Post comment 67 Comments so far #Daniel on Feb 27, 2018 : Jakarta is expensive. Period. I earned 5500 USD per month as an expat. It's enough but not enough for European quality life. Especially about food. Yes, you can get cheaper products. But a question here is what do you get? Sausages are not even made from real meat. Andrien was right it's very tricky. If your standard of living is not very high that you don't care about healthy eating and lifestyle. Please do consider live in Jakarta. But if quality of life is your priority then this place is not for you. To live a normal life in Jakarta cost a lot. Good luck #Zali on Nov 28, 2017 : I am living in Jakarta. Believe me. You can live with only 800-1000 USD in Jakarta for a month, with a medium lifestyle #Andrien on Oct 16, 2017 : Living in Jakarta is quite tricky because the range and deviation is very high. You could live with 3.000.000 IDR while you can also spend >10.000.000IDR and still not enough. It's very tricky #Chris on Oct 05, 2017 : The rental seems to be on higher side but I guess these are expat prices. Most other things are quiet accurate, I have been living in Jakarta from past two years and staying a bit away from main city seems much smarter option, for transport Go-jek is the cheapest and fastest option even if you have a car. #Sunarman on Jul 03, 2017 : Hi All, if you are planning to move to Jakarta (or other cities in Indonesia), I'd happily answer your questions privately through email: miki(dot)sunarman(at)gmail(dot)com Cheers, #lee on Jun 17, 2017 : I think those who fill the information of apartment's prices are royal expats and the people who fill the info of average sallary are the average local! Haha I really believe that Local Purchasing Power Index in Jakarta is higher than 40, instead of below 37 :/ I checked once that per capita income (PPP) in Jakarta is 85% HIGHER than the one that's listed in this page. #suaidi on Jun 10, 2017 : If you get any information about criminal level in jakarta. most of those information is not true i guess.. im feeling secure as long as i live in here. most people in jakarta very individuals than other cities in indinesia . but if you want to say hi to them and require some assistant most of them are hospitable and ready to help you guys most of indonesian people is very friendly. They value their guest or every foreigners, it is their culture . Most of indonesian people have high social awareness. #suaidi on Jun 10, 2017 : I live in jakarta since feb 2017. Im indonesian and i would like to correct information above. Officially basic salary in jakarta is about 3.000.000IDR or 240USD but that amount is very basic. you can only buy foods in local restaurant 2times a day. and rent in non AC room If you have 5.000.000IDR or 390USD you can rent a room outside Jakarta (depok or bekasi is a near town from jakarta) with AC room and delicious food every day max 3times a day in local restaurant and sometimes in High class restaurant. If you want to live in center of city, 2.500.000IDR is enough to get a room with high class studio room.. then actually if you want to rent a studio aprtment .. in jakarta theres a lot of apartmen with various class. start from 2.500.000IDR is low-medium-class apartemen . Fyi average foods in jakarta start from 20.000IDR/Portion mcdonalds with rice, egg, chicken, and drink is a bout 35.000IDR if you need assistant for free let me know [email protected] #Rajshree on Jun 09, 2017 : Hi, Is Monthly USD 800 enough for an individual in Jakarta? #Anonymous on Jun 03, 2017 : i just want to know about real rental rate in indonesia not only jakarta. i do need these data #Anonymous on May 29, 2017 : Hi just wanted to know if 1000 USD is enough to live comfortably, south jakarta, Im looking into renting an apartment #Anonymous on May 23, 2017 : Hi guys, Just wanted to know if 4,300,00 IDR enough to live a reasonable lifestyle in Jakarta? my company is paying for accommodation and my transport expenses so that would be to spend on things like food, eating out and nights out. thanks in advance for any help #Anonymous on Apr 20, 2017 : as am a foreigner, can i find a job on site? #Anonymous on Feb 11, 2017 : Nothing decent (quality & location) available for less rhan USD 3000-4000 per month -> rent #ExInodo on Feb 03, 2017 : Average Monthly Disposable Salary (Net After Tax) 563.24 € ????????????? for me it was €200-300 (Rp. 2-3 million) #Anonymous on Jan 24, 2017 : Planning to visit Jakarta. But after reading the most terrible discrimination happening in Indonesia at this link http://www.counterpunch.org/2013/05/10/racism-and-sexual-violence-in-indonesia/ , it totally changed my decision not to visit Indonesia where seems some locals still practice animal behavior against a helpless, minor race