Objectives of the Course In this block it is aimed at to define the normal development of embrio; basic principles of reproduction; pregnancy and development of foetus; delivery and basic features of newborn; growth and development at infancy and childhood period; psychological features of adults; growing old and death topics as the phases of human biological development beginning from genetical basis of human organism. The processes at these development stages are going to be integrated at molecule, cell, organ and system levels from the developmental point of view, and going to be connected to very basic pthophysiological and clinical relations.

Explaining whole structural, functional and psychological changes related to the triggering of birth in a woman that completed the pregnancy period, decrease in size of uterus due to contractions and baby s delivery to external environment Discussing the adaptation of newborn to external environment, and the pschological and functional differences of newborns from adults Explaining the growth of a normal infant and transition of through childhood first then to adolescence, physical growth stages during these periods, evaluation of the growth, changes in hormones, and psychological changes and development of personality in childhood and adolescence periods Discussing the structural, functional and social basis of adult behaviors and psychological status, and detailing theese topics by emphasizing the mutual interaction of personal characteristics with environmental attributes Answering the questions on what a normal elderliness is, how aging happens, features of an healthy elderly, approaches to death and persons reactions to death Paying attention to gaining basic competencies related to communication, and explaining the basic features of communication by emphasizing the interpersonal aspects of it Observing the preventive health care services that should be provided at different stages of human life in order to improve community health, and discussion all these topics Observing the mother and infant care during pregnancy, birth attendance, care of newborn, infant and children and defining basic rules and principles related to these topics
