Server Installation: Technical Notes

Server Installation: Technical Notes Make the wInsight Analytics Module Server a Trusted Site To avoid a variety of problems that can occur due to browser internet/intranet security, all wInsight Analytics module users, regardless of how they access the product, should add the wInsight Analytics module server (http://) to their list of trusted sites on the Security tab of the Internet Options dialog box in Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Miscellaneous Technical Notes The following are miscellaneous technical notes related to the installation of the wInsight Analytics module: 

If you do not specify a domain account or an existing local account as the QlikView service account, the installation creates a local user with the name you specified (DeltekAnalytics is the default). It adds that user to the local administrators group and to the “Log On as Service” policy.

If you do not specify a domain account or an existing local account as the as the cache warmer service account, the installation creates a local user with the name you specified (DeltekAnalyticsCW is the default). It adds that user to the local administrators group and to the “Log On as Service” policy.

The installation sets registry key - HKLM\SOFTWARE\QlikTech\QlikViewServer\Settings 7\DocumentDirectory = FOLDER_COMMON_APPDATA\Deltek\Analytics.

The installation changes the QVSTimeout setting in the C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\QvWebServer\config.xml file to 300 seconds (from the default of 60 seconds).

Standalone Installation Overview and Prerequisites

Standalone Installation Overview and Prerequisites The information in this section applies only to standalone installations. If you are doing an installation on a server, go to “Server Installation Overview and Prerequisites” on page 9.

Installing the wInsight Analytics module the first time on a standalone computer involves the following major steps: 

Install the wInsight Analytics module.

Run a script to add a column to the core wInsight Analytics database.

Launch and license QlikView Desktop.

Configure the database connection to wInsight Analytics.

Configure wInsight_Analytics_Config.qvw.

Configure wInsight_Analytics_Standalone.qvw and wInsight_Analytics_MultiProject.

Manually reload data for wInsight_Analytics_Standalone.qvw and wInsight_Analytics_MultiProject.qvw. Important: It is crucial that you read this entire document as there are a number of important steps that you must complete, including steps both before and after the actual installation. For most of the steps, you must be logged on with the user account that you link to the QlikView Desktop license.

Multiple wInsight Databases If your core wInsight Analytics data is divided among multiple databases, Deltek strongly recommends that you consolidate those databases into one to take full advantage of the capabilities of the wInsight Analytics module. Existing wInsight functionality is available to accomplish the consolidation. Contact Customer Care if you have questions about how to do that. A given instance of the wInsight Analytics module can only be connected to one core wInsight database. If you want to retain multiple databases and you want to use the wInsight Analytics module to do analysis of the data in them, you must set up one instance of the wInsight Analytics module for each core wInsight database.

Required Software To install and use wInsight Analytics, you must have the following software in place: ®

64-bit Microsoft Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 operating system

Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 or 4.5

Standalone Installation Procedures

Standalone Installation Procedures The installation procedures that follow are for installing the wInsight Analytics Module on a standalone computer. If you are currently using version 7.0 or 7.0.1 of the wInsight Analytics Module and are upgrading your existing production system:

You must first uninstall the wInsight Analytics Module before installing 8.0.

You must first uninstall the QlikView software using the procedure in “Installing on an Existing wInsight Analytics Module Server or Standalone Computer” on page 7 to prepare for the installation of QlikView 11.2 SR8.

Step 1: Install the wInsight Analytics module To install the wInsight Analytics module for the first time, complete the following steps: 1. Log on to the standalone computer with an administrator account. 2. Double-click DeltekwInsightAnalytics80.exe. 3. On the Welcome page, click Next. 4. On the License Agreement page, review the license agreement, select I accept the terms of the license agreement, and click Next. 5. On the Setup Type page, select Stand-Alone. 6. If you are doing a new installation, click Next on the Choose Destination Location page to accept the default location. If you are upgrading from an earlier version, skip this step. Deltek recommends that you accept the default location. However, you can click Change if you want to install to a different location. If you specify a location other than the default location, many of the folders and files are installed to the location you specify. However, the installer still installs some files to specific folders on the C drive because QlikView requires them to be in those locations.

7. On the Customer Experience Improvement Program page, if you want to participate in the program, leave Send installation data to Deltek selected. If you participate, the data listed on the page is sent to Deltek automatically during the installation process. 8. On the Start Copying Files page, click Next to start the installation process. The Setup Status page displays the status of the process. 9. When the InstallShield Wizard Complete page displays, click Finish. 10. Restart your computer before continuing with the remaining steps in the installation process. 11. Update permissions using the following steps: a. In Windows Explorer, go to the installation folder you specified during the software installation. (By default, that folder is C:\Program Files\Deltek\Analytics.) b. Display the Properties dialog box for that folder. c.

On the General tab, make sure that Read-only is not selected.

36

Standalone Installation Procedures

d. On the Security tab, click Advanced. e. On the Advanced Security Settings dialog box, click Change Permissions. f.

On the Permissions tab of the Advanced Security Settings dialog box, click Add.

g. This step only applies to Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2012 R2. On the Permission Entry for wInsight Analytics dialog box, click Select a Principal. h. On the Select User, Computer, Service Account, or Group dialog box, add all domain and local users who need access rights to update wInsight Analytics module configuration settings. Make sure the From this location field is for the domain or local machine, depending on which user(s) you are adding. Click Locations to change between domain or local machine name.

i.

For each user you add, select Full Control and then click OK.

j.

On the Advanced Security Settings dialog box, select the Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object check box, and click OK.

k.

Repeat steps b – i for the C:\ProgramData\Deltek folder.

Step 2: Run the Script to Add the AnalyticsLoad Column This section ONLY applies to 6.5.1 users who are upgrading to 8.0. The wInsight Analytics module requires the addition of a new column, AnalyticsLoad, to the Contracts table and its metadata reference to the ColumnN table in the core wInsight database. If you are upgrading all components of wInsight Analytics to 8.0, you can skip this step and continue with Step 3. You updated the database to include the new column after you completed the upgrade installation for the core components of wInsight Analytics. If you are upgrading only the wInsight Analytics module to 8.0 but keeping the rest of wInsight Analytics at version 6.5.1, you must add the new column by running a script against your core 6.5.1 wInsight database as described below. The script you use to add the column depends on your database: 

SQL Server — UpdateMSSQL651or70to80.sql

Oracle — UpdateOracle651or70to80.sql

Access — UpdateAccess651or70to80.qry

These scripts are included in the wInsight Analytics module 8.0 installation package and are copied to the server during the installation process. You may need your database administrator’s assistance in running the script. The script checks your core wInsight database for the AnalyticsLoad column in the Contracts table and its metadata reference in the ColumnN table. If the AnalyticsLoad column does not yet exist, this script creates it. If you do not run the update script before you continue with the installation, an error message will display when you try to use wInsight Analytics Configuration, and the data load process will not run.
