The Schola Cantorum is auditioning bass and baritone singers this

spring. Any interested singer is welcome to audition, but there is a special need for basses and baritones. Membership in the Schola Cantorum is by audition, and potential singers should be able to read music and have some familiarity with Church Latin (texts that appear in our hymnal for instance, “Ave Maria,” “Ave Verum,” etc). The Power of Prayer

“I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly…” John 10:10 Initiated in 1991, this program provides an opportunity for children, teens, adults and senior citizens to prayerfully intercede on behalf of moms and unborn babies threatened by abortion. Participants spiritually adopt a baby at risk of abortion by pledging to pray daily for nine months.

Beginning March 25, we ask that you join in to pray daily for your spiritual adopted baby and the baby’s parents. This child of yours is known to God and in the world to come it is hoped that you will meet this child whose life was saved by your prayers.

Baptisms/Bautismos

Baptism classes for parents and godparents are held in English each month on the first Saturday of the month at 9:00am. The course is three hours long. If the PARENTS are not members of the Cathedral, a letter from the parish in which the parents reside or are registered must be presented, giving permission for the child to be baptized at Saint Mary Cathedral. This must be done prior to registration for Baptism. Copy of the state birth certificate or hospital birth certificate for the child being baptized. Single godparents must be practicing Catholics living according to the norms of the Church. Married couples serving as godparents must be married by the Catholic Church. Parents and godparents must attend a Baptismal Preparation class prior to the Baptism. If the class is taken in another parish, proof of attendance must be presented. Godparents must have received all the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation. All Baptism documents must be received in the office before a Baptism date can be set.

There will be talks and time for prayer as well as “one-on-one” conversations with the sisters while experiencing community life with other young women discerning the will of God. Prayer for Seminarians and Priests: Jesus, I thank you for your gift of

the priesthood to the Church. I pray for all priests and those in formation for priesthood, especially__________.
