International Student Support Welcome to Your Home Away From Home After all your planning and anticipation, you're finally in New York! Now what? Arriving in a new country can seem as uncertain as it is exciting. What things are done differently here and what's the same? How will you find the places you need? How will you find friends and start to feel at home? We understand what you might be feeling. And at the Office of International Education, we're here to make sure that you don't have to figure it all out on your own. We're here to help you adjust to college and life in the U.S., assist with any questions regarding your visa or immigration, and welcome you into NYIT's strong multicultural community through social events throughout the year. Come visit us!
Making New Friends
Our IEE Peers are senior students who can answer any questions you may have before your arrival, refer you to the right contact person or department, and generally help you acclimate to life at NYIT and in the United States. You can contact them via email
[email protected] and ask away! Also, make sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram to get the latest updates on our services and events happening throughout the year.
Explore your neighborhood and make new friends along the way! We pair you up with another NYIT student and send you on a mission across New York City. Together, you answer questions about the city's rich history and culture, get to know its diverse communities, and learn more about each other in the meantime. Interested? Contact Luzia Ogureck (
[email protected]) for details.
The International Student Association (ISA) is a group of American and international students in Old Westbury who get together to learn about each other's cultures, celebrate the diversity of our community via campus-wide events, and help international students feel at home at NYIT. We meet weekly for shared activities, conversation, and cultural exchange. We trade stories and information about navigating the college experience. We go on field trips and we organize campus-wide celebrations and events that bring the whole community together in recognition of the rich cultural mix of the NYIT student body. To join ISA in Old Westbury, contact Karen Johnson at