which seems not being provided with legal protection manifested by the very uncaring attitude of the local police. One thing missing in the calculation by the stupid local is that the very minor race in Indonesia is the very brethren of over billion Chinese throughout the world so the local really need to use their brain this time or else messing around next time against the helpless minor race without considering their brethren worldwide might bring their very own downfall instead of free wealth and free women as usual. #Srini on Jan 16, 2017 : I want to know who much a single studio apartment will cost in the city center? will USD 2500/- will be good enough to live life in Jakarta ? can u pls share nay good website where I can search house for rent? #Chris on Nov 03, 2016 : I am living here for last 14 months and I can say most prices are quite accurate... #Paul Sabda on Nov 03, 2016 : I noticed that for bottled water in Restaurants the range is from 2500-5000 which I think is mistaken, people probably thought about the price in supermarket, whereas the question is the price of it in Restaurants. Although it is true for market (or 7-11), yet in Restaurants the price would be much higher. Probably from 10K-20K. #Ann on Sep 29, 2016 : Hi, My husband has benn asked to work in Cilegon for one year. We will be in a gated housing community. I am not sure if the homes have air conditioning. I would think that is rare in Cilegon? Can we buy air conditioning units and what would they cost? Will the risk of Dengue be worse than in Jakarta? Are there any large grocery chain stores in Cilegon? I am letting the fear tropical diseases and food poisen get the best of me. I am a cancer survivor so health conscience. Any info you can offer on Cilegon would be appreciated. Thank you #Lily on Sep 19, 2016 : Im going to live in the south of jakarta, for one year i need to rent a home studio there, i want to know the prices for year and for month too . I want the more cheap place #tika sari on Sep 16, 2016 : Hi Ankit, Normally company will pay for rental apartment, but for electricity, water, internet (optional). As you have 4 family member, if you kids wanna go to school you need to ask company to bear your kids school fee because in Jakarta International school is expensive. You can ask for transportation fee but usually company will provide you a car so no allowance for transport. Medical for your family member And another thing no need to worry because in Indonesia for food, transport is quite cheap compare another country. #Ankit on Sep 11, 2016 : Hello Everyone, The company I work with is planning to shift me to Jakarta from new delhi India.. I want to know is what kind of extra money should I ask for as I will have to rent out a house and all other necessary things. What is average monthly expense of a family of 4 people. It will be of great help #lim on Jul 29, 2016 : can any one tell me what is the price of land in kawasan ekonomi khusus marunda, jakarta in indonesia #Rathindra nath chattopadhyay on Jul 07, 2016 : Definition of living cost.It is very from person to person. We want crystal living cost budged for medium family. #varoon on Jun 03, 2016 : can any one tell me what is the price of tea in indonesia #Anonymous on Mar 28, 2016 : Hi,i have 1 bedroom apartment (40 m2) in Jakarta City Center near Senayan (prestigious area) for 900 usd per month nett all included(electricity, water, parking, cable tv,internet) please contact whatsapp +971528494568 (i currently living in uae) #Anonymous on Feb 16, 2016 : hello i m working as head of production in mumbai (india) looking same post in jakarta can any body help for the same thanxs #Remigius Septian on Jan 13, 2016 : Hi #Sanjay , For mid size car you can choose either Honda Mobilio, Nissan Grand Livina, Toyota Innova, Avanza, or Daihatsu Xenia. The price is about 45USD to 60USD per 12hrs. The price includes driver, fuel, toll, and parking around Jakarta, Tangerang, Depok, Bogor, and Bekasi. For more information please contact me, +628561239968 [email protected] Blackberry Messenger: 5199EE83 #Sanjay on Oct 08, 2015 : What is monthly car lease cost in Jakarta for Mid Size Car ? #Raynald Parlindungan on Aug 16, 2015 : Julia, USD 500 a month in Jakarta is FAR FROM ENOUGH. Do not take the internship unless the company cover for your apartment/homestay, monthly transportation, and communication. Specific for the apartment or homestay, make sure that you get amenities such as air conditioning, shower, sitting toilet, and other futnitures. Normally this type of living arrangement in Jakarta cost around IDR 4.5 mio per month. Also make sure that your housing facility is close to your office (less than 1 km). You need to avoid traffic and you do not want to ride a cab during rush