Sponsored by The International Centre for Newman Studies and UCD Seed Funding Brian Schroeder is Professor of Philosophy and Director of Religious Studies at the Rochester Institute of Technology. He is the CoDirector of the Society for Phenomenology and Existential Philosophy. Schroeder is the author of Altared Ground: Levinas, History and Violence(1996), Pensare ambientalista: Tra filosofia e ecologia [Environmental Thinking: Between Philosophy and Ecology] (2000), and Atonement of the Last God: Beyond Nothingness and the Absolute (forthcoming). He has edited numerous books, including most recently Japanese and Continental Philosophy: Conversations with the Kyoto School (2010) and Engaging Dōgen’s Zen: The Philosophy of Practice as Awakening(forthcoming). He is a Sōtō Zen priest and Director of the Idunno Zen Buddhist Community in Rochester, NY.
