bib Necklace Posted on October 21, 2012

Here is another statement necklace that is easy to create and customize yourself. I know, enough with the glitter already. I have a problem people! I can’t help myself, glitter (my BFF) makes everything better. Peter pan collars add an element of youth and sweetness to your outfit. Combined with sparkle, we’ve got it all – glam, fun, youthfulness, femininity, Neverland, Tinkerbells, etc. Let’s go! Funny side note: Joe saw this necklace laying on the bathroom counter and thought it was a bra for a baby. Continue reading Õ Posted in DIY, style | 8 Replies

OOTD: All About the Bubble Posted on October 20, 2012

Top & shorts: UO; Shoes: Dolce Vita; Necklace: Etsy

The weekend is here again! As you can tell, the weather is still pretty warm where I’m at. Have you noticed that the J. Crew bubble necklace has taken over the world? Well, my light pink bubble necklace isn’t quite J. Crew, but it certainly is every bit the statement piece (at 1/4 of the cost). Whenever I wear a big bold necklace like this one, I keep earrings, bracelets, and rings simple, or I skip them all together. Speaking of statement pieces, stay tuned for my next DIY. Oh, and get your glitter ready! It’s going to be a sparkly one. Posted in style | 8 Replies

OOTD: Sequined and Feathered Posted on October 14, 2012

Top & shorts: Express; Shoes: Blowfish; Necklace: Forever 21

Hi peeps! Oh how I’ve missed you! Just a quick post to remind you that I’m still alive. I practically had to force myself out of my pajamas and into this get-up on a rainy Sunday. I’m not really going any where special, just going out to run some weekend errands with Joe to get prepped for another week. I’ll wear anything with a giant heart on it, especially a sequined one. It is so bright, I figure it will distract attention away from my dark, puffy eyes and disheveled hair. Yes, I am having one of those days. Sigh. Stay tuned for a NOTD coming up next… Posted in style | 5 Replies

DIY: Glitter Tattoo Posted on September 30, 2012

Temporary heart and leopard print glitter tattoos. Yes please!

Pretty cute, no? The pictures really don’t do them justice – these little tatts REALLY sparkle! I’ve been wearing them all day, and now that it is night time, I can’t stop staring at them in the light. Yep, that’s me in the grocery store parking lot, turning up my spots toward the lamp post, tilting my arm back and forth to see them twinkle. I can see this being very popular for kids/tweens/teens (or grown-ups young at heart), especially with Halloween coming up! If glitter is your thing, you NEED to try this tutorial.

DIY: Sliced Agate Necklace Posted on September 16, 2012

I’ve been looking for an affordable sliced agate necklace for the past year now, but I’ve found that most of them are way too pricey ($50 – $100). I just think they are beautiful, with no two that are the same. Agate has long been associated with protective and healing energies, so wearing the stone may bring you good luck. I was wandering around Joann Crafts, and I happened to stumble upon a pack of two pre-drilled sliced agate pendants for $4!!! I snatched them up quick and made two beautiful necklaces. Here’s how: Continue reading Õ Posted in DIY, style | 13 Replies

DIY: Elastic Hair Ties Posted on August 11, 2012

Hey guys, it’s another hair DIY! I received an Alex & Isabelle hair tie in a Birchbox a few months back, and I loved it so much that I bought a few more in different colors. They are less damaging to the hair, not to mention cuter on the wrist. They are becoming increasingly popular, popping up with a glittered version at Anthropologie that sells for $12 for a pack of 5. This whole time I’ve been thinking how easy they must be to make, and I finally did some researching to figure out where I could find colorful elastic. OOTD: 2 Days, 2 Summer Dresses Posted on July 24, 2012

L: Dress from Hollister Co., shoes from UO. R: Dress from Eight-Sixty, shoes from UO