hour. But if you only warn USD 5 mill a month than tou should stay in apt since you can cook your meala and save the money for weekend nightout. To save more money during weekend nightout you should find yourself some friends so you can share drinks :). Even better if your friends are DJs so you can get free pass and free drink. #Ray on Aug 16, 2015 : Nabil, with AUD 1600 I suggest you not to stay within the Jakarta city center. Anyway the reason people stay near the city center is to avoid bad traffic condition every rush hour. Since tou dont have to work than you should choose suburb area such as BSD or Bekasi if you plan to stay nearby Jakarta. I assume you want to live conviniently such as having a 2 bedroom house with nice neighbourhood, equiped with shower and sitting toilet. This type of housing normally requires 1 year rental fee to be paid upfront and can range between 30 - 40 million IDR per year. But you may need to buy some supporting household tools such as gas stove, air conditioning, TV, etc. the whole equipments may set you back around AUD 500. I also suggest you to get a yaed scooter (aud 300) to get around since the public transportation is not far from OK and not so informative. Best way to get your daily food is from the people market not from branded supermarket. If you can spend AUD 100 per month for a helper then she can help you donthe clean up or even train you Local language... Enjoy indonesia! #Zul on Aug 13, 2015 : @nabil...it can be, depends on your lifestyle. but like i said, it can be... #nabil on Jul 26, 2015 : Iam a pensioner from Australia is 1600aud australian dollar good enough to live monthly in Jakarta Iam asingle man please help me #Cristian Lamb on Jul 05, 2015 : Could someone inform how much is the monthly cost for electricity in BDD City? #ihsan nulhak on Jun 23, 2015 : hi every one, if you need anything about jakarta or wanna take arround jakarta, i,m happy to take you arround jakarta without commercial cost. i,m a bike driver ( motor cycle taxi/ojek) not profesional or commercial guide. please contct me or sms at my cell no 083812668291 thanks.... #Ferry on Jun 18, 2015 : I'm Ferry from Jakarta, Indonesia. I will help to answer some of your questions. Hi Sonia, USD 125/day it should be enough in Jakarta but you could only get a budget hotel. Hi Satya, about USD 1.500 / month you could get yourself an apartment (rent) but not in central district, and other monthly living cost. Hi Julia, with USD 500 / month should be enough for a person, because you already provided a place to stay. For info, you could buy a meal starting from USD 1.5 until USD 8 depend on the place (not restaurant class but include fast food). #Gin on May 21, 2015 : Dear Julia, Since right now the value of US dollar is rising in indonesia, US500 will give you comforable life. i think you should go to livinginindonesia.com.. its a forum for expat who live or will live in indonesia. #Julia on May 20, 2015 : Hey everyone, I need some help. I got an internship position in Jakarta, but I m not sure if i should accept it or not. I have no friend who have had lived there so please give me some advices. I would earn 500USD/month + accomodation + 1meal/day. Is it enough for leaving? Ofc I would love to travel around, but as I see from this money I wouldnt be able. What do you think? And also I don't know how safe is this place...etc. Thank you so much :) #Satya on May 18, 2015 : Hi All, I got an appointment in one IT company in Jakarta, could you please tell me how much salary is expected for to survive there. I am going with my wife. Please tell me in Indonesian currency. Thanks Satya #Sonia on May 11, 2015 : I am a Indian, and require to visit Jakarta for 1 week, and i will be provided 125 USD per day including hotel allowance. Is this amount good to stay in Jakarta ? #Silvia on Apr 21, 2015 : Don't worry about living in Jakarta. It is not as scary as they talk about here. Unless you are children, but no... you are adults. I am sure you will be OK. #ruslan on Apr 08, 2015 : Hi.. my name is ruslan.. I can help you guys to arrange budget to stay in jakarta, from rent apartment, house, rent car daily, weekly, monthly, I can arrange for you guys from small to big things, I can be your guide here Pls.dont hesitate to contact me for any information details 0812 1907 5697, email [email protected] Regards Ruslan ##lola on Feb 17, 2015 : Rent is biggest expense in jakarta, but if you can compromise with traffic or/and public transportation (both is nightmares) there is decent place outside of business district that cost much lower #Tony S on Feb 10, 2015 : #Orlando There is no problems with religion, many live here have different religions. Depending on your lifestyle it can be costly as rent can be high for nice