NOTES Choral Masterworks for Small Choirs (CMSC) presents practical editions of great choral literature arranged to be within reach of mqst youth and adult choirs. These arrangements are carefully edited to ensure a big, full choral sound backed by a supportive accompaniment. The CMSC Series offers quality music for choirs with modest to substantial resources and will become a welcome addition to any choral library. As an additional performance option, a General MIDI (GM) P.eiformance-Accompaniment (PlA) file is available for each title in the CMSC Series.

How Lovely ls Thy Dwelling Place Brahm's Ein deutsches Requiem - A German Requiem, the monumental choral work of 1868 which established his reputation as a composer, was written in memory of his mother. As its title indicates, the original text of this work is in German and was taken from Luther's translation of the Latin Bible. · The text for this chorus, Psalm 84, is thought to be one of the "Pilgrim Songs" which were sung on the journeys to the temple for the annual feasts. In this psalm, the author longs to visit the house of the Lord and describes the happiness of those who dwell there.

CMSC General MIDI Per/ormance-Accompaniment Sequ.encer Files A General MIDI (GM) Peiformance-Accompaniment (PIA) sequencer fiie is available on disk for each edition in the CMSC Series. This innovative choral music-MIDI file combination offers consistent accompaniment, optional part support for the choir, a variety of performing possibilities, and can be used effectively by choirs with GM compatible resources. In working with MIDI instruments, i.e., a MIDI sequencer plus a GM compatible keyboard and/or GM sound module(s), you can take advantage of any number of options to enhance your rehearsal or performance. Each CMSC GM PIA File is complete with both choral and accompaniment parts which you play through your own GM compatible equipment. Depending on your MIDI equipment setup, you can choose to perform the piece with or without the choral parts (by muting the channel[s]), control the GM compatible keyboard and/or GM sound module characteristics, adjust tempo, dynamics, and key as well as play from any measure you choose. CMSC GM PIA Sequencer Files offer solid accompaniments and a variety of options which allow you to make the most of your performance conditions. All CMSC GM PIA Sequencer Files are Type 1, General MIDI Files. This means that the files can be accessed not only with standard sequencers, but also with MS-DOS compatible computers using sequencing software. The files can then be customized to fit your individual MIDI performance requirements by making any desired channel, program, and/or controller changes. RCVH General MIDI disks are available separately from the publisher.
