Greenwood School PTO Meeting Minutes Tuesday, September 9, 2014 Call to order: The meeting was called to order by President Karen Gare at 2:00 PM All members introduced themselves and were welcomed by the president.

Members present: Ruth Wade, Bob Zlockie, Karen Gare, Cheryl O’Dell, Kelly Fulkerson, Anita Jones, Yamilette Riedel, Christina Waddell, Mary Barfield, Katherine Steadman, Karen Butler, Vanessa Francis, Beth Helfrich, Julie Blair, Beverly Connell, and Juan Deya.

Minutes – Kelly Fulkerson: Previous minutes were not reviewed because they were already approved. The last minutes were from the May 6, 2014 meeting.

SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION REPORT Beverly Connell, Head of school • Thank you to all of our new members and returning members. • 193 outstanding students this year enrolled so far this year. • New Staff members: Mrs. Campbell, Mrs. Kleinke, Mrs. Fraser • Saturday, September 27th @ 9:30, cutting of ribbon for Greenwood’s new trail at the Jacksonville Zoo. Ribbon cutting is at 10:00. • Several high school students are taking honors courses this year (Literature and English classes).

Bob Zlockie, Associate Head of School • Security and safety a very serious subject. • Practicing all safety drills including lock down and tornado drills. • Initiated the new Black Board Connect – this alerts parents of an emergency via voice-text-email. • Participating with FCIS for latest security measures. • All clubs and sports are in full swing. • Thank you all for coming.

Julie Blair, Marketing Director • Visit our new updated website. • Added student testimonials and updating copy to keep key words for searches. • Also added a blog that is updated every Friday and student produced video gallery. • Like Greenwood on Facebook. • Open house on Wednesday, September 9th, 1-6p.m. • Friend raiser on October 17th • Grandparents Day on Tuesday, November 25th

TREASURER’S REPORT – prepared by Ruth Wade in Randy Bohman’s absence • Report attached.* Cheryl O’Dell made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report. Beverly Connell seconded the motion. All were in favor. The Treasurer’s report was accepted as presented.

OLD BUSINESS – Karen Gare • Bake sale was a success. • Brought up selling Greenwood water bottles at the athletic games. • Brought up selling Greenwood magnets as well (Mrs. Frields asked Karen about this). • Mr. Zlockie reminded everyone about the volunteer screening at Trinity.

NEW BUSINESS – Karen Gare • Open House, 9-10-14, 1:00-6:00-volunteers are not needed, PTO will have a table for guests to visit. • New/Returning Parents Welcome Breakfast, 9-18-14 Cheryl O’Dell made a motion for PTO to pay for breakfast. Yami Riedel seconded the motion. All were in favor. Request granted. • Requested students to be greeters at the breakfast; Mr. Zlockie suggested students from National Honor Society. • Discussed volunteers to collect entrance fee for athletic games. • Karen Butler suggested tying in with the PTO membership application the selling of Greenwood water bottles, magnets and stickers. • New parent also suggested we use SignUpGenius to get more volunteers. Need to review this for privacy issues so names are not revealed to others. • Ruth Wade gave the membership report and distributed a graph showing membership by class.

WISH LIST ITEMS • Request of $250.00 for Mrs. Frields Garden (mulch, plants, gloves, etc) Ruth Wade made a motion to accept request. Karen Gare seconded the motion. All were in favor. Request granted.

ADJOURN MEETING Karen Gare made motion to adjourn meeting. Ruth Wade seconded the motion. All were in favor. Meeting adjourned at 3:02 pm.