apartments. Apartments around City Center like Kuningan Rasuna is $700-$1000 for one bedroom. But compared to HK is far cheaper here. #Orlando on Feb 08, 2015 : Hi. Thank you #chantlove on Oct 08, 2014 : Also, a mediocre meal for two at a chain restaurant in a mall is US$40-50. Most restaurants charge Rp. 15,000-20,000 for a coke/soft drinks and Rp. 3035,000 for juices/other drinks. #chantlove on Oct 08, 2014 : Thank you The Diplomatic Wife, you summed it up perfectly. I am currently researching cost of living in Jakarta as we are soon to relocate there, we were already living there for nearly a year in 2012. Even as an Indonesian (albeit living abroad for decades) I still find things are far from cheap. Apartment rent is US$2000-2500 for a 2 bed rooms and starting from US$3000 for a 3 bedrooms in a desirable location in South Jakarta area, e.g Kemang, SCBD, CBD, Kuningan, Setiabudi. The only place you could get a 3 bed room for Rp. 17,000,000 is in Ambassador/ITC Apartment, the catch is that you paid utilities at US$300/month! I know as I lived there. That was as per what we paid when we lived in Jakarta in 2012, it's not like we use electricity excessively, just a normal consumption as other people, the kitchen doesn't even have an oven. Grocery is US$150/week for a family of 3 adults and a child, I usually shopped at Carrefour. To publish the apartment and restaurant price as above is misleading and damaging for any prospect employee. #Eko on Oct 05, 2014 : Living in Indonesia area Varies depends on your preferences. especially in jakarta. the average calculated are somewhat close enough. althought some of it still in-accurate. but this could help. some people thinks a Room that cost 1 million is enough, but again. you get what you paid for is applicable here. many houses rent out their empty rooms for extra money. well ofcourse they dont provide you any other facilities. such as un-furnished where you will need to rent a furniture or buy them. but what happen after you plan to move out? that will be a hassle. when u buy new things here everything is easy. but then when u move out to new places, you will be faced will many problems so my suggestion if possible get a room with atleast the neccecities item included, like Mattreses, Aircon (if applicable), and water heater installed. TV and cable are optionals or bonuses for your entertainment. consider what type of person you are, and how you like to spend your money to rent. for instance. if you think rending a house consisting 3 bedroom is cheaper then you should also consider how much you will pay for the utilities bills. and also the cost for repairing things. bcause in indonesia, the renter are the one who must repair most of the things.. or renovations. unless you rent a room, then you just bring your lugage in. and you can ask for repairs to the owners if must. did you know also.. Jakarta is ONE of the expensive living cost in the world? in TOP 5 most expensive living cost in the world.. and will reach higher at some point. those thinking that living in jakarta is cheap is... murderuos.. because you might get stucked in jakarta, those traffic jams are costly. those polutions are costly, and those "cheap hawkers foods" are "costly for your health. but not costly for your pocket. for example of my daily life. my Salary is around 8-10 mil net per month.. unchanged since 2007 until now. no allowances or any other things. i have a house that i bought for Rp. 3.500.000.000,- (now the prices went up and market stands around Rp. 13.900.000.000,-) bought the house 2009 so after 4 years my net wealth raises by more than 500% in my neighbourhood, cost for a Studio or room rent is USD 1500 per month. furnished. EXclude utilities and charges. electricity around 50-250 per month, depending on your usage. gas around USD 10 per month. Water bill around 10-50USD per month. Internet + Cable TV cost around 30USD-150USD per month. (from 6MBPS up to 100MBPS) Buying TV around 200 USD for 24-29inch LED TV. or 300USD for 32 inch, and 400 USD for 40-45inch. if you happen to buy furniture, cost around 25-50 mil for fitting out your room. or studios. doing laundry is great since there are many franchises for laundry count by weight. every 1KG of your laundry cost around 1 USD only. i got a Car that i bought on 2009 , a 2nd hand Toyota Innova, cost me Rp.170.000.000,- still using it until now.. so far i'm using a Premium gas, and everytime i go for car oil change and etc, cost me around Rp.2.000.000,- per visit (sofar i visited them 1-2 times a year) Rp. 290.000,- can fill up the Gas tank from empty to full. and could be used for daily usage around 3-5days with around 10-20km perday. i bought groceries stocking up for a week. so i went groceries every weekend, cost me Rp.1000.000,- to Rp.2.000.000,- for stockpile my groceries for a week. (oh i live with my small family. 