Mr Ajay Shankar joined the Indian Administrative Service, India’s premier career civil service in 1973. He taught Political Science at Allahabad University for two years before joining Government. Currently he is the Member Secretary of National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council. He has rich and varied experience in the Central and State Governments in industrial promotion, the energy sector and urban management and development. He retired as Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion in the Commerce and Industry Ministry, Government of India in December, 2009. He played a critical role in putting together the stimulus packages at the time of the global economic crisis 2008 as a member of Group of Secretaries constituted for this purpose. He took a number of policy decisions to improve the competitiveness of the Indian industrial sector. Under his stewardship, the plan for the Delhi-Mumbai industrial corridor project was developed for implementation. The Foreign Direct Investment policy was further liberalized and became more investor-friendly. Prior to that, he was Principal Adviser in the Planning Commission looking after the water, sanitation and environment and forest sectors as well as provision of rural infrastructure. Mr Shankar has served on the board of major public sector companies such as IDBI, EXIM Bank, NTPC, NHPC, PFC, REC. He has been Chairman of the Damodar Valley Corporation. He has been a member of Committees on reform of public sector undertakings, electricity distribution and resources for the power sector for the 10th Plan. He was closely associated with the design of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission. After retirement he was a Distinguished Fellow with TERI. He also served on the Board of Tata Global Beverages Ltd. His articles on economic policy issues have been appearing in the national papers. . He holds a Masters degree in Political Science from Allahabad University and a Masters in Economics from Georgetown University, Washington D.C.

Mr Amit Gossain is the Executive Vice President – Marketing, Business Development & Corporate Affairs of JCB India. Under his guidance, the brand JCB India has grown tremendously and has been twice awarded amongst India’s most impactful brands – a list that’s dominated by FMCGs and Consumer Goods. Mr Gossain joined JCB India in 2005 as a General Manager – Marketing. In over 23 years of work experience, he has worked with major capital and engineering companies in India for 7 years and then moved to Australia where he worked for 10 years in one of the leading Construction & Agriculture Equipment Manufacturer in the world, with his final assignment as the Head of Marketing and Product Management/Development group for Asia Pacific based out of Sydney, Australia. Mr Gossain is currently the President of Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (ICEMA). He is also the Chairman of the CII Committee on Solid Waste Management. Under Mr Gossain’s leadership, the committee also instituted the prestigious JCB CII Award of Clean Earth, an award for best projects on Solid Waste Management in the country. Last year there were over 90 entries for this award from across India. He was also the President of IIT Association of Australia. Mr Gossain is an Engineer with Masters in Management & Systems from IIT, Delhi. He has keen interest in playing soccer and badminton. Presently, he resides in Delhi with his wife and two daughters.

Mr Anand Sundaresan is currently the Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Schwing Stetter India. Under his Stewardship Schwing Stetter India has obtained various awards such as “Best European Venture in India” in the SME segment titled “Impressa Award” conferred by European Chamber of Commerce in the year 2004; Prestigious award for ‘Outstanding Contribution towards Indo-German Economic Relations” by Indo German Chamber of Commerce for two times; and the “Best Manufacturing Excellence Award for the year 2005” by Frost & Sullivan. Mr Sundaresan has an experience of over three decades in various Indian and MNC’s in senior positions. He began his career as a Trainee in the R&D wing of Larsen & Toubro’s heavy engineering group and thereafter joined the construction equipment division of the erstwhile Greaves Cotton & Company Ltd, where he rose to the option of Deputy General Manager, Marketing. He had a short stint as Sales Director in the multinational company M/s Hoesch Rothe Erde (Thyssen Group-Germany) before joining Schwing Stetter India Pvt Ltd. as Executive Director in June 1998. Mr Sundaresan has been the Managing Director of Schwing Stetter India since January 2002. He is a chartered Mechanical Engineer, coupled with a qualification in Electrical Engineering. He is also a certified CEO Coach from the Coching Foundation of India and a Certified Thomas EI, Analyst. Mr Atul Kumar Jain is currently the Head Mumbai Monorail Project, the first Monorail Project in India. He has wide experience in planning and execution of Railways and MRTS projects. Mr Jain has worked for Indian Railways for 27 years in various capacities. While working on deputation with IRCON he was posted in Algeria as Country Head and worked there for 2.5 years. He joined Larsen & Toubro’s Railway Business segment in January 2011. He is credited with introducing for the first time in this country the state of art technology for large scale crushing plants as well as other sophisticated modern plant and equipment being used in Highway construction industry. Then on he served meritoriously for 33 years as an Army officer. After retirement in 2010, he worked as the Director of an Institute of Management & Research in Pune for 2.5 years, thereby shaping the future of young managers. Thereafter he also worked as the CEO of MIT’s Educational Campus, Pune. He has been a true and brave soldier all his life. The Gallantry award of Sena Medal was awarded to him by the President of India, on 26th January 1999, for killing two militants in the strife infected Jammu and Kashmir. Besides being a true Soldier, he is a rare blend of academic achievements as well. From a plain BSc., he went on to acquire, LLB, MDPM &IR, MSc. from Pune University where he stood second, not satisfied he went on to do his PhD in Human Rights at the age of 50. He has travelled far and wide and gained insight into varied cultures and traditions. A multifaceted personality he strongly believes that there is no age bar to learn in life. Presently he is working as CEO- Kushal CREDAI Pune Metro.

