Part I So, this is a good story. My father-in-law bought a Compaq Presario about two months ago and has all ready had a major issue with it. Saturday evening, he shut down the pc and Saturday night he booted it up again. The 'System Restore' screen came up and he was unable to get past the screen. He was willing to restore the pc since it is fairly new and he just uses it for games. Anywhoo, he brought it over for me to look at. I tried a new hard drive, cables, etc, etc. Finally, I started a live chat with a customer service rep. It took a little over an hour but finally we were in agreement that the pc had a major hardware problem and needed to be returned/fixed/whatever. So, when I gave him the address, the system refused it. My in-laws live so far back in the woods that the USPS actually hires contract drivers to maintain the routes. Still no problem, right? I will just ship it to my address and I will take care of it. Nope. The customer support rep gives me a phone number and is gone. No wait for a reply. I was irritated to say the least. Part II So, I call the number he sends me via email and go through the entire process again. I ask 'Do you have access to the chat transcript?'. Of course, she says 'No.' So I say, 'Can I send you the transcript?' and she says 'No.' So, 90 minutes later she agrees that the pc obviously has a problem. And what does she tell me? Take it back to the vendor. I couldn't believe it. So, I ask my father-in-law 'Do you have the reciept?' and he says 'No.' I tell the csr that and she says no problem, take it back to them and they will give you your money back or replace the pc. I called the local Wal-Mart this morning and they said that a reciept would be required. I am shocked at this level of customer service. I don't understand the reasoning. At one point, she asked me to restore the pc and I did. When we rebooted it took 20 minutes to get into the bios. It doesn't take a genious to see that at that point it was obviously a hardware problem that the company would have to solve. I am sure that Compaq has some really good employees but why do I always get stuck with the turds? This is why I buy only from Dell. I know others have had uncomfortable experiences with Dell also but not me. Until I do, I will not send my business anywhere else. I am ordering my father-in-law a Dell today, have it shipped to him, and I will take care of dealing with Compaq. # re: Compaq Customer Service I have been having bad problems with my compaq presario.200.which is not 1 yaer old I dont think I was told by 2verizon.and by msn.that I had over 4.00 virus/bugs.and.that there was no way anyone could have that many in this time.I did not get this at a cheap price.I have hadsymantic protection.I do not open attachments.I was told that the person I spoke with yesterday was going to get rid of all the virus.msn and verizon informed me this had to have been bought with these virus.it came from you like this.I was told the man would put mccaffee on it.cost$104. why should I have to pay for something that was infected when bought?I have run spybot just the past 2 days.plus.when I purchased my computer I was supposed to have a $100 rebate.never recieved this.my case number.7329248694. # re: Compaq Customer Service My first PC was a Gateway, it was great, no proublems nad then I started burning a lot of music. so it was time to buy a second PC, so after checking out the sales I bought a new "COMPAQ PRESARIO" bought it from a "Office Depot" is silverthorn, Colorado. I bought it in the 3rd week of august, I was going to Florida the 2nd week of Sept. I took the new PC to Florida to help rebuild after the hurricaines of 2004/2005. I was there for just under 3 months and came back to Colorado Dec. 6th 2004. my 4 month old PC started having proublems starting up. It finially stopped working and I took it to "BEST BUY" and had their "GEEK SQUAD" work on it........they said that it had a faulty hard drive from the factory..........they couldn't retrive any info, files, music, and the worst "ALL OF MY PICTURES" I told them that the PC wasn't even 6 months old, they called back and told me that it wasn't covered under warranty. that it was over the first of January 2005...........they told me that the PC was over a year old. IT WASN'T COVERED..........THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS CHEEPER TO JUSTY BUY A NEW PC.... (ALL BECOUSE i DIDN'T HAVE THE RECEIPT) I told them that I regestured my pc when I got it home...........still no good COMPAQ wasn't going to honor a PC that was just used for 4 months........it was built in January of 2004 and bought sept of 2004, but the warranty was just good through jan, 2005..........So, like a good trained little mouse I bought a new COMPAQ....... Today I was out in my garage cleaning and I came accross my old: Presario SR1111NX Compaq Prod # PC130A S/N:MXM4280J3K Covered in dust and it just set me off. its time to stand up and be counted. then I tried to contact customer service and they want to charge you by the minute......... $2.99-$3.99 a minute................. well.... you can just suck my Compaq!!! I guess that I will just contact the local TV station that has a man called "Tom Martino". he goes out and help's the little guy like me who has been screwed over by BIG CORP'S and gives them all this negitive reporting over the evening news reports......... # Auto shut down problems hi, my compaq desktop is having a auto shut down problem.the power button of the system unit gets turned off automatically and the computer gets turned off, even of the power supply exists. even after pressing the power button many times it doesn't gets started,but leave it for a few minutes it gets started. the service personnel have formatted my computer 3 times saying it as a software problem, but the problem persists. please help.. # re: Compaq Customer Service compaq sucks. i have no problem with customer care, but i use many laptops from sony, toshiba, dell etc. of all the laptops i use compaq sucks. i will never buy one again. if asked why it is slow , it fails often, battery dies in 8 months, adapter dead after 13 months and i need to buy a new one for 110 dollars. and finally after 18 months my compaq laptop turned blue and i called compaq and they said they will try to fix it and they cant guarantee and to try they need 90dollars if it is fixed they will send it and if not i need to loose everything. this happened with me beleive it or not Left by sandeep on Oct 20, 2008 5:27 PM

# re: Compaq Customer Service My internet company says that my compaq presario 7600 55277-OEM-0011903-00106 desktop computer which has done me well since 2004 :) from walmart...But they say i need some drivers ..my modem is not working well. It connect to the internet sometimes at certin times of the day...For awhile it was at 3:45 everyday. While i know my walmart compaq computer is good...It isnt so good that it can tell time..So the Internet Compaby says i need to update some Drivers. However, the system recovery CDs I received were damaged and your system doesn't allow me to make a 2nd copy of the system recovery CDs. I read your on-line help and did successfully used ' Start/all programs/ Pc Help and Tools/ Compaq System Recovery' (which was installed into my PC) to recover the Window OS. However, I was failed to partition my hard disk space when I did it. Could u pls tell me how to do a hard disk space partition when I use the above mentioned Compaq tool to do one more system recover-- I spent much effort to search your website to find if and how can I do so but I was failed too. # re: Compaq Customer Service I got my computer two christmas's ago and the battery had drained 9 chargers within like 2 months, and the display screen is broken after 2 years. And the screw where the display and keyboard come together is VERY loose. It was nice while it lasted. Mean while my brother got the same thing and at the same time... it's perfectly fine.. but then again my brother POURED water on mine I mean like maybe like 6 o.z. of it but still. and my brother downloaded alot more stuff and uses it more often than I door. it's a bummer cause I need a new one and its only been 2 years... ohh btw its an Compaq, Presario CQ50 Left by Bummed on Apr 28, 2010 6:01 PM

# re: Compaq Customer Service I am using Acer. They gave me all the drivers i need(without having to download on internet and confuse myself). I don't know much about dell and compaq. But had friends who use them. I too would go for Dell rather than compaq. i feel, Downloads for Dell drivers are much easily available than that of compaq windows drivers download. My friends had to go and search for drivers every time they face any problem on their laptop and format it. They use a site for downloading all windows drivers for xp, vista and windows 7.
