Teaching Parlamentsforschung, Spring 2013 & 2015 BA seminar, 2h/week, in German Role: Convenor Gegenstand des Kurses ist eine Einführung in wesentliche Bereiche der Parlamentsforschung. Schwerpunkte sind die Beziehungen zwischen Wählern, der parlamentarischen Arena und der Regierung sowie die Funktionsweise parlamentarischer Parteien und Ausschüsse. Den Kursteilnehmenden wird die Möglichkeit gegeben, spezielle Interessen durch die Bearbeitung von drei Wahlthemen zu vertiefen. Vor jeder Sitzung reichen die Teilnehmenden einen schriftlichen Kommentar (max. 2 Absätze) ein, der die Hauptschwäche oder -stärke der jeweiligen Pflichtlektüre sowie eine wesentliche Unklarheit erläutert. Development and current issues of European integration, Autumn 2014 MA seminar, 2h/week, in English Role: Co-convenor, with post-docs and PhD students of the European Politics Group at ETH Zurich This course first introduces the basic theories, institutions and decision-making processes of the EU, and then moves on to issues of particular relevance in current research and policy-making such as compliance with EU law, differentiated integration, interest group influence, the democratic deficit, or the Eurozone crisis. Participants have to give a presentation in one of the session and hand in an essay (ca. 4000 words) at the end of the course. Teaching evaluation: No evaluation conducted.

Europäische Integration, Autumn 2013 BA lecture, 2h/week, in German Role: Convenor, with a tutorial given by a doctoral student Gegenstand dieser Vorlesung ist eine Einführung in Kernbereiche der Europaforschung. Behandelt werden die institutionelle Entwicklung der EU, die wesentlichen Institutionen und Entscheidungsverfahren, die demokratische Qualität der EU sowie ausgewählte Bereiche der europäischen Innenpolitik und Aussenbeziehungen. Die Leistungen der Teilnehmenden werden auf der Grundlage einer Präsentation im Tutorat und einer schriftlichen Abschlussprüfung bewertet. Teaching evaluation (10 respondents): 3.3/5. 2

Differentiated Integration in the European Union, Spring 2011 & 2012 MA seminar, 2h/week, in English Role: Convenor (2011), co-convenor with a doctoral student (2012) This course focuses on the fact that the participation of different countries in European integration varies legally and in practice. How can we describe and explain the development of differentiated integration? What consequences does differentiation have for the EU and its member states? Based on these questions, the course covers theories of integration, politics and decision-making in EU institutions, and selected internal and external policies. Participants have to give a presentation and deliver a term paper (4-6000 words). Teaching evaluation 2012: No evaluation conducted. Teaching evaluation 2011: (3 respondents): 4.0/5. 3
