GOVERNOR LOVE PRESENT AT GROUNDBREAKING

ADMISSIONS

Governor John Love turned the "official" first spadeful of earth for the construction of the new library/laboratory building last Tuesday. A number of dignitaries were present at the ceremony including Dr. Joe Keen, vice president for the CU centers, and Fred Betz, Sr. of Lamar, a member of the CU Board of Regents.

The Admission Office reports an approximate enrollment figure of 2,250 was reached for fall registration. An accurate figure will be reported next week. Admissions also reminds all concerned that today is the last day for a 75% refund on tuition for complete withdrawal from the University, and that today is the last day fees will be reassessed for schedule changes.

Gov. Love, in a short address, said, "This library is a good sign for the overall state plan for higher education. There is little doubt that other centers such as Boulder and Fort Collins will become limited in their size aud this Center will make a wOGderful contribution to Colorado Springs, the state and the nation in our continuing effort to bring higher education to the people of Colorado. Completion of the new building is expected by the start of the fall, 1971, semester. BIOS CLUB PLANS MAROON BELLS FIELD TRIP .------------------------ ------------------------=---===--~~

The BIOS Club held its first meeting of the semester last Tuesday at which Dave DeArmond was elected vice president. Plans were also discussed for a three day weekend field trip to Maroon Bells. Further details of the trip will be discussed at a meeting today in Room 312 at 2:00 p.m. Anyone interested in joining the BIOS club or taking part in the field trip should contact one of the following persons: John Laxson, president; Dave DeArmond, vice president; Rowena Geiger, secretary; or Dr. Don Van Horn, Faculty Advisor. PSYCHOLOGY CLUB RECRUITS 120 NEW MEMBERS The fall membership drive of the Cragmor Psychology Club recruited 120 new members according to Randy Kouba, president of the Club. The Psychology Club was originally formed to pr.ovide libr2ry facilities for its members and its library currently subscribes to eleven professional pshchology journals and has 600 permanent psychology volumes for the use of members of the Club. The Psychology library is located on the hill behind the main building. Anyone interested in joining should contact OGe of the following officers - Randy Kouba, president; Rene Montoya, vice president; Greg Sparks, treasurer; or Sally Richards, secretary. DEADLINE FOR TEP APPLICATIONS IS CLOSE Spring deadline for TEP applications must be in the education office by October 1. "CIVILISATION" SERIES DUE AT ART CENTER

Mr. Archer Hayes, director of the University Choir at the Colorado Springs Center, announced that 30 students have signed up for the Choir and many others have indicated an interest in J01n1ng. The new Choir is sponsored by the Student Relations Office. It held its first rehearsal last Wednesday and this week elected officers for 1970-71. They are president, Joe Vegh; secretary, Sally Woodcock; librarian/treasurer, Noel Manzano; and pianists, Becky Burns and Chris Van Gundy.

A new film series entitled "Civilisation" is scheduled to be shovm at the Fine lrts Center beginning September 20 and 22 at 8:00 p.m. There will be seven programs, each consisting of two 50 minu te films.

The Choir is currently rehearsing "~Jassail Song," an English Christmas carol by Robert Vaughan Williams, "Ev'ryone Has His Day," by Joseph Haydn, and "Aquarius." Rehearsals are scheduled from 3:55 to 5:10 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Mr. Hayes is director of vocal music at Colorado Springs Mitchell High School and conducted the University Singers here for several years. The choir members voted unanimously to invite faculty membership. Anyone interesting in joining can call Choir president Joe Vegh at 596-1366. DENVER CENTER OF CU'S DR.
