DRAFTING & DESIGN FUNDAMENTALS – One Trimester/.5 Credit (Grades 9-12) Visual, Performing and Applied Arts (VPAA) This is a beginning course in Drafting for students interested in the drafting occupations, engineering, or related occupations. This course is a part of the Drafting/CAD curriculum series. Success in three of the four offered sections is required to be a “completer” of the program. The course covers the basics of drafting in the following areas: equipment use, lettering, geometric constructions, orthographic projection, dimensioning, sectioning, pictorials, and threads. Computer Aided Drafting is introduced and used in this course. CAD - Computer Aided Design – One Trimester/.5 Credit (Grades 9-12) (PREREQUISITE: Drafting & Design Fundamentals) This course is a part of the Drafting/CAD curriculum series. Success in three of the four offered sections is required to be a “completer” of the program. Computer Aided Drafting (Auto Cad) is the main thrust of the course. This is a drafting course for students interested in the drafting occupations, engineering, or related occupations. The course covers advanced drafting in the following areas: orthographic projections, dimensioning, sectioning, detailing, threads, and computers. This course will expose students to the fields of Engineering & Architecture. If you like to draw and enjoy computers this class is for you. ADVANCED ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN – Two Trimesters/1 Credit (Grades 10-12) (PREREQUISITE: CAD - Computer Aided Design) This course is a part of the Drafting/CAD curriculum series. Success in three of the four offered sections is required to be a “completer” of the program. This is an advanced course in architecture for students interested in the architectural occupations, construction trades, and related occupations. The course covers a more dynamic and intensive study of Architectural Drafting, encompassing aspects of residential and commercial design. A review of first year topics, introduction to commercial building, materials, economics, environmental concerns, site planning, modeling, and computers are studied. Computer Aided Drafting is used in this course. (*Articulation Agreements are in place that award College Credit after series completion) ADVANCED CAD – Two Trimesters/1 Credit (Grades 10-12) (PREREQUISITE: CAD - Computer Aided Design) This course is a part of the Drafting/CAD curriculum series. Success in three of the four offered sections is required to be a “completer” of the program. Computer Aided Drafting (AutoCAD) is used extensively in this course. This is an advanced course in drafting for students interested in the drafting occupations, engineering, or related occupations. The course covers advanced drafting in the following areas: detailing, basic descriptive geometry, auxiliary views, developments, working drawings, tolerance, and assembly drawings. (*Articulation Agreements are in place that award College Credit after series completion) 3D DESIGN MODELING – One Trimesters/.5 Credit (Grades 11-12) (PREREQUISITE: Advanced Architectural Design and/or Advanced CAD and Teacher Approval) Design your own computer generated 3D house and walk through it or model your own race car. This is a 3D course in mechanical and architecture design. This course covers 3D modeling, rendering, material application, and animation. You will learn the modeling skills demanded in industry today and bring your designs to life. (*Articulation Agreements are in place that award College Credit after series completion)
