THE WINKLER QUALITY The technical experience and high level of quality assurance are reflected in all Winkler products so that our customers can rely on tested and proven products for their applications. Our heating systems are characterized by an even distribution of heating power and a generously dimensioned heating conductor arrangement. This enables relatively direct and careful heat transfer to the fluid or object to be heated. We only use high-quality, tried and tested materials and components, and there is no compromise in this respect when it comes to the selection of and cooperation with our suppliers. Our customers are therefore offered excellent and trustworthy products with a long service life, even under heavy load conditions. Winkler products are 100% routine tested. There are two documented tests already during production, and during the third and final test the heating jackets, heating mats and heated hoses are again subjected to strict quality inspection. This triple testing procedure ensures a high degree of safety and reliability. And in the long run, these high quality and safety standards are beneficial. Our quality management system is certified to ISO 9001:2008. Winkler is a certified manufacturer in accordance with Directive 94/9/EC, Appendix VII (ATEX).

1.2 HEATING MATS AND HEATING JACKETS

Tmax = 900 °C

Applications Heating mats and heating jackets are used in a lot of fields, such as in industries, research and production, as well as in laboratories and technical centres. The following can be heated: Trestles, reactors, vacuum systems, valves, pipings, flanges, reservoirs, barrels, gas bottles, containers, etc. Heating mats and heating jackets are manufactured to project specifics. The workpieces

or models to be heated are required for the manufacturing. Heating jackets can thus be manufactured with an accurate fit. Almost all body shapes can be heated. A heating cable is used to supply heat. In case of low temperatures, the heating cable is sewn on to a carrier material. In case of high heating power and complex geometries, it is then crocheted into the glass or silicate thread.

Features and benefits · Complete system consisting of a heating system, sensor, thermal insulation, electrical connection and a lock with velcro, tension straps and lace-up hooks, manufactured as per the customer specifications. · Uniform heat supply prevents the risk of local overheating · Handmade products that are precisely and accurately adapted to the workpiece or the model · Excellent processing of high-value materials with a long service life · Optimum heat transfer · Form stability · Easy installation and removal

As a result of their special construction, the ATEX heating jackets can be configured variably for customer-specific applications up to 200 °C (T3). The fully electrostatically dissipative design means the operator of the ATEX system is always certain that no hazardous electrostatic charge can occur on the ATEX heating jacket and that charge is dissipated to ground potential immediately when the ATEX heating jacket is connected. The extended use for ambient temperatures from -40 °C to +60 °C indicates appropriately robust and special materials, which have successfully passed various additional tests and are therefore also suitable for outdoor use. 12

HEATED HOSES

Heated hoses are used whenever liquid, viscous, or melted media are to be transported from A to B without any loss of temperature. The heated hoses made by Winkler are characterized by the robustness, high quality, and resilience of the materials used. They are heated by a PTFE-insulated, moisture-proof

heating cable that ensures an even distribution of the heat. Our customers can choose from among a broad selection of nominal diameters, basic hoses, fittings, and electrical connection versions. We manufacture each single heated hose exactly to the customer’s specific requirements. Also suited for use in ATEX areas.

4.2 SILICONE HEATING MATS SERIES WOS Short description Our silicone heaters consist of heat conductor tracks – made of wire, stranded wire or etched foil – which are embedded between two strong, moisture- and temperature-resistant silicone layers with glass fabric reinforcement. The entire appliance is vulcanized to form a homogeneous entity. Areas of application and use In all sectors of industry as well as in research, wherever the operator needs fast handling and simple installation. The heaters are used for: · Temperature maintenance · Heating up Advantages · Systematic and even heat distribution · Flexibility · High mechanical strength thanks to glass fabric reinforcement · Short heating-up period · Moisture resistant · Easy, uncomplicated installation and mounting · Ready for connection

Tmax = 200 °C · Unrestricted choice of flat shapes · Any type of perforation, as required · Easy-to-clean surface Options · Integration of temperature sensors · Self-adhesive surface · Choice of connection systems · Reinforced insulation · Integration of protective conductor In the temperature range up to 200 °C, the structure of silicone heaters offers a number of mechanical, electrical and thermic advantages compared to heating mats comprising sewn-on heat conductors. The smooth silicone surface allows a good contact with the heated object, even on curved geometries, and is very easy to clean. The close heat conductor routing enables a high heat output as well as fast heating up and reaction times. Shape, performance profile and number of heating zones can be optimized for specific applications. Silicone heaters retain their flexibility, even with temperatures down to -40 °C.

Structure Winding technology Heating wire routed by hand  small batch sizes possible.

Etching technology Heat conductor tracks etched out of a metal layer;  only economical in large batch sizes

Contour and designs Flat or round vulcanized

Rectangular/round/irregular

With/without perforations

For small batch sizes, simple geometries can be produced manually, whereas tools will be necessary for complex geometries and larger batch sizes (additional tool costs, drawing required).

Surface Temperatures Surface temperatures The surface temperature must not exceed 180 °C or 200 °C, as applicable, during continuous operation. The required temperature is maintained by a suitable temperature control system, but it can also be limited by selecting an appropriate wattage. However, a number of other factors need to be taken into account too.

SILICONE HEATING MATS

33

4.3 SILICONE HEATING JACKETS SERIES WOS Silicone heating jackets are three-dimensional heating devices. They differ from silicone heating mats in that the heating element is adapted to the geometry of the component heated. In addition, silicone heating jackets are manufactured as a unit with thermal insulation and a mechanical outer skin. Functional elements like sensors, cables and

fixation options can also be integrated. Silicone heating jackets are always supplied as a ready-to-connect complete solution. To produce silicone heating jackets the right tools are required, which we manufacture on the basis of the customer drawing.
