The Union of Concerned Scientists and Rice University faculty concerned about climate change invite investors, scientists, pension fund beneficiaries, the public, and members of the press to a panel discussion on climate change and risk. Texas, long the site of major oil and gas production and refining, is already experiencing significant, damaging effects of climate change. Two major US fossil fuel companies, Chevron and ExxonMobil, will hold their annual shareholder meetings in Texas on May 31. Shareholders have submitted resolutions calling on management to report on climaterelated risks, and to plan for reductions in carbon emissions to keep global temperature increases to below 2°C. Panel discussion topics will include the consequences of human-induced climate change for Texas frontline communities, climate related risks to energy investors and the responsibility of major fossil fuel companies to plan for a low-carbon future. Please RSVP at www.ucsusa.org/climatechangeandrisk. Live stream or watch the event later at https://livestream.com/ MVAGOLIVE/climatechangeandrisk.
