Gathering Waters District Fall Camporee October 3- 5, 2014

Gardner Dam Scout Camp

In search of…Eagles This Camporee will have team ‘challenges’ all day Saturday, and will include awards for scout skills as well as the coveted traveling frying pan. There will also be another frying pan awarded if an out of district troop wins the competition. The competition will be based off the theme, in search of…Eagles. There will be 18 stations, at each station the patrol with have the opportunity to earn points for the activity. The more points they earn, the more clues they receive to who the Eagle is. Before the patrol leaves the station, they will have to answer the question presented and try to determine who the famous Eagle is. The patrol who answers the most questions correctly will receive the frying pan. The purpose of this Camporee is to promote teamwork, improve basic Scout skills, and have fun. The Camporee will reinforce Scouting traditions by encouraging patrols to have a camp gadget at their campsites as well as keeping a clean and organized campsite. And use their patrol skills during the Saturday events. Troops are also requested to bring proper documentation demonstrating adherence to BSA policies regarding Health and medical Records as well as safety equipment (part of the ‘Top Troop’ scoring system). Medical forms A & B are required for both scouts and adults attending the camporee. There will be Patrol challenges so all Scouts must participate in the events with their Patrol only. There will be separate challenges for the adult Scouters as well. Scoring will be based on participation as well as how well the Patrol performs. Aquatics: The Patrols must have at least 2 in each patrol that has there 2014 BSA swimming tag for the Aquatics part of the Camporee Challenge. Cooking competition will also be a part of this Camporee. A ‘Scoutmaster’ Dutch oven cook-off for the Golden Spatula will take place Saturday evening. Since having them participate in Boy Scout events such as this strengthens recruitment of Webelos Scouts into Troops, Troops are encouraged to invite their ‘feeder’ pack Webelos Dens to attend. Webelos from packs that don’t ‘feed’ a specific troop are encouraged to attend as well. There is a ratio of one leader to every four WEBELOS that is required. Scouts are encouraged to not wear their field (“Class A”) uniforms during the ‘challenges’, but save them for the Saturday night campfire ceremony and Sunday morning church service.

Wear an activity uniform (“Class B”) consisting of a T-shirt and green trousers or shorts (with belt of course) for the competitions and challenges.

Are you prepared? Troops Patrols will be challenged throughout the weekend with activities in the following areas: 
