Funeral Music Information from Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Revised 11/15/2016 for the 2017 Heritage Heritage Missal Listed below is suggested music that can be provided for funerals at IHM. If a favorite song or hymn is not listed, by all means, please feel free to make the request, and we will provide it if we are able to do so. Keep in mind that secular songs are not permitted in liturgical services; however, they may be played at the reception. If you would prefer the Director of Music & Liturgy to select all or some of the music, they will be happy to do so for you. Psalms & Gospel Acclamations The family may choose the psalm of their choice from the book "Through Death to Life." The Responsorial Psalm should be sung by the cantor. Solo Meditations The family may choose to have a solo sung or played during the mass (usually Preparation of the Gifts or at Communion). The most common choices are "Ave Maria" and "Panis Angelicus" The family may also request a special song to be sung or played as well.
