English Department Undergraduate Courses – overview The English Department courses for undergraduates fall within certain broad categories: introductory courses; major author and period courses; genre and special topics; creative writing; film and media courses’ journalism, language, and communication; theater; and research. A general list of our courses follows below. Not all our courses are taught every academic year, and individual offerings vary markedly semester by semester in their range and emphasis.
