A guide to the science of secrecy

by fortenforge, Jun 22, 2009, 10:55 am So, now that you know what a Caesar Cipher is try decrypting these messages: 1. OVD JHU ZVTLVUL IL KPYA WVVY, HUK HUVAOLY IL MPSAOF YPJO? Key: 7 Rating: Really Easy 2. VS LBH XRRC GELVAT GB CEBIR ZHECUL'F YNJ, JVYY FBZRGUVAT TB JEBAT? Key: 13 Rating: Really Easy Now try decrypting these messages but without knowing the key. The best method is to try out each key from 1 - 25. 3. DEM JXQJ OEK ERLYEKIBO DEM XEM JE TUSHOFJ Q SQUIQH SYFXUH RO XQDT, KIU JXYI BYDA JE IFUUT JXYDWI KF: MMM.IUSHUJSETURHUQAUH.SEC/SQUIQH.XJCB. Rating: Easy 4. HSJ TY L NZFYECJ HTES QCPPOZX ZQ DAPPNS LCP ESPCP ASZYP MTWWD? Rating: Easy Challenges: These messages are not encrypted with just caesar cipher. To encrypt it I added a twist for each cipher. The primary cipher is a Caesar cipher but there is an added twist. One example is that I may have reversed the plaintext before encrypting it with a caesar cipher. Don't expect to get ANY of these. 5. H XAT CIVGPI XIJ STX HCIKTGNB JRW JHT IDPCNDC TVTGIGJ ST HI TXC.
