If someone attempts to circumvent that control, you’re notified. The system can activate an audible and/or visible alarm and notify both you and a central monitoring station. The monitoring security agents can then dispatch police, fire, paramedics, and others as appropriate. These systems deter bad behavior; numerous criminology studies conclude that secured residences are much less likely to be burglarized. What is an intrusion alarm system? Security systems can vary considerably depending on the purpose, brand, and characteristics of the site. An intrusion alarm system is simply a system that features components that can detect when a door, window, or other aspect of the residence is opened. What is a burglar alarm system? Most home security systems are burglar alarm systems. Burglar alarm is a generic term referring to the traditional audible alert but also the security components that trigger that alarm, such as motion sensors, access control mechanisms, window protection, and so forth. Is home security monitored? Any security solution for a home can be monitored remotely but doesn’t necessarily have to be. Law enforcement does generally recommend professional remote monitoring. What features do alarm systems have? The usual system will at least have a central control panel and keypad. This is the system core, and it communicates with and coordinates all of the sensors and other equipment. From this starting point, you can mix and match many different security devices. These include: Smart locks Motion detectors Surveillance cameras Medical alert devices Smoke and CO2 detectors Door and window alarm sensors Are home security devices wireless? Most brands do include wireless options in their product lineups. It’s possible to mix and match brands to get the wireless security alarms you want for your system.
