Co-principal Musalia Mudavadi addressed the press on Sunday evening, where he announced that the inauguration had been pushed to a later date following consultations. He also cited internal, national and international interventions as the reasons behind the postponement. The ceremony had been slated for December 12, at Tononoka Grounds in Mombasa County a day Kenyans would be celebrating Jamhuri Day to mark 54 years of independence.

National Super Alliance (Nasa) co-principal Musalia Mudavadi announced the surprise about-turn on Sunday at Okoa Kenya offices in Nairobi but said he would make public the reasons for the move on Monday.
