The Lenfest Foundation Awards 24 College Scholarships Students from 11 school districts in Adams, Chester, Franklin, Lancaster, Montgomery and York counties honored WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, PA – The Lenfest Foundation has awarded 24 high school juniors Lenfest College Scholarships. “A college education will open the door to a brighter future for each of these students,” said Bruce Melgary, executive director of the Lenfest Foundation. “They are a tremendous group of young people and I know they will go on to do even better things as they enter their professional careers.” The 24 students will receive up to $12,000 per year for four years of attendance at an approved and accredited U.S. college or university. The foundation also awarded one-time scholarships of $2,000 each to 23 other finalists in the program. Scholarships were awarded based on a student’s ambition to succeed at a challenging college or university, academic achievement and potential, commitment to service, leadership qualities, and financial need. The Lenfest College Scholarship Program is open to students in their junior year so The Lenfest Foundation can offer counseling on the college admissions and financial aid application processes.
Participating high schools include: Chambersburg Area, Fannett-Metal, GreencastleAntrim, James Buchanan and Waynesboro Area high schools in Franklin County, Biglerville, Bermudian Springs, New Oxford and Fairfield high schools in Adams County, Octorara Area High School in Chester County, Pequea Valley High School in Lancaster County, Upper Perkiomen High School in Montgomery County and South Western and Spring Grove high schools in York County.