He brings on board 30 years of industry hydraulic experience in different leadership positions. He also brings in experience from military vehicle applications as well as global co-operation experience with different nationalities and cultures. As the Global Engineering Head, he operates out of Skellefteå in Sweden where the Technology Centre for Europe is located. In his role, Mr Nilsson leads the global team of Product Development and Process Engineering across all locations He has spearheaded the development of some of the most advanced technologies in the hydraulic cylinder world and heightened the quality consciousness, technical edge in R&D, process engineering and manufacturing effectiveness to new heights. In addition to this role, he is also a director of Wipro Kawasaki Precision Machinery Pvt. Ltd. Mr Nilsson has a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Luleå University in Sweden. He and his family live in the town Skellefteå in north part of Sweden 800 km north of Stockholm.

Ms Meena Chaturvedi is the Chief Executive Officer-Strategic Business of Sahaj eVillage Limited (Sahaj) since October 2010. Ms Chaturvedi has a career of civil servant as a member of the Indian Audit and Accounts Service since the year 1987. She has held a number of key assignments at the Central and provincial government levels and within the establishment of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India during her 23 years of stint with the Government. Amongst the important positions occupied by her are Accountant General of the state of Uttarakhand, Executive Director, Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), Director (Budget), Ministry of Finance, Government of India, Professor (Economics) at the National Institute of Financial Management, Government of India and Director of Commercial Audit in the office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India. She has led auditing teams of a number of International Institutions like United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) in Mexico and United Nations International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women (UN-INSTRAW) at Santo Domingo and International Seabed Authority (ISBA), Jamaica. As Director, Budget, she represented the Government of India in OECD’s Senior Budget Officers. She was a member of the Working Group on Implementation of Performance Budgeting in India and was associated with several key fiscal reforms initiated by the Government. She has contributed richly to the emergence of public policy framework in the areas of budgeting, pensions and fiscal responsibility legislation and has contributed a number of research papers to the national and international journals on auditing, budgeting and financial management. Ms Chaturvedi is a graduate with Honours in Economics from the Lady Shri Ram College and holds master’s degree in Economics from the prestigious Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. She also graduated with distinction as Bachelor of Education from the Central Institute of Education, New Delhi. Her M. Prior to joining Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation in May, 2011, Mr Gupta was heading the prestigious New Line Rail Project in the State of Jammu and Kashmir as Chief Administrative Officer. This project is one of the most difficult projects in terms of logistics and terrain in the world and majority of the alignment passes through tunnels and very high and long bridges. Mr Gupta is a graduate in Civil Engineering from the erstwhile University of Roorkee (now IIT, Roorkee). He also holds Masters Diploma in Public Administration. He has been associated with various Expert Groups including that of UN sponsored Expert Group on improvement in ‘Project Management’ on Indian Railways and the UK sponsored project on ‘Strategies for Bridge Rehabilitation’ on Indian Railways. Mr. Gupta has done considerable work on ‘Mechanization of Track Maintenance’ on Indian Railways. During his early professional tenure with L&T, he was associated with First Asian Development bank aided Highway project in early nineties and played a key role in usage of materials like GSB and WMM for the first time in India. Later he was involved in setting up a world class industrial estate in an area of 100 Acres with all facilities in the Sultanate of Oman. On his return to India, Mr Pillai joined ACC cement and was instrumental in setting up and running the first commercial Ready Mixed Concrete plant in India. Mr. Reddy was involved with ready mixed concrete industry for over 15 years and played a key role in propagating quality concrete across length and breadth of country. For his outstanding work in promoting quality commercial Ready Mixed concrete in India, Mr. Reddy was awarded ‘Change Master’ award by Tasmac University and Business Gyan Magazine way back in the year 2006. He was also Chairman of ‘Indian Concrete Institute –Bangalore Centre’ during the year 2008-11 and was responsible for various path breaking activities including DEMINAR 2009 and 2010.Currently he is elected ‘Vice President (South) of Indian Concrete Institute’ for the period 2011-13. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Bangalore University and has also undertaken his two year managerial course in Concrete and Quarrying applications from Doncaster, UK Mr. Reddy has presented various technical papers on concrete in national and international seminars, the most notable ones being ‘ICCEX BERLIN 2006’ and ‘OWIC SINGAPORE-2010. Mr Samir Yajnik started his career ushering in the age of knowledge based engineering in Asia with his Singapore based company. At Tata Technologies which he joined in 1996, Mr. Yajnik has been responsible for starting and growing the engineering and enterprise services business worldwide with stints in Singapore, US and Europe. As President of Tata Technologies’ global services business he is responsible for scaling up the business – both in terms of new business acquisition and growing existing engagements. He works with top management of key clients for large engineering engagements and strategic IT interventions targeted at business transformation. As COO Asia-Pacific, he is responsible for operationalizing Tata Technologies’ global delivery model for engineering services outsourcing and product-centric IT in the region. As Director, Tata HAL Technologies which is a 50:50 JV between Tata Technologies and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Mr. Yajnik is responsible for spearheading Tata Technologies’ foray into aerospace engineering services. He holds a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay and did his post-graduation in the US. He then proceeded to do his management studies and after completion joined the Cold Rolling Mill project where he has contributed significantly in the early commissioning and record startup of the Cold Rolling Mill with special focus to the Galvanizing lines & the Finishing and Dispatch areas. He has implemented many innovative ideas in the area of Employee Development at SNTI. He is an Electronics & Communication Engineer from BIT, MESRA and has completed his General Management Program from XLRI, Jamshedpur.
