Overview Elevators have become modern day necessities that provide fast and efficient transportation for passengers and goods. They are found everywhere—in multistory buildings, train stations, airports, hospitals, factories as well as apartment buildings and high rises. As people rely more heavily on elevators, reliability and safety issues have become of greater concern. Delta Electronics, a professional industrial automation solution provider with years of experience and skill in drive technology, introduces you to its energy-saving, reliable and efficient elevator solution that is suitable for all installation requirements. Delta provides two types of compact drive for elevator builders to select from according to their requirements. Both are suitable for machine-room-less applications. The Integrated Elevator Drive IED Series integrates drive and controller functions into one unit, which saves on installation space, as well as procurement and wiring time. The Elevator Drive ED Series is a slim type elevator drive that is equipped with a complete time sequence function specially designed for elevator control. It is easy to use with built-in elevator parameters and functions. Both drives are suitable for traditional geared induction motors and highly efficient permanent magnet motor applications and are designed with a high safety standard that supports Emergency Power Supply (EPS) functions. In addition, when working together with Delta's power regeneration devices Active Front End Unit AFE2000 Series or the Power Regenerative Unit REG2000 Series, the regenerative energy produced during braking is converted into reusable electricity and supplied back to the mains for other facilities to use and to achieve an ultimate energy savings of more than 30%. Delta provides you with an outstanding elevator solution that features cost savings, reliability, energy savings, and smaller installation space as well as high durability for a longer service life.

Series The IED series is an integrated drive that incorporates Delta's drive control technology with controller functions in one unit for ultimate application flexibility and convenience. One drive design saves procurement and research time for purchasing separate controllers and drives, and eliminates compatibility concerns. Benefits include a simplified tuning process that only requires parameter setting for elevator operation and drive functions, it is easy to maintain so users can quickly define and correct errors via troubleshooting signals, and it saves on installation space. For additional application convenience, the IED series supports various common encoder feedback cards and provides versatile elevator accessory options for all types of elevator application requirements.

Series The ED series is an advance and slimmer version of Delta's first generation elevator drive VFD-VL series. It inherits VL series features with more elevator functions and enhanced performance. Excellent features include various time sequence control functions that are designed especially for elevator applications, with the ability to control both synchronous and asynchronous motors without encoder feedback, and a modular design for fans and capacitors for easy replacement and maintenance. The slim structure design makes a perfect solution for all types of elevator, especially for the no machine room applications.

Built-in Door Control Functions < Door Width Auto-tuning Door width is automatically measured and saved as the door opens and closes. It will open and close twice to confirm the door width accuracy. Once confirmed, the measurement is recorded into the drive's parameters. < Smooth Door Curve The door reopens in a reverse direction when a door blockage is detected. Applications The AFE2000 Series features excellent harmonic suppression to control the existing harmonics of an inverter system to THD < 5% at all frequencies and provide high stability to the system. It is suitable for applications that contain electronic equipment with high sensitivity to harmonic distortion and the environment with high harmonic suppression standards, such as elevators in hospitals or research centers and high speed elevators that are faster than 2.5m per second.

Applications The REG2000 Series is a substitute for traditional brake resistors. It converts braking regenerative energy into reusable power and supplies it back to the mains for other facilities to use, such as for lighting or HVAC system. It provides substantial energy savings. In addition, there is no more braking resistor overheating problem and it keeps the elevator machine room cool. The REG2000 Series is suitable for elevator applications with speeds lower than 2.5m per second.
