Horticulture Technology Departmental Updates Last year (2017) the Horticulture Technology Department at Alamance Community College carried numerous students to Brigham Young University in Provo, UT to compete in the National Collegiate Landscape Competition. Out of 63 colleges and universities, our department placed 11th overall! This year, we are beyond excited to announce that WE ARE HOSTING the 2018 National Collegiate Landscape Competition. The competition will take place March 14-17, 2018 on Alamance Community College’s campus located in Graham, NC. This competition consists of 30 different events. Students will be competing in things such as plant identification, landscape design, maintenance cost estimating, hardscape installation, irrigation design, compact excavator operation, small engine repair, and arboriculture to name a few. It is projected that this competition will bring approximately 1000 students from across the country to compete. This is a tremendous event for students with interests in horticulture. During the event students are able to showcase their skills and knowledge and network with industry professionals and other students with similar interests.
