Florida Citrus Show Two Great Days of Learning and Networking The 2018 Florida Citrus Show will be a welcome opportunity for growers to network and gain new knowledge as the industry works to bounce back from Hurricane Irma. Two days of educational programming will be packed full of information and leading researcher speakers from Florida and beyond. The Show will be held at the Havert L. Fenn Center in Ft. Pierce on Jan. 24-25, 2018. With regards to Hurricane Irma, Dr. Tim Gottwald, USDA-ARS, will be presenting how the storm might have spread citrus black spot and Jenny Hoover, USDA-Farm Service Agency, will provide a summary of hurricane recovery aid programs. Dr. Evan Johnson, UF/IFAS, will give a talk on rehabilitating citrus root health after water damage from flooding and the effects of HLB. Educational sessions also will focus on HLB and psyllid control. New citrus varieties and rootstocks from UF/IFAS and USDA will be featured during Show as well. Reports on the performance of bactericides will be presented, along with a talk on the status of bactericide registration with EPA. Leading lemon authority Dr. Glenn Wright, University of Arizona, will be giving a talk on the potential of lemons in Florida. The trade show floor will be full of exhibitors with products and services growers need to produce a successful crop. A number of the exhibitors will be holding drawings for prizes. And, a special reception will be held on the trade show floor on Wednesday (Jan. 24) at the end of the day’s activities, so stick around to enjoy food and drink with fellow growers and industry stakeholders.
