1. How do I get started? The UCLA School of Dentistry and its affiliated clinics offer a wide range of services to patients of all ages and oral health needs. To get started, all new patients must be screened to evaluate what services they need. A new patient screening appointment can be made by calling (310) 206-3904 for the Westwood location and (310) 392-4103 for the Venice location. Our staff will help set-up a screening appointment or direct you to the clinic that would be best suited to provide your dental care. You can also call our Faculty Group Dental Practice at (310) 794-5750. Please note, the fees for this location fees are comparable to the private sector. 2. Why do patients choose the UCLA Dental Clinics for their dental care needs? Our patients tell us that they choose our clinics for a number of reasons: We have the ability to meet all of their needs. We treat children and adults of all ages. Our fees can be as low as 50% the cost of usual and customary fees found in the private sector. UCLA dental students and residents are supervised by highly experienced faculty. We design a treatment plan that is customized to suit your needs and optimized to address your oral health in its entirety. We use the highest quality dental materials. We contract with U.S.-based professional laboratories and technicians to ensure quality control. Our faculty and students deliver state-of-the-art techniques. Please be assured that whatever level of provider you choose, you will receive the highest quality of dental care and we will treat your health information with the highest level of confidentiality. 3. What kinds of services are provided at the student clinic? Bleaching Bridges (Porcelain or Gold) Cleanings Crowns, Inlays, Onlays (Porcelain or Gold) Dentures (Partial or Full) Extractions Fillings (Tooth-colored or silver) Gum Surgery (Periodontics) Implants Root Canals (Endodontics) Veneers For a complete listing of our clinics, the services they offer, and contact information for appointments. 4. May I be treated by a faculty member? All of the treatments provided at our clinics are supervised by faculty members, but faculty members do not always provide direct patient care at those clinics. If you want to become a patient of the Faculty Group Dental Practice, please contact (310) 794-5750. 5. Is treatment free at UCLA? Dental treatment at the UCLA Dental Clinics in Westwood and Venice is not free, but costs are significantly reduced compared to the private sector. Faculty Group Dental Practice fees are similar to those of dentists in the community. UCLA is one of the preeminent teaching institutions and we value your participation in our dental education process. We could not train the next generation of dental care providers without you. Because of this, our fees at the General Clinic (pre-doctoral) and Resident Clinics are lower in comparison to private dentists. 6. How much does dental care cost? All fees will be explained to you in detail before your treatment begins. Fees for services provided by dental student providers are approximately half of the fees charged by local dentists in the private sector. 7. How can I pay for treatment? Payment is expected on the day treatment is provided or must be paid in advance if laboratory services are required prior to treatment. We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards. The General Clinic accepts Dental Dental PPO, MetLife, and GSHIP (for UCLA students). As the UCLA Dental Clinics are home to a number of different clinics, billing procedures may vary from clinic-to-clinic. Before finalizing your appointment/clinic selection, you should discuss accepted insurance plans and payment options with clinic staff. 8. Who do I contact about billing questions? At the UCLA Dental Clinics, each of our clinics operates independently from one another. If you have a question regarding billing, please call the clinic you visited directly. For a list of contact information for our clinics. 9. How can I request my dental records? Information on how to request dental records. 10. What can you tell me about the dental students? Pre-doctoral students studying at the UCLA School of Dentistry are selected from a pool of the best and brightest dental school candidates across the nation. Admission to our DDS program remains highly competitive, and the student body reflects our commitment to attracting a qualified and diverse group of students with a variety of educational backgrounds, life experiences, and professional goals. Our commitment to excellence in education and training is reflected in the skill and dedication our pre-doctoral students display towards their patients and clinical practice. 11.
