Hen Party at Elephant Lodge I had organised my Daughters Hen party at the Elephant Lodges on the weekend of 12 September. As I had never visited Port Lympne before I was not sure what to expect, but when booking, the service I had received from Kristina was 1st class. There were 14 of us in our party and we reserved 2 of Elephant Lodge Tents. They were exactly as shown in the photos, extremely clean and well equipped and the bathroom facilities on the back of the tents exceeded my expectations. We had opted for a private evening Safari as we were on a Hen weekend and of course this is primerily a family site. We were picked up at 6pm for a 1 hour safari and then booked a meal on the viewing platform, The whole thing was magical and the 2 Rangers (Matt and Andrew) and our Chef were fantastic. During our stay without exception every single person we came into contact with that worked at Port Lympne were amazing. We had booked an afternoon tea which was served on the veranda of the Elephant Lodge Clubhouse and yet again the presentation and quality was brilliant. A huge thank you to everyone and I can't stop tellling people about the place and will definitely be returning next year. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS WEEKEND SO SPECIAL.

Stunning in every way Stayed in the Elephant Lodge and had an incredible view every morning I woke up. The tent itself is well proportioned and fit 5 guys in individual beds comfortably, only issue was the power source was a little temperamental.

The staff there are just brilliant, from the restaurant staff to the Safari park rangers everyone is really helpful and very attentive. The restaurant in the grounds is really good, with a variety of food on offer including a very quick take away service. With admission to the zoo and safari included you would be silly not to go to at least one of them. The Elephant lodge offers up a whole host of private tours that get you right up alongside some of the animals and is really worth doing. The main tours are also really well setup and very interesting. All in all, this was an amazing weekend. I would struggle to fill out a week but maybe if you went to other places locally it would break it up a bit.

Awesome! Fantastic! Loved it! I treated my husband as a surprise to a 4 day break to The Elephant Lodge for his 40th birthday.

We took our 3 year old and our friends visited us for two nights of our stay with their 3 year old. The lodge accommodated us all nicely. I think if we'd booked for 8 it would have been too much. It was nice having the room.

We actually visited third week of September and were lucky with the weather. Great sunsets and great evenings on our own little drives around the park when it was closed. A lovely experience. Take some warm pj's though as it can get cold at night even when the log burner has been on. The 'camp' restaurant has a Mongolian BBQ which was yummy and I could have happily eaten this for weeks. There is an alternative menu to the BBQ if its not for you but I highly recommend you try it. I would definitely recommend this experience and hope to go back again. The views are magnificent and you can get lost in the dream of being in Africa and actually hear the lions in their enclosure. Fabulous idea - fabulous place... Best break we've had in the UK by far Ed G Heathfield, United Kingdom

I booked a 3 night stay at Elephant Lodge ("EL") for my then girlfriend's birthday and the 2 of us stayed there during the second week of September 2014. We arrived on the Monday morning and went straight into Port Lympne, which was completely hassle free as our name had been left at the entrance.

4

We spent the day wandering around the park and then drove down the road to EL, which is accessed via security gates. From the moment we arrived we felt refreshingly welcomed by all of the staff we encountered. They always had a smile on their faces and you could tell that they were genuinely happy to help you and love working there. Nothing was too much trouble. We were amazed when we were shown to our tent due to its size and the facilities that were provided. There was a welcome hamper waiting for us with all sorts of local produce. Even though there were only 2 of us, there was easily enough room for 8 people to spend a few nights there. We had an Aga in our tent and although we never cooked on it, it provided a great deal of heat in the evenings. It was also great to have our own ensuite toilet and proper shower. There was plenty of really hot water available. We then went and met Trevor, the head ranger at the park, in order to arrange which activities we wanted to take part in during our stay. This process was made simple by there being a choice of set activities each evening, each costing only £5 per person. On the first evening, we went to feed the African Painted Dogs. This consisted of a great talk by the ranger who explained all about them and then allowed us to feed them. Once back at EL I proposed to my girlfriend, who is now my fiancé! We went to Howletts on the second day, which was equally as hassle free at the entrance. I highly recommend a visit to this sister park during your stay, especially as it is included. In the evening we came back to EL and went on our second evening activity to go and watch the small cats being fed. We even saw one of the Pallas cats jump in the water and go swimming, although I think it was more by accident! On Wednesday we went on the AAA Safari with 4 other people who were staying at EL. This cost £50 per person and was worth every penny. Sally, our ranger for the day, drove us around in a Land Rover for about 3 and a half hours and we managed to hand feed and stroke a rhino and a giraffe. Sally was full of knowledge and was great fun, as are all of the rangers. We also managed to feed the Tigers during our stay, which was amazing. Their size and power are overwhelming when you are standing with only a fence between your faces! The food at EL was really good and we ate in the restaurant twice and had food delivered from the takeaway hut on the other night. There was also plenty of food at breakfast, with the option of upgrading to a cooked breakfast. EL has its own enclosure of Meerkats by the tents which you can feed. These provide hours of entertainment for the adults as well as the kids! There are also 2 Scottish Wild Cats living in an enclosure at EL. The view over Romney Marsh to the sea is spectacular, with the Elephant enclosure and a family of Cheetahs living just below the fence. No review of EL would be complete without saying more about Trevor, the head ranger. We were lucky enough to be able to spend a fair amount of time over the 4 days talking to him about all sorts of things. You can instantly tell that the animals in his care are not just a part of his life, they are his life. His passion for what he does is infectious and you can see how this is passed down to the other rangers he works with. I'm sorry if this has been quite a long review but I could have made it 10 times longer. If you have even just stumbled across Elephant Lodge without knowing much about it, I strongly suggest that you give it a go, we have certainly had a week that we will remember forever and will be returning in the near future. We have also started looking into holding our wedding there! Thanks to everyone at EL! Stayed: September 2014, traveled as a couple Sleep Quality

We had 3 nights Glamping last week. From arrival the staff were always cheerful and helpful. We couldn't fault breakfast or dinner. The food was good quality and freshly cooked and very reasonably priced. The waitresses were so friendly and stayed chatting to us long after their finishing time. The rangers clearly put the animals and their welfare first at all times. We were lucky enough to meet Sarah in the morning when she was cleaning out the tiger enclosure and spraying aftershave for them (yes really, apparently they like Playboy!) and then later in the evening at big cat feeding time. During the day at Port Lympne we kept encountering Will, whose knowledge of the animals was extensive and amusing. We got to see the Fosser Pole dancing. Wonderful family experience Our family stayed in the 2 bedroom tent which was amazing.. Very roomy and all the comforts from home in a tent including an old fashioned range cooker (Agra.?) Staff were at hand to make our stay for 2 nights an experience , very helpful in whatever we asked them for. Take-away hut with chips burgers and pizza on sure which were lovely and at a really good price. The restraint which we went to on our 2nd nights had a good menu With plenty of choice, but we went for the Mongolian choice, which we were able to cook ourselves with the chef watching over us, we all enjoyed this and have some lovely photos esp of my husband cooking :0) The Safari going around looking at all the animals was amazing, going round in an open sided truck (safari vehicle) so you really go up close to the animals and live the experience as you would in Africa, You are able take some amazing photos really close to the animals. The staff were wonderful answering all our questions about the animals, very good knowledge and very friendly and funny. We would definitely go back and hopefully we will again next year, Thank you Elephant lodge for a wonderful 2 nights at your lodge see you next year From The Flanagan's