4 adults and 1 baby) to eat outside. if we go out for a simple Dinner with 4 person, cost around IDR 200.000,- if we go for a full course dinner could cost up to IDR 200.000 per PAX. hawkers food around IDR 10.000 to IDR 25.000,- per meal or snack. Drinks IDR 1500 for 500ml bottled water if u buy from supermarket, IDR 3000-5000 if buy from warung or minimarkets. Health things is around Rp.300.000,- to Rp. 1.000.000,- for GP and medications. if specialist doctor, can cost up to Rp.3.000.000,- per visit. if you happen to get surgery from Rp.3 mil until 10mil. and if you happen to hospitalized, start from 400.000 till 3 mil. per night. ROOM only. TAXI lowest charges if near (minimum charge is IDR 25.000,) average around 70-100 per trip bluebird, or lower prices with other brands taxi. 50-80 per trip. Parking is IDR 4000-5000 per hour. no maximum charge. so pay by hours parked. #ESL Cowboy on Sep 25, 2014 : I plan to start teaching at an ESL school in Kelapa Gading. Any thought on the cost of a one bedroom or studio apartment in that area? Thanks. #Anonymous on Sep 12, 2014 : hi , everyone !! i'm so long to living in Jakarta, Indonesia about 22 years until now. as someone told here , some of the comments here are true but some are not #NOTEIT . well there is so many house for rent or rooms for rent with a affordable price (Rp 1000000 to Rp 5000000 per month) in usd is around $100 to $500 . lots of yummy decent food ($2 - $5) and of course with a good quality and clean place to have seat , for anyone who wants to know more about Indonesian culture , the street foods in Jakarta are suit relatived prices for worker or bag packer (y) you can visit at Blok S around Pacific Place Mall , Menteng Park , Sudirman CBD or another great restaurants in Jakarta . i admitt it about the traffic in Jakarta is crazy noisy crowded as you know Indonesian has the biggest populations (after China i guess) , some of my friends said Jakarta's traffic just like Sydney's traffic . about dieases/fevers whatever its depend on the way you protect your healthy body (because NOT just in Indonesia's country that has the bad virus you know) at the end , its all your choice , its back to yourself . good night !! (more detail [email protected]) #Anonymous on Aug 28, 2014 : Cost of living in Jakarta has increased recently for example if you go out to a restaurant and have pizza medium sized that would cost around USD 10,and this morning I had two bowl of noodles and drinks and that cost me USD10, for Indonesian family with two children below ten years old, if they want to have a decent living , They would have to earn a monthly income Minimum USD2,000 that includes salary of a maid, meals, gasoline and groceries.so for expat I assume the cost of living is higher since you have to employ a driver If you prefer living in an apartment in suburb area that would cost you USD 400 for one bed room , however if you decide to live in Jakarta area the will cost you more, run from USD 800 to 2,000 a month and possibly more depends on your life style. Shopping Malls , movie theaters , super markets are scattered around the city and hundreds of them, so you won't have any problem getting your needs from foods, clothes etc.The worst problem in Jakarta is its traffic where traffic jam never ends for the whole day until about 10 PM, and usually it takes hours to get to your workplace, for a distance of 30 km will take at least 75 min to two hours(unpredictable), Mass transportation in Jakarta in average is lousy , however some buses with full air conditioned from suburb area such as BSD it's quite nice and that cost you around USD1.5 to get to downtown area, where taking taxi will cost You about USD20.Take Blue bird Taxi for your Safe ride and proper service. The nice thing living in Jakarta is products or services are available, even during weekend you can travel to nearby cities with different ambient like Bandung,Yogya or even Bali ,just to release your tension and get ready to hassle again in Jakarta. #Anonymous on Jul 22, 2014 : Hi, I am software engineer and have an offer to work in Jakarta. What is the best salary to live in a good condition with separate studio apartment. I would be paid in Sigapore dollars? Please help someone !! #len on Jul 19, 2014 : Im indonesian, n I think the prices mentioned above are quite dellusional.. I lived alone in jakarta for educational reason since my hometown is in central java.. price for renting studio apartment for me is 300 usd (not luxury apartment ofcourse but it's in the city centre) + 150 usd for electricity etc.. eating costs 5-10 usd for a basic clean one (not a street food), mid range resto costs 20usd/person.. clothes price