Our July weather has called for strapless summer dresses, up-dos, sandals, and a makeup-free face! It becomes downright uncomfortable if you are outside for more than five minutes, so you must dress accordingly. These little dresses will take you from the beach to out for dinner – my favorite kind of day. I skimped on accessories as well, just because the hotter it gets, the more I don’t want to be weighed down with anything unnecessary. Hope everyone is staying cool this summer, and I’ll see you soon! Posted in style | 3 Replies

NOTD (& OOTD): The Summertime Blues Posted on July 15, 2012

Nails: Blue Me Away by Sally Hansen; Bikini: Forever 21; Sunnies: Prada

Oh hello! I’m just having a Sunday-funday, soaking up some Vitamin D on the backyard dock. This bright smurf-blue nail color from Sally Hansen sure does liven things up. I love how it provides a happy color pop when paired with my leopard swimsuit. Blue is my favorite hot weather color because it reminds me of everything summer- blue skies, the ocean, the pool… I know many people are scared of wearing blue polish for some reason, but I think it is beautiful! Hope you are enjoying your day, and I’ll see you again soon. Posted in beauty, style | 6 Replies

DIY: Studded Denim Shorts Posted on July 4, 2012

Studs and spikes are everywhere these days! After I saw a picture of Rihanna wearing a spiked denim jacket, my distressed denim shorts became insanely jealous. You can purchase your studs online (try studsandspikes.com, Etsy, or Ebay). They come in many shapes and sizes and are relatively inexpensive for a small pack.

Now let me warn you – it is not as easy as it looks. My poor little thumbs! You’ll see what I mean, but if I can do it, you can do it! I tried to use a flat head screwdriver to bend the prongs down, but it was NOT easier. The second prong is more difficult to bend down than the first, and for most of them, I had to push down on the head of the stud against a hard surface to completely fold the prong down. Once you are all done though, you can wipe the sweat off your face, and be certain that you have the cutest, edgiest shorts at your neighborhood BBQ. Posted in DIY, style | 5 Replies

OOTD: The Tinkerbell Posted on June 25, 2012

Hello! This look is brought to you by Tinkerbell from Peter Pan. Emphasis here is on cute details. Cute little green dress with cute accessories. You can’t go wrong with bunnies, flowers, and a mustache (a mustache necklace, that is). OOTD: All About the Details Posted on May 14, 2012

The weather is heating up, and the legs are coming out! As these pics were taken, I was already griping about how sweaty I was just being outside for five minutes. This weekend outfit is all about the little details, combining lace, neon, and patterns. Oh, and I cut my hair off, and it feels so good! DIY: The Statement Pillow Posted on April 15, 2012

I had a few people asking me about the 20 X 20 “Go To The Gym” felt pillow on my bed in the sausage ponytail tutorial video, and I am proud to say that it was made by yours truly! I saw a similar pillow on Etsy that was $100, and I was determined to copy it. My broken sewing machine has been stuffed away in a closet somewhere for years, so I stitched the whole darn thing by hand. It was actually easier that I thought, only taking a couple hours. I ended up making the “let’s make out” pillow the next day with the leftover felt. To follow the same basic pillow tutorial that I used, click here. To make the letters, I cut them out of paper first, then I placed the paper letters wrong-sideup on the felt and traced around them with a sharpie. That way when you cut them out, the marker will be on the underside of the felt letter. I hand sewed the letters onto the pillow, but you could easily just glue them on with fabric adhesive. If you have an old throw pillow that you no longer use, you could just cover it, or take the filling out to stuff your new cool pillow. Have fun!

DIY: Starfish Headband Posted on March 18, 2012

It’s getting warm outside, and my summer clothes are finally waking up from hibernation! As I make my way to the beach, this darling starfish headband adorns my hair while all the mermaids look on in envy. To make your own, simply hot glue a starfish or two to a plain headband. You could also use seashells or sand dollars. It doesn’t even have to be a headband – you could affix the starfish to a hair pin or barrette. Enjoy!
