About Elaine W.

NEW

I went to Dr. Schlessinger's Lovely Skin Spa for a free consultation about Cool Sculpting for my tummy. It is a beautiful facility with polite, welltrained staff. However, I had to fill in 5 pages of health information before 2 young ladies came out, introduced themselves and shook my hand. By the time we got to the consultation room, I told them that super-uber fake friendliness is a turnoff for me, so they dialed it back and explained how we would proceed. When the interviewer read that I have neuropathy, she said that it MIGHT make me ineligible for Cool Sculpting, but the doctor would decide. Then she instructed me to disrobe and put on an ugly hospital gown and disposable panties. In a few minutes she came back and took 8 photos for a 360 degree record of my body. Finally Dr. Schlessinger came in, shook my hand in a perfunctory way, and asked about my neuropathy. He told me right away that it is counter indicative for Cool Sculpting. When I asked why, he warned that the procedure might cause my symptoms to spread to the area being sculpted. I thanked him for telling me so directly -- but I told the young ladies that they could have saved us all a lot of time by telling me immediately that neuropathy would rule out this procedure. In that ultra-polite manner that is taught to people who serve the public these days, the blond lady assured me that it had been a pleasure to meet me and they didn't mind spending this time with me. Well, I resent wasting at least 2 hours of my valuable time and the gas to drive to west Omaha, only to be told something that the scheduler could have told on the phone. Barring that, the woman who went over my medical history with me could have verified with Dr. Schlessinger BEFORE the full-body photo shoot, so that I didn't have to go through this embarrassing, unnecessary, and time-consuming session.

Stirnella Bar & Kitchen $ $ • Gastropubs, Cocktail Bars 3814 Farnam St Omaha, NE 68131

12/1/2017 I will probably NOT go back to Stirnella for several reasons, even though the salmon was delicious (but VERY salty): 1) the entrees were expensive and 2) the menu was so FAUX SOPHISTICATED that I didn't know what many of the ingredients were. 3) They were out of the fish I wanted, and 4) the place was so loud that I couldn't hear what the waitress was saying about another fish option. Consequently, the dish that I received was not what I thought I had ordered. 5) When my fish FINALLY arrived, the vegetables included corn, which I am allergic to & would not have ordered had I known it was part of the dish. 6) It took so long for our orders to come that the restaurant gave us some (delicious fried chicken) appetizers for free. 7) The bill for my entree was $9 more than expected -- but the manager did adjust the charge down to the cost of the fish I had originally ordered. 8) I'm writing this review at 2:50 a.m. because something I ate there triggered the worst neuropathy symptoms I've ever had, AND gave me a stomach ache, even though I ordered from the gluten-free menu and asked for the ground hot pepper on the side. My suggestion for the management is that you add some sound absorbing materials, and place group tables so that the waitress can walk all around the table instead of having shout at customers and reach across the table to deliver the dishes.

Think Whole Person Healthcare Medical Centers 7100 W Center Rd Omaha, NE 68106

12/7/2015 I turned 70 in September and have a few chronic, low-level ailments including occasional bouts with asthma, arthritic pain in one hip, worsening neuropathy with no apparent cause, and GERD symptoms from time to time. I exercise, generally eat fairly well and want to be proactive for optimal health, so I was excited about finding a "medical home" where various specialists work together for "Whole Person Healthcare." "Think" advertises listening as the first step in their approach to treatment. The doctor I saw had be recommended -- but she seemed cold, disinterested in my general health, and more concerned about getting through the standard questions on her computer than in finding out about my health and concerns. She did not even ask about my diet or emotional status. When I asked whether she would visit me if I had to be in a hospital, she said, "No, it would make no sense for me to run around town when I'm supposed to have a life." I had wanted her to check my toenails for possible fungus, but I never got to mention that because Dr. Mullin suddenly announced that we were running out of time. By the end of the appointment, I didn't even know what she was advising me to do, other than practice exercises previously recommended to me by my physical therapist. My pharmacy called, so I found out that the doctor had renewed one prescription. I left feeling totally frustrated and invalidated as a "whole person." I couldn't care less about the elegant and exorbitantly expensive facility, nor all the hostesses, navigators and scribes, who are probably just driving up cost. What I want is "functional medicine": real caring and effective treatment based on assessment of root causes -- not just more pills. I am now doubtful that this facility will provide that, but I might try Dr. Susan Scholer, who was recommended by my best friend.