is similar with developed country.. transportation is horrible.. I've been living in jakarta for 10 years (educational reason) n i cant stand living there for many years ahead.. so monthly expense for single would be around 1200 usd imo.. TIPS: u MUST live near ur work's place.. so u dont need to spend hours trapped in the traffic #Ryan on Jun 19, 2014 : Hi I would be moving to Jakarta in August .. I would be working In Bulkit Raya and need an accommodation nearby .. Iam a single guy and wld like a nice studio and I can shell out a 1000 USD per month.. Also how much on an average would need to survive comfortably.. Since no family n no kids.. Iam talking about a real good life .. #EK on Jun 09, 2014 : Hi I intend to buy a second hand car in Jakarta. Can I know what is the average instalment that I need to pay ? #Anonymous on May 16, 2014 : Hey frnds how r u all any body plz help me I want go there coz I am girl frnd in jakarta plz any body tell me how much Indonesia money want for one mont trip to there hotel stay and food #Arif on May 06, 2014 : I am an expat, and I do own a Studio Apartment of 22 Sq. Mt in Sunter (Sunter Park View Apartment) Jl. YS kodamar, Jakarta North on the way to Tanjung Priok Port. One of the cheapest shopping mall near this apartment is ITC Cempakamas. If you want to buy fresh fruits, meats etc for lesser price Pasar Sunter is nearby (20.000 by taxi). The apartment is at 7 minutes walk from the TransJakarta station, YS Kodamar. It is on PGC- Tanjung Priok bus route. Mall Artha Gading (MAG) is the next stop by busway from here. Mall of Indonesia (MOI) is around 1 km distance. There are many shops inside the apartment building. You can get in to Jakarta International Airport much faster from here. Since my current business activities are more based in PekanBaru, I am thinking of renting it. The title is owned in my company name, which is registered under PMA and I am authorised to sign the documents. Contact me on [email protected] #Morris on May 02, 2014 : #Giar , I am Morris , I can help you, we are actually doing a mass recruitment in Sydney, Australia. ... send me an email: [email protected] #Giar on May 01, 2014 : Hi there. I am indonesian woman. I looking for job in Australia as well as seeking an Australian man for marry. Can anyone help me about good company in AU who want accept Indonesian woman like me. Thanks for help #AudiQ on Apr 25, 2014 : #anjali depends on your budget, south Jakarta has the most nice and expensive apartment, JIS got recent problem with child sex abuse. #shankar yes you can survive and live like local :D #foreigner just go to good grocery like food hall, ranch market, carefour (they have fresh foods , etc) and go to normal restaurant that has price tag, then they will not overcharge you. :D and market in Indonesia is not comparable even to market in Bangkok, #AudiQ on Apr 25, 2014 : I am Indonesian, I do feel all the price in this site is a joke, To have a normal comfortable life you willl need at least $4000/month. You think Indonesian petrol is cheap? consider the traffic, I would have spent the same amount of money/month when I stayed in Frankfurt. School are also expensive especially good standard one, tuition fee about $300-500/mth ( I am not talking about those lousy government school) . interational school could be up to $2500/mth. Food, I normally go out to grocery like Food hall, Ranch Market, and at least has to spent around $100-150/week. Normal restaurant price about $5/50.000/meal/person. If you go to restaurant something like din tai fung/paul aner will cost you about US$20/200,000/person. for example I just went to a normal local seafood restaurant, 1 crab, 1 veggie, 1 cheap carp fish, spring roll, total cost Rp. 650000/US$60. Normal Aparment Rental in Jakarta could be around $1000-$2000 (24-70 sqm). Most things here in Indonesi is imported, due to lousy government :D Erdinger beer $10-$15, bintang beer $3 (restaurant price), $1.2(grocery price), budweiser ($5 grocery) Whenever I travel to KL/bangkok/Manila, it feels cheaper there for foods, accomodations, etc. jakarta living cost is actually comparable to Singapore cost except rental. But if you wanna live like in developed country (enjoying good quality breads, beers, etc) you must have at least $4000/mth, well if you wanna live like local, eat street food, ride motorbike, live in rent small house, well you can survive with only $600-$1000/mth :D The cheap and the best thing in Jakarta is their movie Cinema XXI :D go for premier only cost $5-$10 Public transport is a joke, you will not want to take those fugly bus in Jakarta :D More about Jakarta: Cost of Living | Crime | Climate | Food Prices | Gas Prices | Health Care | Pollution | Property Prices | Quality of Life | Taxi Fare | Traffic
