“I robbed them, and I killed them as cold as ice, and I would do it again, and I know I would kill another person because I've hated humans for a long time.”

I believe that the best theory to explain Aileen Wuornos’s deviant and criminal behavior is the labeling theory. The labeling theory is where labels are applied by people powerful enough to impose their standards on society. Aileen has had many people put a label on her because of her young criminal record. She is put under the category of secondary deviance. Secondary Deviance is the violation of social norm in which authorities label the individuals deviant and they accept the label. In this case Aileen has accepted her label that’s why I think she keeps committing crimes. Aileen also shows sign of reject labels that she has placed upon herself. First is denial of responsibility because she blames the victim for sexual assaulting her and she was the victim in all these situations. Also there is denial of victim because she believes that the men deserved it for what she claims they did to her. So, Aileen Wuornos perfectly falls under the label theory.
